Who Said My Wife Is A Demon!

Chapter 31 - Tainted

A single icy question made the hearts of Baima Pavilion members sink suddenly.

Li Yucong forcefully swung his arm and backed away several steps with his fellow disciples, drawing their swords in readiness.

Yang Shifei frowned slightly at the sight.

He had just been cautious and subconsciously guarded against the other side. Now seeing this reaction, it was quite suspicious.

Li Yucong held his sword horizontally, his face grim. “How did you find out?”

“Strangers cannot be trusted,” Yang Shifei replied, moving Luo Xian’er behind him. “Even newcomers to the Jianghu understand this principle.”

Li Yucong sneered, “It’s a pity I couldn’t kill you with a single sword stroke.”

Feeling the hostility from the other side, Luo Xian’er felt somewhat puzzled.

As far as she knew, the Baima Pavilion was a righteous sect, with no conflict with the Luo Family. So why would they suddenly attack?

Having received a confidential letter from the government to come to this place, they should have been trustworthy allies. Could it be that they were secretly bribed by the Qi Empire, becoming their lackeys, and were now helping them break out?

“When were you bought off?”

Just as Yang Shifei adopted a defensive stance, Luo Xian’er spoke coldly, “How much did the Qi Empire pay you?”

Li Yucong was taken aback for a moment, then clicked his tongue, “Two little thieves, trying to shift the blame.”

A man behind him growled, “Senior Brother, there’s no need to waste words with them. Since they have the audacity to betray the country, let’s kill these two traitors first!”

“Hold on,” Luo Xian’er took out the confidential letter from her sleeve, “We are not traitors. We were invited by Chief Constable Tie to come and assist.”

“Chief Constable Tie?” Li Yucong was again stunned, covering his forehead as if lost in thought.

And the people behind him showed even more confusion, as if they were sleepwalking during the day.

The sounds of battle below the hill grew more intense, but this place fell into an eerie silence.

Yang Shifei was quite surprised by the scene.

Was it necessary to have such a big reaction just from hearing a name?

Luo Xian’er seemed to sense something as she narrowed her eyes and lifted the envelope in her hand. “If you don’t believe us, you can see Tie Hanyang’s handwriting for yourself.”

“No need.”

After a moment, Li Yucong raised his head, his eyes seeming to erupt with anger again. “I didn’t expect even the Chief Constable of East City to betray us. It seems that only we in the Baima Pavilion can be trusted!”

With these words, the other three people, without exception, showed expressions of indignation, muttering that Chief Constable Tie was truly despicable.

Yang Shifei was completely bewildered. What was going on here—

Suddenly, a flash of insight crossed his mind, and he glanced back at Luo Xian’er.

—Murk!

Not only was Xiang Tianlin tainted, even the people from the Baima Pavilion were not spared.

“Is there a large accumulation of Murk in East City?”

“It shouldn’t be,” Luo Xian’er frowned. “Even if they came to East City a few days ago and were exposed to Murk, they wouldn’t be tainted so quickly. The erosion on martial artists is gradual.”

Yang Shifei’s mind stirred as he recalled Xiang Tianlin’s “diary”.

This person’s madness wasn’t something that happened overnight; it accumulated over time.

“They were tainted before coming to East City.”

“What are you two traitors secretly discussing?” Li Yucong suddenly shouted, pointing his sword. “If you want to leave here intact, surrender now!”

Yang Shifei paid no attention, whispering, “Is there a way to cure it?”

Luo Xian’er shook her head. “Once Murk enters the brain, it causes hallucinations. Even if the corruption is removed, his sanity cannot be restored.”

Yang Shifei understood. It meant his mind was irreparably damaged, beyond treatment.

The Baima Pavilion members suddenly rushed forward.

“You should step back.”

Yang Shifei withdrew his gaze, quickly focusing, and instead of retreating, he advanced to meet them head-on, unleashing a fierce barrage of punches!

Seeing the ferocity of the punches, Li Yucong was taken aback, sidestepping to avoid them, while simultaneously flicking his wrist to draw his sword and launching a sharp sword thrust.

Clang!

Yang Shifei leaned back, narrowly avoiding the sword, then swung his arm, aiming the back of his fist at Li Yucong’s face.

But three sharp swords also attacked from the sides, their edges gleaming, forcing Yang Shifei to abruptly change course and evade.

With a sweep of his peripheral vision, he saw three swordsmen leap out from behind Li Yucong, their blades aimed at vital points, effectively blocking all escape routes.

But there was always a way out.

Yang Shifei suddenly planted his feet, clamped the blades coming at him between his palms, spun in mid-air, and kicked, sending all three swords flying.

As he landed, he met Li Yucong’s malicious gaze head-on, exchanging blows with him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The four Baima Pavilion members stepped back, while Yang Shifei somersaulted several times in mid-air before landing back on the ground.

Li Yucong secretly squeezed his hand. “This guy has quite the strength!”

“Don’t engage head-on, form the Diamond Sword Formation!”

The four men changed their tactics, pointing their swords in the air, their momentum suddenly changing.

Yang Shifei rolled up his sleeves, his eyes cold, muscles bulging on his arms.

After a few rough exchanges, he estimated that these people were slightly weaker than the leader of the Feilin Gang, with Li Yucong being slightly stronger.

In a one-on-one situation, he was confident he could take each of them down in a dozen moves. But these four worked together seamlessly, the threat was far greater than just adding their individual strengths together.

A sword came at him, easily dodged. But when four swords attacked simultaneously from different angles, it was not as simple as taking a few steps back to evade.

“—The Baima Pavilion’s Diamond Sword Formation, specialized in dealing with strong opponents, capable of breaking through protective qi and cutting through tough flesh.”

