Chapter 3: 03. Kiryu Kazuma
[Kamurocho Map if you curious]
Even though the man in front of him insisted he wasn't involved with the killings, Eugen stayed on high alert, refusing to lower his guard.
He knew this man wasn't ordinary. His aura was intense, shifting through different hues—pink, yellow, blue, and a dim yet blazing red, though the red seemed weaker than the rest.
Eugen's right arm began to glow brighter, so much so that even the man in front of him could see it now.
Sensing the tension escalating, the man raised both hands in a calming gesture.
"Listen, kid, I'm not the one who did this. I'm here to investigating something. For now, we need to leave before the police show up."
The mention of the police caught Eugen's attention. He glanced at Haruka, who was still sitting and trembling. If they were caught, the authorities would undoubtedly send both of them back to the orphanage.
"Alright..." Eugen finally relented and walked back to Haruka.
"Haruka, we need to go," he said, gently holding her close.
"Sure..." she muttered, her voice faint, allowing him to piggyback her.
The man watched them for a moment before Eugen turned to him, his sharp gaze unyielding.
"Alright, let's get out of here first," the man said, leading the way as the three of them left the bar and disappeared into the streets.
While walking, Eugen deliberately stayed behind the man, keeping a watchful eye on him.
Noticing how tense the boy was, the man decided to break the silence. "My name is Kiryu. Kazuma Kiryu. Can you two kids tell me your names?"
"Eugen, and this is Haruka," Eugen replied cautiously.
"I see... Eugen and Haruka. What were you two doing in that place?"
"We were looking for clues about her mother. When we arrived, everyone was already dead. Then we heard you come in, so we hid."
"Her mother? What happened to her?"
"Nothing. We're just trying to find her. That's all. Also, if you don't mind, we'll take another route," Eugen said.
The three of them reached a two path in the road—one path leading to West Taihei Street, the other to East Taihei Street.
As Eugen turned toward East Taihei Street, he noticed a small dog sitting ahead of them.
"Huh, a dog?" he muttered. But something was wrong—the dog was wounded and filthy, its side bearing marks that suggested it had been kicked or struck.
"Hahaha! Your throw sucks! Let me show you how it's done!" came a loud voice from the side of the road.
Moments later, a rock was hurled toward the dog.
"Aung—" the dog whimpered in pain.
"They're hurting the dog!" Haruka's eyes widened, the sight snapping her out of her daze.
"Bullseye! That's how you throw a rock!" another voice jeered.
It was clear the thugs had been tormenting the dog for a while. The poor creature was too weak to move, trembling as it cried.
"Those bastards!" Eugen muttered, his anger boiling over. He had never felt such rage before. Watching them casually abuse the helpless animal made his blood boil, and his right arm began glowing again, the heat in his hand intensifying.
Before Eugen could act, Kiryu walked past him while patting his hair and keep walking toward the dog.
"Let's put that mutt out of its misery," one of the thugs sneered, picking up a larger rock and immediately throw it towards the dog.
Before the stone could hit the dog, Kiryu snatched it midair.
Without hesitation, he hurled it back at the thug with such force that it struck the man square in the face.
*WHACK!* Blood spurted from the thug's nose and mouth as he staggered backward.
"Yo, you good, bro?!" another thug shouted, rushing to check on his friend. They turned their attention to Kiryu, who stood unfazed.
"Yo, what the hell, man?!" one of them yelled, his anger flaring.
"I've had a rough day," Kiryu replied. "Seeing a group of thugs beating on a small dog just made it worse." He stepped forward, his gaze icy. "Meeting me... that's your bad luck."
"Hah? You think you're tough, old man?!" the thug growled before turning to call out. "Hey! Get over here!"
More thugs emerged from the shadows, joining the group. Soon, a total of twelve men surrounded Kiryu.
"Now who's got the bad luck, huh?" one of them sneered, cracking his knuckles as they closed in on him.
Seeing himself surrounded, Kiryu immediately assumed a fighting stance.
His entire body tensed as he bent his knees, placing his right arm in front of his chest and his left arm down by his waist. A blue aura began emanating from his shoulders and upper body, glowing intensely.
However, the thugs seemed unfazed, showing no concern even with the mysterious energy radiating from him.
"What's that blue aura?" Eugen murmured, his eyes narrowing as he observed Kiryu.
"What blue aura?" Haruka asked, confused.
"That uncle... he's got a blue aura coming out of his upper body!"
"I don't see anything, though."
"Huh?"
Their conversation was cut short when one of the thugs charged at Kiryu from behind, aiming a punch.
Kiryu dodged effortlessly, causing the thug's attack to miss. But Kiryu didn't stop there—he grabbed the thug's arm and hurled him forward into another attacker.
"Uaghh!"
Seeing this, the other thugs rushed Kiryu all at once, trying to overwhelm him. Suddenly, Kiryu's stance shifted.
His body relaxed, and he raised both fists in front of him. His aura changed from blue to pink.
In an instant, Kiryu sidestepped with incredible speed, escaping the group that had surrounded him.
"What!? That old man moved so fast!" one thug shouted, astonished to see Kiryu already outside their circle.
Kiryu stopped next to a bike, and his stance changed once more. This time, his entire body grew even tenser, and a yellow aura enveloped him.
Without hesitation, he lifted the bike and began using it as a weapon.
