Chapter 40 - This Is Not a Country Romance Movie at All II
The brunch was held in silence, and both of them looked troubled.
“That–”
“I–”
They spoke at the same time and stopped abruptly at the same time, which was even more embarrassing.
“You speak first.” Han Zhuo signaled.
“It’s nothing, I just want to ask, are we teleporting to the garbage dump later?” Bai Xi asked, “Just like that first time.”
“If you are willing.” Han Zhuo nodded.
“I have another question.” Bai Xi continued to raise his hand.
Han Zhuo smiled and put his hand down: “This is not a classroom. You can ask as many questions as you like. As long as I know the answer, I will tell you all.”
“Any questions?” Bai Xi raised his eyebrows.
Mr. Han felt a little bit bad in his heart, and he thought of his rumored girlfriend in elementary school.
So, he solemnly warned: “But you are not allowed to make trouble unreasonably.”
Bai Xi rolled his eyes: “Oh.”
Han Zhuo pinched his nose: “You are not allowed to show such an expression.”
“You are such an unreasonable teacher.” Bai Xi smiled and broke away from him, “I want to ask about teleportation. Why can it only be done near the building? Also, what if the place I was thinking about last time was America, Africa, or Oceania? How are we going to get back?”
“The first question,” Han Zhuo said, “I don’t know why teleportation can only be done near the building. When I first discovered this, I was only in the third grade of elementary school. I didn’t want to take Chinese classes, so I went out of school with my schoolbag on my back and wandered around alone. Finally, I unconsciously came to the building – or to be more precise, there were no buildings at that time, just low-rise factories.”
“There were a lot of big cement pipes there, like tunnels. I thought it was fun, so I crawled around in them, and I ended up playing until dark without knowing it.” Han Zhuo continued, “I was a little scared at the time. I didn’t know how many buses it would take to get back, so I just sat on the pile of cement pipes and thought, it would be great if I could go home immediately.”
As a result, he really fell from the sky and appeared in front of Daisy.
“Auntie must have panicked.” Bai Xi guessed.
“She was indeed panicked, but that emotion only lasted a few seconds.” Then it changed to disbelief and joy.
Bai Xi: “…”
From then on, Daisy took her young son and began experiments in every corner of the city, but never found another place where Han Zhuo could teleport. As for the specific reason, there was no way to know. What was known was, although the factory building had been demolished and rebuilt three times, from a factory to a park, and now to a mid-range office building, it had not had any impact on teleportation.
“So, it should be a force coming from deep underground, or a magnetic field?” Han Zhuo continued, “And I have always felt that there should be only one such place, but we haven’t found it yet.”
“Are you the only one who can teleport?” Bai Xi continued to ask, “I mean, among all the superpowers, are you the only one who can sense this power?”
Han Zhuo nodded.
“What about the second question?” Bai Xi helped him fill up the black tea, “Theoretically, wouldn’t you be able to teleport directly back to another planet?”
“I can’t even teleport to another country,” Han Zhuo replied with a smile. “Daisy and I tried it hundreds of times and finally found the teleportation range can only use that building as the coordinate and expand in all directions. It must be within about 160 kilometers, and it must be a place that has been visited before, and at least the general scene of the destination must be sketched in the mind.”
“But what happened to the garbage dump?” Bai Xi wondered, “I have never been there, let alone thought about going there.”
“But you were wondering where you wanted to go to throw away the garbage,” Han Zhuo said. “When you don’t have a clear destination and you really want to do something, this is the result.”
“Randomly, any place where you can throw garbage.” Bai Xi nodded, “OK, I understand.”
“Would you like some more tea?” Han Zhuo looked at his empty cup.
“No, I’m going to make a cup of coffee.” Bai Xi yawned.
“Why are you so sleepy?” Han Zhuo asked casually, but before he finished speaking, he began to regret it. Sure enough, the next moment, he heard Bai Xi reply: “Because I was on the phone with Daisy last night.”
Mr. Han looked at him: “Um.”
“What do you mean by ‘um’? Do you want to know the contents of our chatting?” Bai Xi was very interested.
“No, you can keep this little secret to yourself.” Han Zhuo stood up, “I’ll make coffee for you.”
“Please, I really want to share it.” Bai Xi followed him, “And today is the weekend. The boss is off work and the teacher is off work, so we have an equal relationship.”
Han Zhuo took out the coffee beans.
“Ahem.” Bai Xi cleared his throat, “You–ah!”
Mr. Han covered his mouth with one hand, and easily wrapped his other hand around his waist, picking him up.
“Put me down!” Bai Xi struggled with a smile.
Han Zhuo strode to the living room, pushed him down on the sofa, and ordered: “Watch TV carefully.”
Bai Xi suppressed a smile: “Oh.”
Looking at his proud and gloating expression, Mr. Han felt a headache. Even he himself couldn’t figure out why he suddenly seemed to have a handle in the hands of the little villain in front of him.
But at least one thing was worth celebrating, and that was the relationship between the two did not seem to have changed because of Linda’s “candlelight dinner” and “couple” last night – at least on the surface it still looked the same as before. Same, that was enough.
As for the deeper level, Han Zhuo had no time to care about it for the time being. He had many other important things to do.
