Yellowstone: Wind in the Smoke

Chapter 76: That Encounter 2

"Are you my sister's boyfriend?" Jack approached Dante and asked this question angrily.

"It's true. Did she tell you?" Dante seemed to know that things had reached this point and couldn't be undone. Since he had spent the night with Susie, he would take responsibility and marry her. "I'm not sure if she's expecting a child, but I'm here to meet my new family."

Bam!

But just as he was about to extend his hand to greet Susie's brother, a punch landed on his chin. Dante seemed quite confused as he recovered from the blow, unsure of what was happening.

Was this some sort of claim over Susie?

Thinking this, Dante's expression showed a mix of bitterness and slight anger. "What are you doing?"

"You're not staying with my sister. She needs to marry someone clean." Jack grabbed Dante by the jacket and was about to throw another punch when, suddenly, a blow struck his own chin.

Dante didn't say another word and casually shoved Jack, who lost strength in his legs.

"You've got a good punch. I bet few can rival you in those illegal fights you take part in," Dante praised Jack, who struggled to stay on his feet.

As an ordinary person, no one would withstand such a strong blow like the one Dante had received. However, Dante had long mastered the art of taking hits, minimizing the damage as much as possible.

Even before Jack attacked him, Dante instinctively reacted, reducing the impact on his body.

"Though I have to say, you have a strange way of greeting people." Dante looked at Jack with a half-smile and, seeing Susie approaching, added, "Your brother is strong. He'll surely win the fight. By the way, you didn't tell me anything about your brother's greeting style."

"Are you always this impulsive with our partners? Get up. Stop making a fool of yourself," Susie frowned as she looked at her brother Jack, who had nearly turned this meeting into a disaster.

"That son of a bitch has a solid hook," Jack muttered, clenching his fists as he stared at Dante with a face full of pain. He got to his feet after regaining some mobility.

Dante extended his hand and firmly grabbed Jack by the neck before saying, "You would've knocked me out if you weren't wearing gloves."

"Yeah, sure..."

"Go take a shower. You reek of sweat," Susie said, giving her brother the opportunity to leave.

Jack nodded and turned away without exchanging any more words with Dante.

At the same time, Eddie approached and asked, "Are you going to introduce me?"

"Oh, Duke, this is Dante Dutton, a friend who will be watching my brother's fight. So, I brought him here to meet him," Susie briefly introduced Dante to Eddie, who owned this place.

"He's a family boss, Eddie. Don't let them fool you," whispered Freddy, who appeared beside his brother, visibly high.

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Dutton." Eddie ignored his drugged-up brother's words and extended his hand to greet Dante.

"My apologies. I should've arrived with prior notice, but there were some setbacks with our original destination, so we had to find a quieter place," Dante said with a pleasant expression, but then that same expression turned cold as he shifted the topic. "Your brother must be the rooster. A pleasure to meet him too."

Freddy was furious. The last time someone had mocked him as a "dancing rooster," he personally shot them. So now, being called that again was truly irritating.

"How did you know?" Eddie looked at Susie as he asked the question, then focused his attention on Dante, clearly intrigued by how this secret was uncovered.

"Well..." The warmth on Dante's face disappeared, replaced by a chilling smile. "As a partner who relies heavily on Susie, I have to investigate who she associates with so I can support her when she needs help."

"Everything you do and continue doing is being monitored by many people, organizations, and government departments you can't even begin to imagine."

"The police know about us?"

Susie looked at Dante, waiting for his explanation, though she had a vague suspicion in her heart.

"You're curious about how I knew that, right?" Dante's expression returned to normal as he explained: "Our electronic devices are monitoring us all the time. It's just that we're insignificant to certain people or organizations with access to that information."

"Fortunately for me, I have access to that information and am interested in details that others overlook. That's how I know some things."

Eddie forced a smile and murmured, "Good thing you're Susie's friend..."

"I suppose you're right," Dante said, glancing at Susie and adding, "We'll have to visit that man. If he sent people to kill me, he'll pay with his life."

"We're not going anywhere until after my brother's fight. Anything else would distract him," Susie stated, unwilling for Dante to start a war with the man her father wanted no dealings with.

"As you wish," Dante replied. However, it was clear he intended to handle some things on his own, with little need for Susie's approval.
