Who Stole My Eggs?

Chapter 15

Huo Yao felt dull.

Counting from the day Xie Zuo was suppressed by him in the abyss, they had known each other for more than a hundred years, and the two of them hadn’t spoken as much as Xie Zuo and Feng Yi had in a few days.

Occasionally, if they exchanged words, it would either result in being called ‘evil beasts’ or being struck by lightning, forcing them into silence.

Who would have thought that this guy would actually take him out?

Xie Zuo reached out and touched Huo Yao’s chin.

Huo Yao always had a serious expression on weekdays, and his body exuded a murderous aura. Even in sleep, his jawline remained tight.

Xie Zuo’s gaze fell on Huo Yao’s lips again. That night, Xie Zuo wanted to ‘burn’ his body. Originally, he took the initiative to grab Huo Yao and kiss him, but the situation completely reversed. Huo Yao’s lips were like flames, burning his whole body.

However, Feng Yi said that kind of happiness was not considered bliss; it was just scratching the surface. There was more to discover.

Xie Zuo took out the book Feng Yi gave him and laid on the pillow to read it attentively.

Xie Zuo was still studying hard at night, which genuinely surprised Huo Yao.

When Xie Zuo fell asleep with the book on his pillow, Huo Yao gently lifted one of his cheeks and pulled out the book. He wanted to see what Xie Zuo was learning and so obsessed with.

Turning to the first page, Huo Yao felt that something was off. It clearly said that the author was Feng Yi.

Feng Yi, proficient in yin and yang, writing serious content? Unlikely.

Huo Yao flipped through two more pages, and sure enough… they were full of erotic pictures, all depicting both men!

Upon closer inspection, the two protagonists looked quite similar to him and Xie Zuo. It seemed like it was a private order from Xie Zuo!

“Pa!” Huo Yao closed the book hard. With a flash of lightning, the album turned into smoke.

Huo Yao sat in the darkness for a long time before lying down again with a frown on his face.

Although the heated kang was warm, Xie Zuo instinctively sought a warmer place in his sleep. Turning over, he looked for the source of heat and leaned against Huo Yao’s chest.

Xie Zuo slept comfortably, but Huo Yao couldn’t relax for a long time.

After an unknown amount of time, Huo Yao sighed softly, raised his arms to hug Xie Zuo, and fell asleep with him in his arms.

.

The next day, just after dawn, Xie Zuo heard a commotion outside. He jumped up and found he was the only one left on the kang.

Shi Yuan pushed open the door and came in with eyes and noses high.

“Are you a pig? Have you done slept for so long? Get up and work!”

Xie Zuo stretched out, “Why do you want me to work, like a slave with you?”

“I’m not a slave!” Shi Yuan said angrily. “Don’t think if you stick to Huo Er, he will pull you up. You are like this, this kind…”

Shi Yuan struggled to find a vicious word but ended up without cursing. He angrily dragged out a large basket of herbs from under the cupboard and left.

After Xie Zuo got dressed, he opened the door and saw the small courtyard full of people. A long queue formed from the courtyard to the outside.

Huo Yao sat in front of a broken table in the yard, checking someone’s pulse. Lu Xiaopang and Shi Yuan were on either side of him, one holding a notebook and writing down prescriptions quickly, while the other grabbed medicine with a sullen face.

When Huo Yao heard the noise, he didn’t look back and just said, “There is food in the kitchen.”

Xie Zuo walked into the small kitchen and found hot porridge, sesame seed cakes, and a small plate of pickles in the pot.

.

As he ate, Xie Zuo observed that Huo Yao charged only two coins for treating patients and providing medicine, regardless of the quantity.

Little monk Shi Yuan was genuinely money-loving person, with how carefully he handled the copper plate; one might think it was some rare treasure.

This little monk was quite interesting.

After Xie Zuo had eaten and drunk his fill, he approached Shi Yuan and remarked, “How can you afford new clothes with just two coins?”

Shi Yuan immediately became furious, “You know nothing, these are merit money, not ordinary yellow and white things!”

Lu Xiaopang chimed in, “Yes, this is merit money. Uncle Huo open a free clinic in the name of Lord Beiyuan, and only received two symbolic coins. These merit money are used to build a temple for Lord Beiyuan.”

“Huh? This Lord Beiyuan is such a waste. Why should others help him accumulate merit?” Xie Zuo raised his eyes and looked around. “Yes, this place is so poor. There is no one with great merit to build a temple for him, so he has to rely on you.”

“You——!” Shi Yuan was so angry that he threw the herbs in his hand, ready to fight Xie Zuo.

Huo Yao glanced at Shi Yuan, freezing him in place. Shi Yuan put down his clenched fists and muttered angrily.

It sounded like Shi Yuan was scolding him, using words like ‘stupid and ‘forgetting one’s loyalty.’

Huo Yao had healed Xie Zuo’s injuries in the abyss. In the human world, even without borrowing divine power, his medical skills were superb.

Most villagers in the mountains suffered from minor ailments from years of hard work. Reluctant to go to the city for medical care, they endured until their conditions worsened.

Whenever Huo Yao returned, he could alleviate their illnesses. Unfortunately, the miracle doctor’s whereabouts were unpredictable, and no one knew when he would come or leave. So, as soon as the villagers saw Huo Yao, the entire village mobilized.

.

Xie Zuo managed to anger Shi Yuan, but the latter gave up on the fight. He dragged a bench for himself and sat next to Huo Yao, observing his free clinic.

In Xie Zuo’s opinion, these villagers with their backs bowed down were truly unpleasant and dirty. It was the first time he had seen such people.

Some had severe varicose veins, and their calves seemed to be covered with purple earthworms, appearing disgusting and terrifying. Huo Yao, however, didn’t show any aversion and personally kneaded and massaged the affected areas.

Others, who went hunting in the mountains and got bitten by wild beasts, refused medicine for a long time. Their wounds festered and suppurated, emitting a foul smell after removing their clothes. Still, Huo Yao didn’t even frown. He diligently cleaned the wounds and expertly bandaged them.

Xie Zuo observed Huo Yao with his chin resting on his hand. It was truly peculiar for this Great Thunder Deity. He typically attacked people without hesitation, yet he displayed such gentleness towards these ant-like humans.

“Pah!” A pack of herbs was thrown heavily onto Xie Zuo.

Shi Yuan glared at him. “Why aren’t you working? Why are you staring at Huo Er? Come here and help me get medicine.”

Xie Zuo ignored him.

Lu Xiaopang couldn’t sit still. “Why isn’t my mother here? She has been saying that her chest hurts recently. I’ll call her and let Uncle Huo take a look.”

Lu Xiaopang handed a pen and paper to Xie Zuo. “You write first, and I’ll come back soon.”

Before Xie Zuo could refuse, Lu Xiaopang had already disappeared.

Beside him, Huo Yao dictated the prescription. The villager awaiting the doctor’s recipe noticed that Xie Zuo remained motionless.

Xie Zuo clutched the pen, staring at the rough rice paper in his hand.

Huo Yao observed how he held the pen and suddenly realized a problem—a problem he had always overlooked.

“Huh? You’re not illiterate, are you?” Shi Yuan laughed loudly.

Xie Zuo: ‘I know how to read, but no one has ever taught me how to write.’
