Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Divine Punishment and the Fifth Princess
The silver-armored general who made the move froze in place, and Vilyric could even see the disbelief etched on his face.
Not just the enemy general, but even the soldiers tasked with guarding looked completely bewildered, seemingly unable to grasp the situation.
“How is this possible?! Where did the princess go?!”
The man’s incredulous roar still hung in the air when, suddenly, the situation took a turn.
Boom!!!
Something inside the carriage collided violently, seemingly meeting some condition, and instantly erupted into a stunning explosion!
Including the man who had attacked, dozens of elite red-scarf warriors in close proximity were engulfed, with their leader flying away like a cannonball, crashing into several of his own soldiers before finally coming to a stop. Others were obliterated at the center of the explosion, leaving not a single trace.
In contrast, the soldiers on guard, perhaps due to orders, had deliberately maintained a safe distance from the carriage, and thus remained unharmed.
It was an ambush.
At this point, things couldn’t be clearer.
Vilyric wasn’t sure what prompted the attack, but it had clearly been sensed beforehand by someone who used special means to induce this chaos to happen sooner, laying a trap with the intention of capturing all the rebels.
“Not bad…”
Vilyric silently congratulated herself for noticing some signs and not rushing in to “save the day.” Otherwise, not only would she have been embarrassed from not finding anyone, but she might have inadvertently triggered that bomb-like object and would have been humiliated enough to want to flee to Mars overnight…
Well, since the cards were on the table, it was time for the countermeasures to show themselves, right?
Swish swish swish swish!
As if to validate Vilyric’s thoughts, seizing the opportunity of the sudden chaos as both sides fell into disarray, a flurry of sharp arrows shot out in the same direction, instantly killing all the necromancer mages. Everyone was shot through the brain, without a single one able to react!
With the death of the summoners, the filthy vortex they had collectively summoned in mid-air gradually dissipated, causing the revived undead to tumble down like a row of dominoes, alleviating the pressure on the guard troops.
Simultaneously, the mountainous area echoed with the loud battle cries accompanied by a clear yet authoritative female voice.
“I am the Fifth Princess of the United Kingdom, Liliya Meikailande! Brave warriors loyal to the kingdom, heed my command and charge! Exterminate the rebels!!!”
“Kill!!!!”
Countless warriors in silver armor surged forth like a tide from the hills on either side of the main road and from behind. Those soldiers defending within also quickly regained their composure, rallying together and shouting as they launched a counter-charge.
The sudden upheaval threw the red-scarf troops into disarray, and compounded by the trap severely wounding their commander, despite their numbers still surpassing the combined total of the surrounding enemy, they crumbled at the first touch, losing almost all will to fight and being slaughtered or captured in droves.
In less than half an hour, this battalion of several thousand had been completely annihilated, including their leader, the man who had been injured by the explosion. A few clever ones attempted to flee but were all shot through the head by arrows that appeared from nowhere.
A classic instance of a small force defeating a larger one.
“Phew, what a brilliant setup. This princess named Liliya is quite impressive; I’m a bit interested in her now.”
At the very least, if it had been her, Vilyric probably wouldn’t have been able to pull off the same feat, and she genuinely marveled at it in her heart.
“Just a bit of cleverness. Only the weak need to resort to these sneaky tricks.”
The little dragon daughter didn’t seem convinced; however, Vilyric didn’t counter her. After all, what her pet said wasn’t wrong—while strategy was undoubtedly important, in a world where non-human powers existed, having sufficient strength to achieve the same result, or even doing it more easily, also mattered.
“Well, the show’s over, and we should leave now.”
“Eh? Master, aren’t you going to go say hello?”
Vilyric chuckled and said, “Say hello? To praise them for doing well? I was quite satisfied with what I saw? They’ve already finished; wouldn’t it just be adding insult to injury if we went up now?”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you, Master… Be careful!!”
