Chapter 101: Did King of Song's Stock Hit the Limit Again?
Chapter 101: Did King of Song’s Stock Hit the Limit Again?
“Husband, you’re awake?” Ye Liyan obediently let go of the hair strands she was twirling between her fingers, her beautiful eyes clearly reflecting Shen Yian’s face.
She had sensed it when Shen Yian opened the door and came in earlier.
After she finished her final small circulation and ended her meditation, she got up to find her husband already resting with closed eyes on the other side of the bed. She figured he must have exhausted a lot of energy using that bronze mirror to enter dreams.
So she crept over like a little cat stealing cream, crawling to Shen Yian’s side, and had been contentedly gazing at her husband until now.
During this time, she had wanted to make some small moves, but feared waking him. After an internal struggle, she resisted the urge.
Shen Yian smiled tiredly, turning to tightly embrace Ye Liyan. He didn’t want to experience the pain of separation again.
Ye Liyan gently patted Shen Yian’s back, her small face nuzzling his cheek affectionately.
There were traces of tears on her husband’s cheeks. He must have dreamed about Mother Xiao, she thought. She couldn’t think of anything else that would make her husband cry.
“Liyan, after some time passes, let’s go visit your mother together.”
“Mother… is very far from Tianwu City…” Ye Liyan’s voice trembled slightly.
“It’s alright, your husband has become stronger. We can make the round trip in a day.”
Shen Yian tenderly kissed Ye Liyan.
Lady Gong wasn’t buried in the Ye family ancestral grounds, but in the Gong family ancestral grounds in the northern frontier. Though far, for Shen Yian at his current level, if he moved quickly, he could reach it in just an hour or two.
The couple lingered intimately for a while longer before getting up to wash and tidy themselves.
Just as they walked out of the room, they saw Xueguo dash across the courtyard in a flash, with Jinlian chasing behind, out of breath.
“Xueguo, slow down!”
After Jinlian exchanged greetings with the two of them, she hurried off to chase Xueguo.
“The weather is really nice. How about going to the flower and bird market with me later?”
“As my husband wishes.”
After lunch, the couple took a carriage with Cheng Hai and the others, leaving the prince’s mansion.
The main purpose of this trip to the flower and bird market was to buy some plant seeds and potted flowers. He had his own use for them.
Additionally, he wanted to visit the Thousand Gold Pavilion again. Ye Feng was about to set off on a journey, and he wanted to prepare more gifts.
They had just left when a clerk from the pawn shop came running.
Mendu frowned upon seeing the clerk and said, “The King and Kings’ Consort have just left. What’s the matter?”
The clerk handed over a letter and said, “This is a letter from our manager. Please pass it on to the prince.”
“I understand. I will personally deliver it to the prince.”
“Thank you for your trouble.” The clerk bowed and hurriedly left.
Mendu watched the clerk’s retreating figure with a puzzled expression. Had something happened at the pawn shop?
Meanwhile, the group arrived at the North Market and passed through two long streets before reaching Tianwu City’s largest flower and bird market.
Inside the market, it was bustling with noise – human voices mingled with bird calls and animal cries, creating an extremely lively atmosphere.
The couple put on the face masks they had purchased earlier and held hands as they got down from the carriage.
“Husband, there are so many people.” Ye Liyan instinctively moved closer to Shen Yian as they stood at the street entrance.
“Several groups of foreign merchants have arrived, bringing many exotic animals. Let’s go take a look later,” Shen Yian said with a smile after sweeping the area with his divine sense.
The first shop at the street entrance had many potted flowers on display. Many people stopped to appreciate them, and a scholar even improvised a poem on the spot, earning quite a bit of applause.
Shen Yian carefully sensed everything before shaking his head. These flowers were all of very good quality, but unfortunately, they weren’t what he wanted. He could buy some flower seeds though.
When he first saw the flowers, his initial reaction was to buy them to give to his loved one.
As he thought carefully, he realized that aside from the flower crowns they exchanged as children, he had never formally given flowers to Ye Liyan.
But these flowers were all in pots, and handing over a pot lacked aesthetics. Giving a flower basket felt strange too. The bouquets from his previous life were more visually appealing and romantic. He decided to have the merchant association prepare some large colored paper so he could personally make a bouquet later.
As they walked and browsed, Shen Yian bought several potted plants with spiritual energy and many plant seeds. He also bought some fish fry to enrich the variety in their pond. Ye Liyan, like a large curious baby, would brighten up whenever she saw interesting birds or animals.
“So… so big rat!” Jinxiu’s startled voice drew their attention.
Shen Yian was surprised when he clearly saw the creature in the bamboo cage. Isn’t this a marmot?
He wondered how these creatures were transported to Tianwu City.
Not only were there marmots, he even saw leopard cubs and various rare animals.
If this were in his previous life, all the merchants selling birds and beasts in the entire market would be arrested.
He only looked without intending to buy. At this stage, raising one Xueguo was enough. Any more, and the king’s mansion might turn into a zoo.
After browsing a while longer, they ran into a familiar face.
“Fourth Brother.”
“Sixth Brother?” Shen Jingyu uncertainly asked, looking at the mask on Shen Yian’s face.
“It’s me,” Shen Yian answered with a smile.
“Sister-in-law is here too?” Shen Jingyu was surprised to see the pair of azure eyes beside him.
He had come here to buy some fish to feed the ravens and to see if there were any new bird species.
“Greetings, Your Highness the King of Song,” Ye Liyan nodded.
Shen Yian couldn’t help teasing, “Fourth Brother, why didn’t Miss Gu come out with you for a stroll?”
“Ruoyi has been unwell these past few days and hasn’t left the mansion.”
“I see.”
Shen Yian nodded. Of course, he had sent an invitation to the Martial Marquis’s mansion for his wedding. They were all acquainted and had shared meals together, so they could be considered friends. It was simply inviting friends to his wedding, without any other implications.
Unexpectedly, Gu Ruoyi had her period that day and was too unwell to come. What surprised him was that Gu Qing personally brought a wedding gift.
Being able to invite people like Lu Wenxuan and Gu Qing, his prestige that day had almost gone through the roof. The next day, many rumors began to spread, saying he would be the true crown prince, the true successor. It was clearly intentionally spread by someone.
What could he do? If they say so, then so be it. He didn’t attend court anyway, so out of sight, out of mind.
As the ancients said, idle talk exists daily, but if you don’t listen, it doesn’t exist.
But come to think of it, Shen Jingyu seemed to know Gu Ruoyi’s situation so well?
It seems he cares a great deal!
Hmm, his judgment was indeed as sharp as a stock market king. The King of Song stock had hit the limit up again!
Shen Yian’s inner thoughts continued:
Fifth Brother, oh Fifth Brother, you need to try harder! At this rate, you really won’t be able to compete with Fourth Brother.
For a moment, Shen Yian actually found himself wishing the answer wasn’t so clear-cut. Second Brother and Third Brother haven’t even entered the scene yet. Fourth Brother, please give them a chance!
“Hm? Fourth Brother, what’s wrong?”
Shen Jingyu suddenly froze in place, his handsome face wearing a very unnatural expression, his eyes full of shock.
