Chapter 224: The Vermilion Bird Bloodline

"What incredible power!" Lin Langtian murmured, a confident smile curling at the corners of his mouth as he assessed his transformation over the past two months. With his breakthrough to the Fourth Stage of Nirvana, coupled with his deep reserves of energy, he could rival Fifth Stage Nirvana fighters and even hold his own against a Sixth Stage opponent.

In the short span of six months on the ancient battlefield, he had advanced from nearly breaking into Nirvana to such a powerful level—it was an astonishing feat. Even the elite warriors of the superpower dynasties on the Nirvana Gold List posed no fatal threat to him anymore.

"Hehe, to be able to subdue the Vermilion Bird's Burning Heaven Flame so quickly—your secrets must be vast…" observed Que Tian, smiling as he noted Lin Langtian's pleased expression.

"Thank you, Senior!" Lin Langtian quickly collected himself and respectfully bowed. He knew well what an extraordinary gift Que Tian had given him. The Vermilion Bird's Burning Heaven Flame was a priceless treasure by any measure.

"I perished long ago, leaving this shadow behind only to seek a worthy successor for the Burning Heaven Flame. That you were able to subdue it is fate," Que Tian replied with a wave, his tone heavy with reflection. "And a world with one more strong warrior is all the better…"

Lin Langtian paused, sensing the deeper meaning in Que Tian's words. Unlike Qing Zhi, who presided over the Azure Dragon Hall, Que Tian had not survived into the present age. The Four Great Halls were ancient orders from a bygone era; if the Vermilion Bird Hall still retained another powerful guardian like Que Tian, it would never have fallen to ruin in the first place.

"Now that the Burning Heaven Flame is yours, I have completed my duty. It's time for me to fade away…" With these parting words, Que Tian's figure began to dissolve. Watching this, Lin Langtian's expression grew solemn. Although he had known Que Tian only briefly, receiving the Burning Heaven Flame made Que Tian a mentor of sorts. Furthermore, Que Tian's dedication to fighting the Dark Spirits commanded deep respect.

"Farewell, Senior!" Lin Langtian clasped his hands in reverent salute, honoring Que Tian with sincere respect.

"Born without fear, fighting to the end—that is the code of the Vermilion Bird Hall," Que Tian said, his voice resonating with pride. "Lin Langtian, I hope you will carry this legacy forward." His eyes rested on Lin Langtian for a moment longer before he added, "When I am gone, this sea of flames will vanish too, and beneath me lies a final gift for you: the Vermilion Bird's bloodline."

As Que Tian's shadow grew ever fainter, he disappeared entirely under Lin Langtian's gaze. Lin Langtian bowed three times where Que Tian had stood, paying respects to this ancient protector of the continent.

As Lin Langtian rose from his final bow, the sea of flames began to rumble. Space warped around him, and the waves of fire quickly started to dissipate.

"So it's ending…" he whispered to himself, watching as Que Tian's words came to pass, the Vermilion Bird's trial dissolving along with its creator's presence. The space around him twisted and shattered, like a mirror breaking apart, and all that remained was a dull, silent void.

Then, beneath where Que Tian had stood, the gigantic form of the Vermilion Bird shattered along with the flames. From the crumbling figure, a brilliant red thread of energy surged forth, radiating a formidable power. Recognizing the opportunity, Lin Langtian quickly summoned it with a wave of his hand. The energy coalesced into a concentrated orb of crimson light in his palm, filled with the noble and ancient essence of the Vermilion Bird.

"This is… the Vermilion Bird's bloodline?" Lin Langtian whispered in awe, delighted. The crimson sphere hovered in his hand, faint echoes of the Vermilion Bird's majestic cries emanating from it, carrying an aura of ancient nobility and strength. This was an authentic, ancient bloodline of the Vermilion Bird—a final gift from Que Tian.

Grateful for this parting gift, Lin Langtian considered it carefully, then said, "Aunt Ling, could this Vermilion Bird bloodline be useful for you?"

While incredibly valuable, Lin Langtian felt that Aunt Ling was his most reliable companion and elder. If it could aid her recovery, he would give it to her without hesitation.

"Heh, so you thought of me!" Aunt Ling teased. After a moment, she continued, "Though the Vermilion Bird is a close relative of my Nine Nether Sparrow lineage, it's actually the Kunpeng bloodline that would best help me recover my true form. That said, this bloodline will still strengthen me. Let's split it—you keep half for yourself, and the other half I can use to regain some strength. Plus, you can refine it with your Scarlet Eagle Bone Wings. The Vermilion Bird's speed will be a huge advantage for you."

Hearing her suggestion, Lin Langtian's eyes lit up. If the Vermilion Bird bloodline could enhance his bone wings, he could potentially gain the Vermilion Bird's speed himself! Energized by the thought, he swiftly split the crimson essence, giving half to Aunt Ling.

"To encounter such a pure bloodline on this continent… Thank you, Langtian," Aunt Ling said with a hint of warmth in her voice.

Their years together had shifted her view of Lin Langtian. His strength, character, and fortune were indeed rare, and if he continued on this path, he could very well leave behind a lasting legacy.

Sensing Aunt Ling's change in sentiment, Lin Langtian stretched and smiled, saying, "Don't worry, Aunt Ling—I'm also interested in exploring the Great Thousand World you mentioned. One day, we'll venture there together."
