Chapter 5
Chapter 5: I Got Up, One Kick and It’s Done, So What Now?
The moment the words left my mouth, the Black Tiger on the battlefield finally seized the enemy’s opening, its sharp claws bursting forth from the night like a flash, aiming straight for the unprotected neck of the middle-aged warrior!
“Come on!!!”
Naturally, the latter, who had been on high alert, wouldn’t sit idly by. Taking a deep breath, he yelled fiercely and swept his great sword backward without looking, charging forward with a desperate fierceness, seemingly willing to risk his life to seriously injure the Black Tiger!
But, well…
Whether he could injure the enemy is debatable, but Vilyric was sure that this swipe from the big tiger would definitely cost the man’s life.
At that moment, under the master’s command, Xiao Guang vanished in a flash.
Bang!
The jumping Black Tiger hadn’t even figured out what was happening when a massive force from above struck down. The whole tiger lost control and crashed to the ground, its head slamming into the earth with a sound like bones shattering.
Then it lay there, frothing at the mouth, knocked out cold.
The Little Dragon Daughter had controlled her strength well; since Vilyric hadn’t ordered to kill it, this hit merely knocked the big tiger out of combat.
On the other side, the man desperately swinging his fatal blow suddenly felt as if his weapon had been stuck in something. It was frozen mid-air, not advancing nor retreating, and the anticipated agony or death never came, leaving his expression of helpless determination looking rather ridiculous.
“Eh?”
The man puzzledly raised his head, and instantly a stunningly beautiful figure entered his view. The girl’s golden long hair danced in the faint moonlight, her wild tight leather attire showcasing her slender and exquisite form, and her clean little feet casually stepped on the Black Tiger’s head, resulting in deep cracks on the ground from the sheer force.
His sword was casually pinched between her two fingers, while facing her was an overwhelming, immobilizing power, creating an extraordinary sense of contrast.
What left the man most impressed was the girl’s pale golden vertical pupils, which gazed down upon him like a deity looking at mere ants, making him tremble uncontrollably, nearly dropping his sword.
“x, xxx?”
The man stuttered out some words, but the strange language made both Xiao Guang and the approaching Vilyric frown in confusion.
Language Barrier… Should I say it was expected yet surprising? It seemed this place indeed was a world utterly different from Blue Star and the game “Fantasy World.”
However, Vilyric had long anticipated such a possibility. She had several handy little items for two-way language translation in her backpack, originally intended for communication with different races and intelligent monsters in the game; little did she expect them to come in handy here as well.
Fixing a device resembling small headphones near her and the Little Dragon Daughter’s ears, the man’s foreign language, after some crackling noises, gradually transformed into words they could understand.
“Thank you, ladies, for your assistance. May I ask if you are also adventurers here to hunt the evil beasts?”
“Evil beasts, adventurers?”
Vilyric glanced at the pitiful Black Tiger under her pet’s feet. Could this guy be the evil beast he was talking about?
Seeing Vilyric and the others finally reacting, the man seemed to accept their identities and let out a sigh of relief, his eyes growing intense.
“Such graceful movements! To take down a Nightshade Tiger comparable to Ink Steel without even using martial skills; could this lady be at the Sky level, or perhaps a legendary adventurer?!”
“I, no no, I’m Lester, a fine gold-level adventurer from West Sea City. May I ask which legendary member of the guild you are?”
“Wait, how could someone of your caliber be doing a mere B-level quest? Is there something more to this matter?”
“??? You hold on a minute!”
Vilyric was slightly taken aback by the man’s enthusiasm, who looked at her like a die-hard fan starry-eyed and bombarding her with questions. She exchanged a glance with Xiao Guang, who wore an innocent expression, realizing that this guy named Lester was most likely misinterpreting everything. She decided to clarify things first.
“Um… actually…”
“Boss! You have to come see this! Leon is…”
A panicked shout came from not far away. Lester’s expression changed immediately; he couldn’t spare any more time to chat with Vilyric and the others, merely nodding as he hurried toward the fallen man.
Vilyric took one last look at the knocked-out Black Tiger beneath Xiao Guang’s feet. Although she hadn’t decided how to handle it, it probably wouldn’t move for a while, so she left it there and followed Xiao Guang toward Lester.
“Cough cough, cough cough…”
As they got closer, a strong smell of blood assaulted them. The young man named Leon had already been bleeding profusely during the previous battle, and after this delay, he hadn’t stopped the bleeding; a normal person should have already been dead by now.
However, despite appearing in critical condition, Leon was still managing to hold on, indicating that his physical constitution was far superior to that of an average person on Blue Star.
Vilyric couldn’t help but notice. Lester’s strength was also quite impressive. Was this the average standard for people in this world, or was this little team just exceptional?
Another strange thing was about Vilyric herself.
In such a bloody scene, her former ordinary self would probably be dizzy and nauseated by now, but in fact, Vilyric felt little besides mild annoyance at the rusty smell. Was this also due to the influence of Vilyric’s body?
“Hey, you punk! Hold on! If you die like this without reason, how am I supposed to explain it to your parents!? Stay awake, hey!!”
While performing first aid on the young man, Lester was shoving some kind of light green potion into his mouth and forcefully slapping his face to keep him conscious despite the dizziness from blood loss. After all, if he fell asleep now, he wouldn’t wake up again.
But obviously, the wound on Leon’s side was too severe, almost tearing his body in half, and this level of treatment would do little. If not for the little girl in the white robe previously releasing that healing light, he wouldn’t have even lasted to the end of the battle.
But now, that girl seemed to have exhausted her strength, a look of regret on her face as she was helped by the leather armor girl who had been hiding in the tree before, unable to maintain Leon’s fading life any longer.
“Cough cough… Uncle Lester… I… cough cough… I’m sorry. It’s all my fault for being reckless… I insisted on not retreating after dark… that’s why you all got dragged in… cough cough… Just forget about me… you all should leave quickly…”
The young man named Leon coughed blood as he apologized to Lester in halting sentences, clearly disoriented from blood loss, oblivious to the fact that the Black Tiger had been defeated, as well as to Vilyric and Xiao Guang’s approach.
“Stop saying dumb things! The Nightshade Tiger has been defeated; just hold on a bit longer…”
“…Alright, let me take a look.”
The black-haired girl in a white robe, holding a strange staff, gently pushed aside the blocking figure of one of the uncles.
