Wrath of the Re-climber

Chapter 7: 6. Underground Hunt (2)

It was never supposed to be easy...

Swoosh!

Eeek!

A girl screamed and fell on the ground in shock; Damian immediately showed up and slashed vertically, killing the parasite; the blood sprayed, and he dodged the blood that touched the ground.

Tss....

The ground immediately melted inward, with vapor oozing out; Damian was disgruntled about the situation.

"This insect wasn't easy to deal with, any error, and you could be severely injured, " He thought, but his attention was directed elsewhere, "how is he fighting those creatures without burning himself?" He wondered.

Damian remembered, 'Be careful, the parasites here are hard to deal with, but after figuring out their pattern of action, they becoming relatively easy to kill'

"Damn you Ethan!" Dimitri was already angry with the fact that the boy he bullied was acting strangely but also ordered him around; now, he said he thinks we're easy to kill.

Ethan removed the sword from the parasite's body, and he nodded, looking around; all the parasites were dead, and their core was lying around on the floor; he started gathering his gains.

Dimitri wasn't happy at the end result; he looked at Ethan's pile of cores and walked towards him.

"Heh, give me some, you seem to have more than everybody," He said; everybody looked at Ethan and Dimitri.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Ethan calmly, his expression not changing.

"We should share equally, so everybody needs to have an equal share. Aren't we all together in this mess?" He said with a grin.

"You must be having a false idea; we aren't together; I allowed you guys to follow me; don't misunderstand," Said Ethan.

Dimitri was pissed, "what the fuck did you say?" He walked towards him, "Is it because I haven't bitten you? You think hunting a few beasts would make you stronger?!" Dimitri lifted his sword, ready to strike.

"Dimitri!"

Dimitri stopped.

He turned and looked at Damian with an angry expression; Damian was seemingly not happy with the sharing, but it wasn't yet the moment to react.

"Stand your ground, take what you hunted, and keep quiet," Said Damian, Dimitri was seriously displeased, but he obeyed and spat on the floor; Ethan, who watched all this, did not care and resumed what he was doing.

Katnese trembled slightly; for a moment, she was certain she saw Ethan ready to strike; that strike was aimed at killing.

After absorbing the cores, everybody opened up their panels to take a look. Their panels were built as such, only they could see what was written down, and from the frowns and sorrow from all, it was certain that their stats did not go that high.

'it's normal, the cores aren't that much, the beginner level only helps people to gain minimum strength enough to endure the hardship of the next layers'

Ethan glances at them before looking at his panel...

{Ethan Grimm}

[Stats]

[Strength: 34

Speed:44

Dexterity:33

Endurance:30]

[Blessing: Vampirism]

Ethan was not too satisfied with his endurance stats, he needed to find a way to increase it before facing the last boss.

The reason why his stats were abnormally strong was due to the help of vampirism; the rabbit blood he absorbed added to his stats. He was certainly the strongest 12-year-old kid in this group, and the others didn't know about that.

Ethan closed his stats and looked towards Katnese who was checking her stats.

{Katnese Hathaway}

[Stats]

[Strength:20

Speed:12

Dexterity:20

Endurance:10]

Ethan was pleased; if shown how to carry out a task, Katnese could do good; with that, he would help her here and there and leave her to grow by herself.

{Damian Lockhart}

[Strength: 23

Speed:19

Dexterity:20

Endurance:15]

"I am getting stronger; with these increases in strength, I will soon recover the leading role and put him down," Thought Damian, looking at Ethan's back.

Their group consisted of four boys and four girls, in total, eight people, who walked downward towards the second layer.

Ethan tied up the rabbit skin and walked forward, seeing his actions, Lauren came forward and asked.

"What are you going to do with those parasite shells?" She asked.

Ethan looked towards her, his memory shuffling, 'I don't remember her much; after being separated, I never saw her again; she must have died somewhere between the realms, ' thought Ethan.

"It's preparation; there's something I want to do with them," said Ethan, walking forward. Lauren wanted to ask more, but Ethan cut her shot.

"There's no need to ask me anything more; we aren't that close for you to casually speak to me," said Ethan before walking away; Lauren gritted her teeth.

"That bastard, who he thinks he is, is because he helps us. He has to act strong and proud?" She thought, Damian walked past her.

"What was his response?" He asked; she shook her head and lifted her hand.

"He didn't say anything; he remains quiet," She said. Damian nodded and walked away with the rest. Lauren smirked, "I need to outsmart them and become strong enough before those guys come." She looked up at the entrance of the tunnel before catching up with the rest.

2nd layer.

"This place looks worse than the previous," Murmured one of the girls; she wiped away the sweat from her forehead; she wasn't the only one feeling it.

The more the move downward, the higher the temperature increases.

Screech!

"Huh?!"

Everybody took a step back at the sight of a black insect showing itself, everybody except Ethan who took a step forward.

"My next ingredient" 'Fluids of the dracus scarab' he moved fast, lifting up his blunt sword, he went for a thrust.

Bang!

The ear-piercing collision forced the rest to curse out, but it wasn't over; Ethan kept thrusting forward, his speed increasing.

'this would be harder than expected' he thought.

Soon, more dracus scarabe' showed themselves, and the rest of the members took their stands, ready to face the approaching monsters.

Swoosh!

The dracus mandible stroked where Ethan was, but he dodged and thrust at the vulnerable areas of the dracus; the creature was equipped with a strong shield, but his defense came at a cost; its speed was extremely slow, resulting in the dracus constantly hit in one spot.

It's head.

Crack!

A crack showed up, and Ethan smiled and put his strength in his thrust, 'one down' the dracus cried before falling, Ethan stood beside the corpse holding on to the core, his attention was carried elsewhere.

"More to go," He said, clenching his blunt sword.