BAM BAM! Kiryu spun with the bike, striking the twelve thugs. Each impact sent them flying and crashing to the ground.
Half of the group was knocked unconscious instantly, but the remaining thugs struggled to their feet.
Kiryu, seeing them recover, hurled the bike at three of them with tremendous force, hitting them squarely and rendering them unconscious as the bike shattered into pieces.
"Wh-what kind of old man are you?!" one thug stammered, clutching his chest from the earlier blow.
"Is that it?" Kiryu asked, his stance shifting back to the original one with the blue aura.
"Can't handle someone who fights back?" he taunted, motioning with his hand for them to attack.
"Shut up, old man! DIEEE!" The remaining thugs, angered by the mockery, charged at him together.
BAM BAM BAM! In a blur of movements, Kiryu took them all down with ease. Now, every single thug lay unconscious on the ground.
"Ugh!" Eugen groaned, clutching his right arm as it suddenly grew unbearably hot.
Images began flashing through his mind—visions of himself using the same stances Kiryu had just displayed.
Brawler. Rush. Beast Style.
"Ahhhh!" Eugen cried out as his right arm glowed even brighter, the heat becoming unbearable. He fell to the ground.
"Eugen?!" Haruka screamed in panic. She could see his arm glowing intensely, and the tattoo on it began shining through the bandages, now visible even to her.
"What's happening?!" Kiryu ran to them, alarmed. He knelt beside Eugen, noticing the glow from his right arm.
"His arm! It's burning up again!" Haruka said anxiously, looking between Kiryu and Eugen.
Kiryu could see the glowing tattoo even through the fabric of Eugen's long sleeves, which he wore to hide the bandages. Realizing something was wrong, Kiryu quickly removed his jacket and wrapped it tightly around Eugen's arm to try to hide the glowing.
"Haruka, grab the puppy. I'll carry Eugen. Follow me!" Kiryu commanded as he scooped up the boy.
The moment his hands touched Eugen's right arm, he flinched from the intense heat but pushed through it, ignoring the pain as he held the boy.
"Hm." Haruka nodded quickly, running to the injured dog and gently picking it up.
"Let's go," Kiryu said. The two of them ran together, with Haruka carrying the dog and Kiryu holding Eugen securely.

Kiryu and Haruka ran through West Taihei Street toward Tenkaichi Street, weaving past various shops, including a convenient store and a place called Stardust. Eventually, Kiryu stopped in front of a building.
"Let's go around the back," Kiryu said, leading them into a narrow alley beside the building.
Haruka followed closely as they approached a staircase at the back of the building that led up to the second and third floors. Kiryu quickly ascended the stairs and stopped on the second floor.
Without hesitation, he opened the door and led them through a corridor to another door, which he also opened.
Haruka stepped inside and immediately noticed the space was a bar, its shelves lined with bottles of beer and whiskey. Behind the counter stood a woman cleaning a glass.
"Reina!" Kiryu called out.
"Kiryu, you're back?" Reina replied, looking toward him. Her expression quickly turned to shock as she saw him carrying an unconscious boy, accompanied by a young girl holding a small injured dog.
She put down the glass she was cleaning and rushed over. "What happened? Weren't you investigating the bar?"
Kiryu gently laid Eugen down on a couch usually used for groups of customers. As he removed his jacket from Eugen's arm, the glow was still evident.
"His arm is glowing?" Reina exclaimed in disbelief.
"Reina, can you take care of the dog Haruka is carrying?" Kiryu asked urgently while struggling to remove Eugen's shirt and the bandages on his arm.
The bandages, strangely unaffected by the intense heat, were difficult for him to remove.
"Here, please take care of the puppy," Haruka said, handing the dog to Reina. She then moved closer to Eugen, her concern deepening.
"Just leave the dog to me. You two focus on him," Reina said as she took the dog to the back room, presumably to retrieve a medical kit.
After a few moments of struggle, Kiryu finally managed to remove the bandages. What he saw left him speechless.
The tattoo on Eugen's right arm—normally blue—was now glowing a radiant golden color, shaped like flames flickering across his skin.
"A tattoo?" Kiryu murmured in surprise before turning to Haruka. "Haruka, can you explain what's going on with him?"
"I don't know… His arm heats up sometimes, but it's never been this bad before," Haruka said, tears welling in her eyes. She placed a hand on Eugen's forehead, checking his temperature.
"Do you know why this is happening to his arm?" Kiryu asked, his voice filled with concern.
"No… I'm sorry, but I don't know. Can he be cured? I don't want to lose him like my mother," Haruka said, her voice breaking as she began to cry.
Kiryu gently placed a hand on her head, softly running his fingers through her straight, shoulder-length black hair to comfort her.
"He'll be fine, don't worry. But I need you to tell me everything you know about his arm," he said reassuringly.
Haruka nodded, wiping her tears, and began explaining everything she knew. She told Kiryu how Eugen had mentioned that he'd had the tattoo since he was a baby and that his arm would heat up whenever he got tense or witnessed a fight.
Normally, the heat would subside if Eugen looked away or calmed down, but this time was different. The heat had grown unbearably intense and escalated so quickly that it caused him to lose consciousness.
As Haruka finished explaining, Reina returned with a medical kit and placed it nearby.
"What's going on with that boy?" Reina asked, glancing at the glowing tattoo.
"I don't know yet," Kiryu said, his expression grim. "But this is no ordinary situation."