The pet miss nodded indifferently and was just about to turn when her face suddenly changed, quickly raising her hand and leaping several meters to appear in front of Vilyric, catching a cold-glinting arrow in her palm.
“…”
“Bastard! Presumptuous and ignorant lowly beings, how dare you offend my master’s dignity! I will annihilate all of you! Roar!!!!”
Before Vilyric could react, the little dragon daughter instantly flew into a rage, crushing the arrow in her hand into dust. A terrifying tide of energy rapidly coalesced in her mouth, forming a blazing sphere of intense light as she opened her mouth.
A dragon breath magic circle, larger than Xiao Guang herself, unfurled in an instant, centered around her small mouth, which was barely half a hand wide but unleashed pure destructive power that rippled through the air, tearing and twisting it!
This was a dragon breath that even pure-blood dragons could unleash, but when manifested from a level 100 Sacred Crystal Dragon, it was an entirely different concept.
“Hey, wait! Don’t rush into using your mouth!”
Boom!!!
A fiery white dragon breath erupted from the little dragon daughter’s mouth, and even in human form, with the magic circle’s enhancement, it expanded to a width of several hundred meters.
Fortunately, Vilyric’s timely intervention turned Xiao Guang’s direction at the last moment upward, but the scorching aurora still penetrated through the cloud cover, cleaving it in two. The beam spread for several hundred kilometers, still showing no signs of dissipating, and wherever it passed, all birds perished, leaving no signs of life.
That day, all beings in the United Kingdom and neighboring countries witnessed this scene akin to divine punishment, thrown into panic and unease.
“Roar! Master! Why did you stop me?! Those lowly humans dared to attack you, even if it was just at this playful level, but the malice behind it was the same! I cannot tolerate such things happening!”
“Alright, alright, don’t be so worked up, okay~”
Gently pulling the little dragon daughter into her embrace to calm her down as her pet completely boiled over, Vilyric pinched her sensitive tail end. It was just Vilyric; aside from her master, it was unlikely anyone else could hold back the anger of the Sacred Crystal Dragon at this moment.
“Ying~ Purr purr…”
“Um… I understand, Master, I’m sorry for acting without your permission…”
The little dragon daughter’s face flushed red as she lowered her head, looking wronged. Despite her appearance and development being more mature than Vilyric’s, at that moment, she resembled a little girl who had done something wrong and was shrinking in her big sister’s embrace, not daring to look at her.
“It’s alright; you were just trying to protect me. Anyway, since they’re so eager to meet us, let’s go have a look. It just so happens that I’m quite interested in this clever princess.”
Letting go of the little dragon daughter, who still seemed a bit reluctant, she temporarily returned to the pet space while Vilyric gently flapped her wings and descended in the direction the arrow had come from.
There, a strikingly beautiful girl, protected by a multitude of silver-armored warriors, awaited. Presumably, this was the princess.
“Who goes there?!”
“Protect the princess!!”
As soon as Vilyric landed, dozens of spears were aimed at her from all directions, creating quite an intimidating scene.
However, due to the dazzling effects of the skill 【God’s Wing】 still lingering behind the priestess, those soldiers, most around levels 10-15, clearly lacked confidence, with only the princess herself and a woman behind her managing to maintain their composure.
“Are you the princess of the United Kingdom?”
“…Winged person? No, the wings of winged people can’t be so beautiful, nor emit such pure light. Are you an angel, ma’am?”
A clear and beautiful voice, neither lacking in majesty nor authority, drifted from the girl in a luxurious long dress. She appeared to be about eighteen years old, with clear azure long hair, a jeweled crown atop her head, her skin smooth as if washed, and her beauty was stunning—she exuded a mix of nobility and elegance.
She was none other than Liliya Meikailande, the Fifth Princess of the United Kingdom, who had previously commanded the soldiers to counterattack, and chances are, she had personally crafted that battle plan. Vilyric could see this from her gaze.
She was a girl with a strong sense of direction.
