Chapter 129: Orochimaru Gets Disgusted

The proctor of the second exam, Mitarashi Anko, immediately put down the red bean soup she was holding and turned her gaze toward the exam grounds.

An explosion that intense... and it was caused by a genin? Which village has genin this strong? 

She called out to two of her companions, "Something's definitely wrong. Follow me inside."

Meanwhile, inside the Hokage's building, the Third Hokage also turned his attention toward the training grounds. An ANBU ninja appeared beside him and reported, "The Root operatives on duty say that Lord Danzō has taken most of the Root ninja out of the village on a mission."

The Third Hokage looked into the distance and replied indifferently, "Understood."

Inside the Forest of Death.

Orochimaru's body had been blown to pieces. What was even more terrifying was that the oil-like chakra that had landed on his skin continued to burn relentlessly. Back in the day, the Second Tsuchikage had been thoroughly disgusted by this technique and had no choice but to wrap his entire body in bandages.

Orochimaru didn't know what the Second Tsuchikage had thought at the time, but he could somewhat grasp the essence of this oil-based ability. Isn't this Jiraiya's technique? 

The bond between him and Jiraiya ran deep. They had known each other for nearly fifty years. When Jiraiya so much as twitched, Orochimaru knew exactly what he was up to!

Although his body had been blown apart, Orochimaru wasn't dead. In fact, he was still very much alive.

With a cold "hmph," his mouth opened wide, and soon a new Orochimaru, covered in slime, emerged from the shattered remains of his previous body.

Without the need for hand seals, he mimicked the way a snake sheds its skin, transferring all damage to the discarded body. This was the most perfect substitution technique Orochimaru Style: Body Replacement Technique.

As the new body appeared, the empty shell of the old one was quickly burned to ashes by the flames. Orochimaru licked his lips with his long tongue as he stared at Ino, who was standing in place.

"You must have used up a lot of chakra, right? Can you even use that water clone technique again? Run along now, little girl. If I catch you, I'll torture you to death," Orochimaru sneered, his face dark as he scanned the surroundings.

Ino, hidden nearby using the Hiding in Mist Technique and her summon's invisibility ability, spoke from within the mist. 

"And what about your chakra? That level of substitution technique must have drained you even more than it did me. Maybe you should be the one running," Ino retorted. Despite her exhaustion, both mentally and physically, she forced herself to form hand seals once more, relying on her abundant chakra reserves.

Orochimaru's eyes narrowed as he glanced to the sides. 

Suddenly, a large amount of water vapor shot into the sky. The cold air caused it to condense, and as the vapor mixed with dust in the air, it formed hailstones. These hailstones still contained Ino's chakra, and with her hand seals, the water clone reformed. The plump explosive clone reappeared.

"Katsu!" Ino shouted.

The chubby Ino dodged two wind-style ninjutsu that Orochimaru had tentatively released, and the two collided once again. The resulting explosion was just as intense as the one thirty seconds prior.

Orochimaru, having expended a great deal of stamina, was forced to use the Orochimaru Style: Body Replacement Technique again to heal all his injuries. Before he could even catch his breath, he saw the smaller, plump Ino preparing to initiate another explosion.

"Katsu!"

Boom! Another deafening explosion.

"Katsu!"

Orochimaru was blown to pieces once more.

He felt as if he had swallowed a fly. Normally, it was he who used the Orochimaru Style: Body Replacement Technique to disgust his opponents. But today, he was the one being disgusted by this endless cycle of ninjutsu.

After being blown up five times in a row, Orochimaru finally understood the principle behind Steaming Danger Tyranny, but he still couldn't find a weakness in the technique.

The only solution he could think of was to summon Manda, have the giant snake swallow the chubby Ino whole, and then cancel the summoning to send the troublesome thing to Ryūchi Cave. 

However, he didn't want to do that. If this thing ended up in Ryūchi Cave, who knew what kind of chaos it would cause? He still needed Ryūchi Cave and didn't want to ruin his relationship with the snakes.

Unable to think of a better solution, and with the Orochimaru Style: Body Replacement Technique draining his stamina, Orochimaru decided to cut his losses. Seeing the Konoha jōnin rapidly converging on his location, he chose the best course of action retreat!

He fled, and Ino fled as well.

Orochimaru, with his vast arsenal of ninjutsu and secret techniques, had plenty of ways to recover his stamina. As the thick mist began to disperse, he changed his disguise and returned.

He didn't believe that the girl had any means to recover as he did. This time, he was determined to teach her a lesson she would never forget.

Orochimaru searched the area, but the results left him stunned. Despite his immense experience, he couldn't find any trace of the group. He tried three different secret techniques for tracking, but still found nothing. Where did those genin go?

The Konoha jōnin were closing in, led by none other than his former student, Mitarashi Anko.

Orochimaru pondered for a moment. His plans had been disrupted. He hadn't managed to capture Sasuke, and he had been humiliated by a young girl. He had his pride, after all, and couldn't bear to face his old acquaintances in this state.

Choosing a direction, he quickly left the area.

Meanwhile, Team 7, Team 10, and Karin were hiding inside Ino's Ghost Castle. The summon's invisibility ability was top-tier. Even Orochimaru hadn't considered the possibility that they had been hiding in the same spot the entire time, never moving elsewhere.

Ino, having used Steaming Danger Tyranny repeatedly, was utterly exhausted. The immense pressure from Orochimaru had taken its toll, and as soon as he left, she collapsed to the ground.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Sakura quickly supported her. Karin seemed to want to help as well but was a step too slow.

"I'm fine. What about you guys?" Ino asked in return.

Sasuke hadn't been bitten, but he had stabbed his own leg with a kunai. He declined Ino's offer to heal him with medical ninjutsu. Sakura, on the other hand, wasn't physically injured, but the killing intent Orochimaru had unleashed had left her mentally shaken. If it weren't for her concern for Naruto and Sasuke, she would have collapsed by now.

The real problem was Naruto.

Orochimaru had placed a Five Elements Seal on Naruto's stomach, disrupting the Four Symbols Seal that the Fourth Hokage had placed on him at birth.

More seals weren't necessarily better. The clash between the Five Elements Seal and the Four Symbols Seal had caused Naruto to fall into a deep coma, completely unresponsive.

Ino, after using Steaming Danger Tyranny, had entered what she called her "Sage Mode" of weakness. Only after the period of exhaustion ended did she have the energy to address Naruto's situation.

Karin, seeing Ino's pale face, assumed she was injured. Instinctively, she rolled up her sleeve and placed her arm near Ino's mouth, gesturing for her to bite her and recover.

"What are you doing? I'm just chakra-exhausted. I'll be fine after some rest," Ino said, pushing Karin away. Then, remembering something, she asked, "Are you a sensor-type ninja?"

Karin shook her head blankly.

She hasn't learned Mind's Eye of the Kagura yet? 

Thinking about it, it made sense. Sensor-type ninja were rare and valuable assets in any village. If Karin had such abilities now, the Grass Village wouldn't have treated her so harshly.

Was it Orochimaru who developed her sensing abilities later? That's probably the case.
