Winning the male lead

Chapter 51 - My king(12)

“A bolt from the blue” wasn’t enough to describe Le Tian’s mood.

He still wanted to struggle a bit. “I need to speak with your Pope.”

The Holy Sea’s envoy completely ignored him, looking at him with disgust. “Your Majesty, please leave. The Pope does not welcome you.” They had long been displeased with his arrogance in the Holy Sea. Not to mention, he had angered the Pope to the point of fainting.

Le Tian: …Where’s the angelic temperament? Why is the temper so bad?

The system held back its laughter and egged him on, “Let’s not take this humiliation—just go back.” It would rather he stare at himself in the mirror and do unspeakable things than watch those two lovebirds being all lovey-dovey in the bath again.

Le Tian sighed. Right in front of the eye-rolling envoy, he took off his mask, giving his head a slight shake. His fluffy golden curls cascaded down like rippling water. Under the sunlight, his fair skin seemed to be coated in a faint golden glow. The envoy, caught off guard by this beauty attack, faltered in his icy expression, and his pupils trembled violently.

Furrowing his brows, he softly said with melancholy, “I’ll wait for him here.”

System: …So shameless… even using beauty as a weapon.

The envoy’s resentment toward Cyril instantly dissipated by half. How could anyone stay mad at someone this stunning? Just a frown from him was enough to melt even the hardest heart.

The envoy hesitated before whispering, “I’ll go inform the Pope.”

System: !!!

Le Tian smiled faintly, still exuding sorrow, lips pursed without a word. The envoy’s heart melted even more as he quickly turned back toward the city.

The system was speechless.

Le Tian: “Ah, life is just this simple for beautiful people like me.”

System: “…” It regretted sending him into this world all over again.

After a long while, the envoy returned—this time with a bruise on his forehead. His attitude had changed drastically, his face colder than ice. “Your Majesty, please leave. The Pope does not wish to see you.”

System: “Haha, life is just that simple for beautiful people, huh?”

Le Tian: …Failed to charm his way through.

Land must be really furious this time. Le Tian didn’t push further. Just as he was about to turn and leave, the envoy suddenly called out, “Uh… Your Majesty…”

Le Tian asked, “What is it?”

The envoy blushed and pulled a book out from his sleeve. “Can I get your autograph?”

Le Tian took it and saw it was the extended edition of the poetry collection Victor had written for him. The title now included: The Continent’s Officially Recognized Most Handsome Man.

Le Tian: “…Where did you get this?”

The envoy shyly replied, “This book is banned in the Holy City… I just happened to find it in the bathroom.”

Le Tian: “…” He suddenly felt his hands were contaminated with something unspeakable.

The envoy quickly added, “It’s clean!”

Le Tian: “…”

The envoy explained, “Just missing a couple of pages.”

Le Tian swiftly signed it and returned the book. “Is Land really refusing to see me?”

The envoy tucked the poetry collection back into his sleeve, looking troubled as he pointed at the bruise on his forehead. “The Pope threw a rock at me. It was this big.” He gestured a shape about the size of an egg. “Nearly knocked me out.”

Le Tian fell silent. Without another word, he turned, mounted his horse, and waved to his guards. “Let’s go.”

The system was overjoyed—finally, some peace and quiet. It comforted him in a gentle voice, “It’s okay. We’ll go home and replace all the mirrors in your bathroom. It’s no big deal.”

Le Tian: “Boohoo, Mom, I got dumped. I’m so heartbroken.”

The system, ever so tender, replied, “Mm, Mom feels so sorry for you.” Hahahaha, this is amazing.

Slumped in despair, Le Tian rode to a small river outside the Holy City and halted. Dismounting, he told his men, “Rest here.”

The Holy City was prime land—fertile soil, humid air. Le Tian stomped on the soft ground and told the system, “If it rains now, this would be the ultimate breakup scene.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the once-clear sky suddenly split with a deafening crack of lightning.

Le Tian: “…Mom, is that you?”

System: “It’s not me…” If it had the power, it would’ve rained, hailed, and thrown knives at him the whole journey to stop him from coming here.

A torrential downpour instantly followed, bringing fierce winds with it. Le Tian’s horse neighed in alarm and bolted with the wind. His guards struggled to control their own horses, yelling, “Protect His Majesty!”

Le Tian, battered by the wind, could barely stand. The heavy raindrops pelted his face so hard they stung like burns. Covering his face with his hands, he cried, “Ahhh, my face! I’m going to be disfigured!”

System: “You asked for it—a classic breakup scene.”

Fuming, Le Tian fought his way toward the center of his men while yelling at the system, “I meant romantic light rain! What is this?! The apocalypse?!”

His guards tried forming a protective circle, but the downpour was so intense that they could barely keep their eyes open. They could only call out desperately, “Your Majesty, over here!”

After about three to five minutes, the rain finally began to ease. The guards opened their eyes—only to find that their king had vanished.

Le Tian, too, was baffled. Once the rain subsided, he lowered his arms and realized he was still by the river, but now alone.

His armor was completely soaked, and his golden hair clung messily to his face. Looking utterly miserable, he murmured to the system, “With such unnatural occurrences, the culprit is obvious.”

A bad feeling crept into the system.

He grinned. “Hehe, our little angel is here.” Clearly, Land couldn’t bear to let him leave—hence the storm theatrics.

Feigning ignorance, he furrowed his brows and trudged through the rain, his expression filled with sorrow. His soaked armor made movement difficult, so he simply removed it, revealing the clinging, damp white robe underneath, faintly tracing his defined physique.

