Chapter 29 - It Must Be a Hallucination I
Daisy decided to find some other topics to alleviate the inexplicable embarrassment caused by her impatience.
So, she looked around and said casually, “Do you like green plants very much? Oh! This little succulent is very cute, like a chubby little rabbit.”
“It’s very cute, but it’s not that I like it,” Bai Xi replied with a smile. “Han Zhuo felt there was a lack of life in my office, so he bought a lot of potted plants. There’s also a row of pothos on the balcony. Do you want to go and see it?”
“Oh?” Daisy was excited after hearing this. She became interested. “It seems he often gives you things.”
“Not very often, but I like everything he sends,” Bai Xi reflected, unable to resist praising again. “Anyway, he really is a very good person.”
Daisy smiled kindly and gently brushed off the “good person” compliment from Mr. Han, then asked, “What about the little planet?”
“I really like it,” Bai Xi replied, somewhat excited. “It’s always on my bedside. It feels wonderful, like a whole small universe placed there.”
“There can be even more wonderful feelings, little cutie,” Daisy said, seizing the opportunity to hold his hand. “What do you think-”
The office door suddenly swung open, interrupting their conversation.
Daisy stared at the door in shock.
The people at the door also looked at her in surprise.
“Well,” the air in the room grew stagnant again. Bai Xi sensed the need to lighten the atmosphere, so he said, “Auntie was just passing by, so I invited her up for a cup of coffee.”
“Oh, really?” Han Zhuo responded calmly. From Qiye Road to here, it was a long journey with traffic jams, and he couldn’t think of any route that would allow her to simply “passing by”. It was a weak excuse.
But Mr. Han wasn’t interested in pursuing it further. At that moment, he held a large bouquet of beautiful flowers in his arms, with a placemat and tableware bag under one arm, and a beautifully packaged strawberry mousse cake in his left hand. In his right hand, he balanced a bottle of champagne with two elegant glasses hanging between his fingers. His suit hung casually over his shoulders, and his hair was slightly tousled on his forehead. He looked like a busy and somewhat unfamiliar… trainee waiter.
“Let me help you!” Bai Xi quickly greeted him.
“Why didn’t you call and let me know,” Han Zhuo muttered through gritted teeth.
“Auntie is just here for a cup of tea. Do I really need to inform you beforehand?” Bai Xi’s voice was subdued. “Okay, okay, it’s fine. You can go.”
Han Zhuo: “…”
“No, no, no, not you. I’m the one who needs to leave. I have to go,” Daisy exclaimed, standing up abruptly. She grabbed her handbag and walked swiftly and charmingly toward Han Zhuo. With a wink, she said, “Goodbye, handsome. I hope you enjoy your job, and by the way, that bottle of wine looks fantastic.”
Han Zhuo opened the door for her with an impassive expression.
“Enjoy your little cake,” Daisy said, hugging Bai Xi once more and whispering in his ear, “And if you want to try it, I don’t think Han Zhuo would mind.”
“Sounds amazing!” Bai Xi was in a complex mood but could only pretend not to hear, continuing to guide her toward the elevator with a bright and innocent smile.
.
Upon returning to the office, Han Zhuo was seated on the sofa, casually poking at the strawberries on the mousse cake with a shiny silver fork, his slender legs stretched out on the coffee table.
“You’ll get fat if you eat all that alone!” Bai Xi reached out to grab it.
Han Zhuo moved aside to avoid him, shifted his position to the other side, raised an eyebrow, and demanded, “Speak.”
“What an attitude!” Bai Xi protested. “I’m your boss!”
“It’s off-duty time now,” Mr. Han reminded him. “So, I’m your teacher.”
Bai Xi: “…”
“Why did Daisy come here?” Han Zhuo asked, adding casually, “Don’t lie, or I’ll be upset.”
Bai Xi smirked. “Then you can’t tell Daisy, because we’re allies.”
“I am your ally, the only one, forever,” Han Zhuo handed the cake to him. “She will only worry about the world not being in chaos. Remember?”
‘I don’t remember,’ Bai Xi answered in his heart.
He added, “The cake is delicious.”
“Because I wanted to apologize very sincerely, I bought the most delicious cake,” Han Zhuo handed him another glass of sparkling wine. “In exchange, you have to be honest with me.”
It sounded reasonable, so Bai Xi could only say, “It was a story about sneezing and kissing. There is no conspiracy. I’m really just worried about you.”
Mr. Han mumbled vaguely. It didn’t sound good.
Then his nose started to itch again.
Bai Xi’s account was concise, but its impact was quite shocking.
At least that was the case for Han Zhuo.
He never knew he sneezed because he kissed someone else?
“That’s how it is,” Bai Xi said. “But does your body really not matter? Do you want to go find Old Zhou and have another bowl of noodles?”
“Do you believe what Daisy says?” Han Zhuo looked at him dumbfounded. “About the reason why I sneeze.”
“It sounds weird, but before I met you, I wouldn’t believe that someone could make a little star,” Bai Xi answered, “so it’s not weird no matter how weird it is.”
Mr. Han sighed in distress.
“Anyway, I hope you’re okay,” Bai Xi put his arm around his shoulders. “The cake is delicious, thank you.”
“Then are you still angry?” Han Zhuo asked.
“No more,” Bai Xi shook his head and emphasized after a while, “but even if you really have to leave one day, if you still have a chance, you must come back to see me.”
Han Zhuo smiled and reached out to rub his hair.
“Okay.”
