Chapter 33: Chapter 33: A Modest Goal
Chapter 33: A Modest Goal
"Grand Celestial Phoenix Seal!" Staring at the immense silver phoenix in the void, Lin Langtian's eyes gleamed with amazement.
Creation-level martial arts ranked as the most powerful techniques in the Great Flame Empire and were precisely what Langtian needed now. Excited, he focused his mind and began to absorb the vast martial knowledge.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The phoenix projection shifted, silver light shimmering until it morphed into an ancient, silver book hovering silently in mid-air. Taking a deep breath, Langtian released a strand of spiritual energy toward the book, which floated over and then, as if immaterial, penetrated his forehead and merged into his mind.
"Boom!"
At that instant, Langtian's body trembled as a torrent of information exploded within his mind. Countless powerful martial techniques flashed through his consciousness at an incredible speed, imprinting themselves so clearly that he could recall them with a single thought. Along with the martial skills came extensive knowledge of techniques passed down by generations of Lin Clan elders—wisdom refined through their experience with this very skill.
This was a true inheritance, encompassing not just the martial art itself but invaluable guidance from the clan's history. For Langtian, it was nothing short of a treasure trove.
Slowly opening his eyes, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction as he registered the Creation-level martial art imprinted in his mind. Another powerful asset was now his, and his battle strength had risen once more.
Watching Langtian quickly absorb the technique, Clan Leader Lin Fan was momentarily stunned. The Grand Celestial Phoenix Seal, the Lin Clan's pinnacle martial art, was notoriously challenging to master, even for Creation-level practitioners. Yet Langtian had accepted it in a mere half-hour—proof of his extraordinary potential.
Nodding with approval, Lin Fan smiled. "Very well. Now that you've received the Phoenix Seal, train diligently, and I am confident you'll master it to its full potential."
"I won't disappoint you, Clan Leader," Langtian replied, respectfully bowing.
While Langtian was aware that in the original timeline Lin Fan's favor had shifted to Lin Dong once he emerged, he held a deep respect and appreciation for the support the Clan Leader had given him since his rebirth.
"That's all for now. You're dismissed." Lin Fan patted Langtian on the shoulder with a smile.
"Bidding you farewell, Clan Leader." Langtian respectfully took his leave and headed toward his own courtyard. Given his status as the clan's top young talent and Enforcement Elder, his residence was located close to the clan leader's quarters. Shortly after, he arrived at his destination.
To his surprise, an elder stood waiting outside his door. A closer look revealed it to be Old Tao, the man Langtian had sent to the Lin family branch in Qingyang Town over a month ago to mend relations with Lin Dong.
"Ah, Langtian, you're back! Word of your renown in the capital has already reached me," Old Tao said warmly as he stepped forward, smiling.
"Thank you, Old Tao, but it's just a bit of fame," Langtian replied with a slight smile. "Please come inside; let's catch up."
As they entered and took their seats, Langtian poured them tea, keenly interested in Old Tao's progress. "You must have been traveling far; I truly appreciate it. How did things go with the Qingyang branch? Were they open to my apology?"
Old Tao gave Langtian a small bow. "They still feel some resentment over the past incident, but after my explanations, along with your sincere apology and gifts, they seem ready to let bygones be bygones. Lin Xiao, in particular, has recovered and seems to hold no further grudge against you. However, he did refuse to accept this token," Old Tao said, presenting a black token engraved with the character 'Heaven.' "He insisted that his son, Lin Dong, would return to the clan on his own merit at the family competition in a few years."
Raising his eyebrows, Langtian took the token back, placing it into his storage pouch with a faint smile. Lin Xiao's refusal wasn't unexpected. The father of the future Martial Ancestor wouldn't be one to accept charity or take shortcuts.
Though Lin Xiao hadn't accepted the token, Langtian was confident that the Qingyang branch could sense his goodwill. As for Lin Dong, Langtian had yet to meet him personally, but he believed his cousin would be reasonable. Even if Lin Dong harbored lingering resentment, the upcoming family tournament would give Langtian the chance to prove himself—and perhaps earn Lin Dong's respect through sheer strength.
Exchanging a few more pleasantries, Langtian then took out three thousand Pure Yuan Pills from his storage pouch as Old Tao's promised reward. Thanking Langtian profusely, the elder took his leave.
After seeing Old Tao off, Langtian watched the setting sun with a sense of relief. Since discovering he'd been reborn as Lin Langtian, he had constantly felt wary about his situation. After all, this was the Heavenly Profound Continent, a world ruled by strength and filled with hidden dangers. Only by gaining enough power could one truly protect themselves.
But unlike the typical reborn heroes with powerful "golden finger" advantages, he had no system or inherent cheat—only his determination to rise step by step to the peak of the Heavenly Profound Continent, and perhaps even the Great Thousand World.
In addition, his complicated relationship with Lin Dong—a future legend in the Great Thousand World—often weighed on his mind. Yet, with the Qingyang branch conflict resolved, he could finally focus fully on his cultivation.
Langtian set a personal goal in his heart: to reach the Half-Nirvana Stage before the Hundred Dynasty War.