Wiping his face, he took a few more steps before seemingly losing strength. His knees buckled, and he collapsed to one knee, clutching his chest as he struggled to breathe. Raising his face toward the Holy City, he whispered, “Land…”

Hiding in the shadows, Land trembled slightly at the sound of his name. He told himself not to soften. Hadn’t Le Tian just walked away after one rejection? Did he want to be abandoned again?

Yet, despite his resolve, he still raised a hand to ease the rain.

Though the rain lightened, Le Tian, exhausted from days of travel, could no longer hold on. He collapsed into the muddy ground, splashing dirt onto his golden hair and pale face. His heavy lashes, weighed down by rain, fluttered before finally closing.

Le Tian: Hmph, my acting is flawless. Let’s see if he doesn’t show up now.

Sure enough, less than half a minute later, a familiar warmth enveloped him, lifting him up. Feeling safe, he drifted into real sleep.

He woke expecting to see his usual ceiling mirrors—but instead, he was greeted by the pitch-black entrance of a cave.

Le Tian: “…Land, my little angel, are you getting harder to trick?”

The system sneered, “Maybe he just didn’t want to litter outside.”

Just as Le Tian was about to bicker with the system, an unfamiliar voice suddenly spoke, “You’re awake?”

Realizing there was someone else in the dark cave, Le Tian felt a chill. Judging by the voice’s direction, the person was near the entrance. “Who are you?”

 of your text:

Wasn’t it little angel Rand who brought him to this cave? Le Tian suddenly felt an immense sense of loss. Had his peerless beauty passed its expiration date and lost its charm?

“Thank you for saving me.” he got up. The stone he had been leaning against was uncomfortably rough, making his back feel numb—he might have been injured.

He walked to the cave entrance. The heavy rain had darkened the sky, making it difficult to see even in broad daylight. He could only make out the tall and sturdy figure of the hunter sitting at the entrance, clad in a fitted outfit. He thanked him again, “Tell me your name and address. I’ll send someone to deliver a reward.”

“No need,” the hunter replied. “I’ll take it myself.”

Before Le Tian could react, he was pushed down.

In the pitch darkness, he could only feel the man’s heavy breath against his neck, sending a wave of goosebumps down his spine. “You’re looking for death!”

Cyril was no delicate flower. Even if he had been slacking on training, the combat instincts left in his body were enough to take down an ordinary hunter.

But this hunter was no amateur either. The moment he tried to knee him, the man sensed his intention and pressed down on his knee, almost forcing him into a split. Le Tian let out a small cry, gritting his teeth. “Do you know who I am? I am the King of Orland Empire! If you dare do anything to me, I’ll have you chopped into mincemeat and fed to the dogs.”

“King?” The man chuckled softly. “What’s so great about a king? Aren’t you still pinned beneath me?”

Le Tian was truly enraged and struggled violently, but he was no match for this man. The rough dirt and pebbles scraped against his expensive silk robe, and he could feel his clothes starting to tear. He frantically called out to the system in his mind, Mom! Mom! I can’t hold on! I’m about to get assaulted—save me!

System: “Stop yelling. It’s your lover.”

Le Tian: “⊙▽⊙?”

The system sighed in frustration. “Can’t you sense his divine power? Your divine energies are the same source.” Useless fool.

Le Tiam didn’t know how to sense divine power, but as soon as the system mentioned Land, he relaxed completely. Ah, his little angel Rand is really playing rough. Kinda exciting~

So his struggles became half-hearted, reduced to mere verbal resistance—after all, rubbing against the rocky ground was quite painful.

“Don’t touch me!” he shouted angrily. “I am the Pope’s lover! Do you want to face divine punishment?!”

Land’s movements halted. His throat moved as he swallowed hard before he rasped out, “You’re lying. The Pope has no lover. He has nothing to do with Cyril.”

Le Tian thought to himself, Baby, you’re so flustered you even called out my real name.

“I’m not lying. I’ve been his for a long time. He’s even marked me with divine power. If you dare touch me, he’ll kill you! Don’t think that just because he is gentle, kind, and beautiful that he won’t kill. If you cross his bottom line, he absolutely won’t spare you!” he sang Land’s praises, thinking, Baby, don’t be mad, I still love you.

System: … Kinda regretting telling him the truth now.

“Being the Pope’s lover doesn’t sound too bad?” Land continued in a sinister tone. “Even if he really kills me, it’d still be worth it.”

Le Tian: Baby, I didn’t expect I’d be more important to you than your life… So touched, I could cry.

To repay Land’s deep affection, he declared in a tragic voice, “If you don’t let go of me, I’ll bite my tongue and die!”

System: … A pre-announced suicide attempt? If Land actually believes this, then he might be a little dumb after all.

A burst of holy light suddenly illuminated the dark cave, revealing Land’s handsome face. Le Tian put on a very convincing look of shock.

“Only I can, right?” Land asked softly. Le Tian’s rejection had left him with nearly irreparable pain, to the point that he no longer smiled. His expression was tense, carrying a trace of sorrow.

Le Tian’s lips trembled slightly. “…It’s… you…”

Land’s brows furrowed tightly. Suppressing the storm in his heart, he asked in a low voice, “I’ll ask you one more time. Is it only me?”

Le Tian, still pinned under him and unable to move, whispered, “Come closer, and I’ll tell you.”

Land hesitated for a moment, his face darkening as he leaned in. Le Tian tilted his head slightly, pressing his lips to Land’s ear, and whispered, “Yes, only you, my Pope.”

Land’s heart eased slightly, but he still asked fiercely, “Only me for what?”

Le Tianlicked the edge of his ear, watching in satisfaction as Land’s ears instantly turned red. Ah, little bunny, stop pretending to be a big bad wolf.

“Baby, stop wasting time,” he purred. “Just take me.”
