Chapter 9: 8. Underground Hunt (4)
Clang!
The entities on the fourth layer were close to the main boss; they were like failures and were driven out to the fourth layer.
[Magma lizards]
Their blood was golden in nature, and their skin was like leather, hard to cut through; not only that, they were also extremely fast and cunning when fighting; their strength, added to their skills in group assault, gave them the title of lizard warriors.
The lizard roared, and his sword came down at Ethan, who fully bent to the left, escaping the hit; twisting his body as he bent, he swung his blade upwards.
We could see his blade coming in contact with the lizard's skin, and an immediate reaction to the poison, and the lizard's skin occurred.
Sizzling
Shrack!
Kyaaaaa!
The skin immediately burns out, enabling the sowed to tear into its skin, ripping off the thorax open.
The lizard stumbles on the ground, twitching for a moment before dying; Ethan swings his blade, removing the blood from it; he wipes his face and looks around.
The battlefield was chaotic; Katnese kept on defending and hadn't succeeded in killing one; the same could be said of the others.
"Seems like I would. I have to clear the rest by myself," He thought before seeing something interesting, "is she dodging it?" He looked at Katnese; sure, she had been defending, but the lizard warrior, too, hadn't succeeded in landing a blow.
'foresight' thought Ethan.
We indeed need core to become strong, but some minimal changes can occur throughout battles, "has she developed 'foresight' already that was faster than in his previous life? It is because she is facing near-dead situations again and again?" He wondered Ethan, but he soon kept that aside; he decided he wouldn't help and only focused on farming the remaining lizard.
He clenched his sword and picked up the lizard weapon; it looked like a sword made out of bones; he did not think of muck; rotating the sword on his left hand, he was satisfied, and he immediately jumped towards his new victim.
"Left, left again, right!" She kept on murmuring directions, "Up, down, by the side." And each time, a sharp sword would miss.
Katnese was already exhausted; dodging without striking wasn't good; she thought Ethan would run to her rescue but was shocked when she found him looking away from her and rushing to another lizard.
She gritted her teeth, remorseful of his act; she bit her lips and tried to parade; this was a bad Idea.
Bang!
She was pushed back several steps, her hand trembling, she sweated out of fear, her gaze unfocused, she only had one thought.
'strong!'
The strength exerted was strong; if careless, she would die; she looked up at the approaching lizard. Is this where she dies?
"Don't slow him down!" Her leg came forward, taking her stand; the lizard's body moved forward before bending to take momentum to slash.
"I saw that already!" Katnese dodged to the side, her brown eyes flashed with a light blue as she came in close but dangerous contact with the lizard.
She felt a gust of wind behind her, which was the lizard's strike missing; with a movement of her blade, she thrust towards the lizard's inverted scale located in his neck.
Puke!
Kraaaaaass!
The lizard trashed out, and Katnese had difficulty maintaining her balance; she gritted her teeth and pushed the blade deeper into the neck, golden blood gushed out, staining her face.
After a moment, the lizard's body became weak and fell to the ground; she removed her blade and wiped away the blood, her eyes gloomy; she looked at Ethan's back, fighting fiercely not far.
"I would not hold you back; fight alongside," She murmured, carrying her blade and the core; she gradually absorbed it as she moved towards her next opponent.
Damian paraded the strike, deviating it away; he gritted his teeth; this strength was abnormal, "bastard!" He roared, his veins bulging as he slashed at the lizard.
The lizard dodged and took a few steps back, but Damian was pissed by that and rushed towards it; the lizard was ready and slashed at him; however, Damian knew their patterns, and he vanished from the side and appeared by its side.
Miss direction
The lizard was confused, but it was too late; the boy punched him; it was Dimitri, losing its balance, and the lizard tried to fight back.
Swoosh!
However, his vision blurred as his head fell down; Damian breathed out after beheading the lizard, and Dimitri walked towards him.
"With this, that makes us six," Said Dimitri happily, but that could not be said about Damian, "we are slow; he is harvesting all the cores, " He thought, looking at Ethan savagely slaying the lizards.
The reason why they are all easygoing despite having some difficulties is that Ethan took the majority of the lizard units by himself, preventing them from moving forward.
Damian looked down at his blade imbued with purple poison, "Without this liquid, it would have been much harder; I need to get stronger." He clenched the sword as he and Dimitri rushed toward another isolated lizard.
Lauren's situation was much more complicated; with the help of Patricia and the quiet boy, they succeeded in subjugating four tests!" Lauren wasn't happy at the catch; she wiped her sweaty face; the two others weren't also in good shape, with the boy bleeding slightly from his shoulder.
"We haven't gotten much, and this bastard is already wounded, useless, She murmured; they heard him but remained quiet. It wasn't the time to bicker, as the head to hunt for more.
The sounds of clashing kept on going for hours.
Absorbing the lizard core, Damian looked around him, "at the end, we only succeeded in hunting 9," He thought; he absorbed four cores and felt his strength increasing greatly; he opened his stats.
{Damian Lockhart}
[Strength: 30
Speed:26
Dexterity:27
Endurance:22]
He didn't like the way his strength grew, but after realizing the power of a digit boost, he swallowed his complaints, with just one digit, his body's physical condition changed, he was an athletic person, but he had never felt this energized and well built, "I need more cores" He thought, his total cores since he came down amounted to seven in total.
He looked at Ethan, who was in deep thought as he stared at a shining marble, "what's that?" He questioned.
