Chapter 18
Xie Zuo’s stomach burned like fire; he felt he might starve to death. He believed he could swallow a whole monster in one mouthful!
However, in the human world, there was no way for him to revert to his original form to eat any monster.
Xie Zuo was so hungry that he might lost his mind; he would devour any food, regardless of its nature.
His eyes fixed on Shi Yuan, who was still sleeping. He jumped up, ready to pounce and eat him, but Huo Yao grabbed and dragged him back.
“Who dares to stop me! I’m going to eat him!”
Unconscious due to hunger, Xie Zuo kicked and struggled randomly.
Holding him down proved challenging for Huo Yao. Xie Zuo flapped in his arms like a crazy fish, ready to slip away.
“Shi Yuan, get up!” Huo Yao shouted.
The thunderous sound exploded in Shi Yuan’s ears, frightening him. He thought his tribulation had arrived early.
“What’s going on?” Seeing the chaos in front of him, Shi Yuan shouted.
When Xie Zuo saw that Shi Yuan was awake, his eyes turned red, and he wanted to pounce on him to eat, saying, “Let me eat him; he’ll starve to death!”
Shi Yuan was stunned: “This is unreasonable; how dare you…”
Huo Yao scolded, “You still don’t go out yet!”
Shi Yuan shivered, hastily climbed out of bed, hugged the quilt, and ran away.
.
Unable to control the food cravings, Xie Zuo continued spouting demands. He turned around, fiercely biting Huo Yao’s arm through his clothes, but this body’s teeth were not sharp enough, only managing to fill his mouth with cloth.
“Bah, bah, bah!” Xie Zuo, spat it out, exclaimed, “I’m going to starve to death!”
This time, Huo Yao brought Xie Zuo out of the abyss without considering his voracious appetite. Though he left his spiritual consciousness to protect the original body, he forgot about the big-appetite demon king.
In the growth stage, Xie Zuo, a demon king, needed substantial daily meals. After arriving in the human world, he followed them, consuming three meals a day. While the body coped well, the original body, perpetually craving meat, couldn’t endure it.
Initially, Huo Yao could have fed Xie Zuo a few mouthfuls of divine blood to ease his hunger. However, recalling the last time when Xie Zuo was affected by the desire in his blood and lost his mind, Huo Yao hesitated.
Exploiting Huo Yao’s moment of indecision, Xie Zuo, fueled by hunger, exerted brute force, pushing him off the kang and running away on his own.
Xie Zuo was completely carried away by the hunger, thinking of the many people in the village—old, young, fat, and thin—whom he could catch to satisfy his hunger.
Before he could escape the courtyard, Huo Yao caught him.
With a stern voice resembling thunder, Huo Yao said, “Xie Zuo, calm down. Are you going to be completely controlled by your appetite?”
Xie Zuo, shaking uncontrollably, responded, “It’s not you who is starving…”
“Bear with me!” Huo Yao held him tightly with one arm, preventing him from breaking away. With the other hand, Huo Yao opened his own clothes, tapped twice near his heart to seal his five senses, and then traced two slender fingers across his neck.
Mellow divine blood emerged from the wound.
Xie Zuo pounced on it, greedily and hungrily sucking it.
Huo Yao’s blood entered his mouth, immediately soothing the hunger-induced anxiety with its strong divine power.
Xie Zuo hugged Huo Yao tightly, pressed against him, and whimpered, “It tastes so good! This is truly delicious!”
.
Only when Xie Zuo had eaten and drunk enough did Huo Yao dare to unblock his five senses.
This time, the divine blood did not have emotional effects, ensuring that Xie Zuo shouldn’t have any adverse reaction after drinking it.
Sure enough, Xie Zuo was very calm this time. After he was satisfied, he fell asleep leaning against Huo Yao.
Huo Yao picked him up horizontally, walked slowly back into the house, and carefully placed him back on the kang.
Even in his sleep, Xie Zuo clung tightly to Huo Yao’s sleeve, reluctant to let go.
Looking down at him, Huo Yao noticed the redness on Xie Zuo’s corner lips. Perhaps because he had just had a full meal, with relaxed eyebrows he sported a slightly satisfied smile.
Huo Yao gently wiped Xie Zuo’s lips and murmured to himself, “He is still a child; he is happy when he’s full and can’t bear the slightest grievance.”
“Hey -!” Shi Yuan cautiously revealed half of his head, “Shouldn’t you explain to me what he is?”
.
In the kitchen, the candlelight flickeredas Shi Yuan’s little face tensed. “I’m really impressed by you, Huo Er. Do you know what you are doing? You brought the demon king, suppressed in the abyss, to the human world! Didn’t you see the way he looked like he was about to eat people just now?” Shi Yuan paced back and forth with his hands in his waist.
“What on earth are you thinking? You don’t… regard him as a substitute for Heavenly Father, right?”
“No. Heavenly Father is Heavenly Father; he is him. I can tell the difference clearly.” Huo Yao responded.
Shi Yuan was dubious, “Is he the son of Heavenly Father and Xie Xiao?”
Huo Yao remained silent.
Shi Yuan shook his head, acknowledging that every demon king was created by world, almost comparable to deities, and Huo Er might not be certain about this demon king’s origin.
“What are your plans? He’s a demon king prone to going berserk and wanting to eat people. Do you really intend to have a relationship with him…”
“He and I don’t have that kind of relationship,” Huo Yao stated. After a pause, he added, “My father and I did not in that kind of relationship.”
Shi Yuan didn’t believe a word of it. “Okay. I don’t care about your relationship with him. I will never allow him to run wild on my territory; otherwise, I won’t be polite.”
“He won’t,” Huo Yao assured, looking into the room. “I will watch over him.”
“Then tie him to your waistband and keep an eye on him at all times!” Shi Yuan, recalling Xie Zuo’s attempt to eat him, felt anger rising. “Or I will kill him.”
The conversation concluded, and Huo Yao went back to the house to sleep.
Shi Yuan, fearing Xie Zuo might target someone else if left alone, dared not return to the main house. He caught up the sleep on the small kang in the kitchen.
.
At four in the morning, Xie Zuo was awakened by Huo Yao. Lu Xiaopang had arrived with a basket of freshly baked sesame cakes. Shi Yuan and him were drinking porridge and eating cakes around the boiler.
Xie Zuo eagerly joined them, looking forward to exploring the human world as he followed Huo Yao.
As Xie Zuo got dressed, Huo Yao was already tying his belt.
Xie Zuo admired Huo Yao’s appearance, particularly his slender neck. He stole a few glances every day, and today was no exception.
A quick glance revealed an issue—a scar on the side of Huo Yao’s neck, with several teeth marks!
Xie Zuo became immediately angry. Who had hurt him? Who dared to bite him!
A white light flashed through Xie Zuo’s mind, and he suddenly remembered last night…
Walking up to Huo Yao, he pointed to the scars, “Did I do this?”
“Who else?” Huo Yao resembled a creditor, grabbing Xie Zuo’s face. “Remember my words; you must not eat people or hurt them!”
Xie Zuo licked his lips, “As long as you don’t starve me.”
“Then just follow me.” Huo Yao dragged him to the kitchen.
Xie Zuo was secretly pleased. Unexpectedly, there was an unexpected surprise—it seemed he could drink Huo Yao’s blood.