A ethereal female voice suddenly came from behind, causing Yang Shifei to be momentarily stunned.

He glanced sideways and saw Luo Xian’er standing calmly in place, casting a serene gaze.

“You, a mere woman, seem to know quite a bit,” Li Yucong sneered. “But it’s wishful thinking to try to find flaws in my Diamond Sword Formation.”

Moreover, even if you find a flaw, so what? If a few words can reveal it to others, how can our sect’s Diamond Sword Formation be renowned in the martial world?

Luo Xian’er ignored him, only nodding to Yang Shifei.

“…”

Without exchanging words, both sides remained silent, but Yang Shifei seemed inspired, as if something had dawned on him.

He focused his mind, allowing the cold energy to circulate through his body, his mind calm as a clear lake.

The next moment, he suddenly moved.

“Form up!” Li Yucong shouted.

The four figures flashed, wrists turning to sweep their swords, cold light shimmering, converging like a vast net.

—”Three inches below the hand, a horizontal strike can break it.”

As the delicate female voice sounded, Yang Shifei lowered his head to dodge the entwining swords, then raised his arms and elbows fiercely to collide.

Just as one swordsman was about to strike, his blade was suddenly knocked away by a powerful blow, sending a numbing sensation through his wrist.

“This isn’t good—”

“I got this!” Another swordsman stepped forward, the sword formation pressing in with deadly intent.

Yang Shifei swiftly stepped back, his body low and agile, his arms swiftly intercepting the swords, blocking or deflecting their edges.

“From above,” Luo Xian’er murmured lightly.

Yang Shifei suddenly leaped into the air, his legs kicking out to either side, forcing apart two swords, while his fingers pinched the blade aimed at his abdomen, stepping on the shoulders of two men and suspending himself in mid-air, before bringing down a powerful palm strike.

“Ah!”

With a painful cry, one man’s wrist was instantly shattered, his weapon falling from his hand, and the formation hastily formed by the three men also fell into disarray.

Li Yucong’s face changed drastically. He never expected that this couple would cooperate so seamlessly.

He quickly turned to where Luo Xian’er stood, intending to kill her first with his sword.

However, faced with the impending threat, the young lady remained as indifferent as ever, simply standing quietly in place, as if awaiting her death.

—Clang!

But faster than him was a flying kick.

Li Yucong felt his palm go numb as his longsword was forcibly kicked away.

As he watched the opponent’s airborne fist swinging towards him, he instinctively raised his fist to meet it, the two sides clashing head-on.

With a muffled groan, Li Yucong immediately retreated several meters, supported by two companions pressing against his back. Although the four of them managed to dissipate the three layers of internal strength that shook their bodies, they still moved back a considerable distance.

“The Diamond Sword Formation is indeed not difficult to break.”

Yang Shifei landed firmly on the ground, his expression proud as he extended his right fist. “You can’t even take one of my punches?”

Li Yucong’s face was filled with anger. “It was that woman who was giving directions from behind—”

“You four were also attacking together, weren’t you?” Yang Shifei’s expression remained unchanged. “You have the nerve to say this?”

The four from the Baima Pavilion remained silent, their faces extremely unsightly.

“A punch to the back, two inches below the elbow, can break their swordsmanship.”

Luo Xian’er spoke softly, but her words revealed deep insight. “Sequentially striking the back, lower back, and ribs can break through their internal energy defenses, weakening their combat abilities.”

With her words, the four from the Baima Pavilion were even more terrified, unable to understand how their martial arts flaws had been seen through.

“Alright then.”

Yang Shifei’s mouth curled up, his figure sinking slightly, his aura becoming even more fierce and ferocious.

But at this moment, two figures suddenly leaped through the air and landed smoothly in front of the Baima Pavilion group.

This movement technique is not simple!

Yang Shifei frowned, while the people from the Baima Pavilion showed expressions of surprise. “Lord Jiang, Senior Wu Hai!”

Both old men nodded in response.

“It’s the former pavilion master of the Baima Pavilion, Jiang Wuyou, and the Returning Origin Blade, Wu Hai.”

Luo Xian’er came to stand behind Yang Shifei, her tone slightly solemn. “Both of these people have reached the level of Spirit Perception in thier internal cultivation, similar to Xiang Tianlin.”

“Are they also affected by the Murk?” Feeling the formidable aura of the newcomers, Yang Shifei’s heart sank.

“Huh, aren’t you Miss Luo from East City?” However, the old sect master named Jiang Wuyou looked puzzled. “Why would you be in conflict with my disciple here?”

Yang Shifei and Luo Xian’er exchanged glances, realizing that this old master had not been affected by the Murk!

“Master Jiang! Hurry and come to our side!”

Yang Shifei shouted urgently, “Your four disciples have been corrupted, just like Xiang Tianlin, they’ve turned traitor!”

Pavilion Master Jiang was momentarily stunned. “What did you say?”

He instinctively turned to look at his four disciples behind him.

“Yucong, quickly explain the situation to us. Is there any misunderstanding during this period—”

Ding!

A piece of a sword blade was firmly grasped between Master Jiang’s fingers.

His eyes widened, and his aged face was full of disbelief. “Yucong, you?!”

Li Yucong gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, his expression changing from one of confusion to one of bitter resentment.

The other three disciples also had twisted expressions, their eyes no longer showing the respect they once had, only hatred remaining.

“Traitor! You are unworthy to be our master!”

“What nonsense are you spouting?!”

Master Jiang hastily broke the sword with a palm strike, forcing the four of them back.

As he was about to speak again, a fierce gust of wind came from beside him.

“Old Wu?!”

Master Jiang’s face turned horrified. He quickly raised his fist to engage in several hard blows, the force of their energies clashing, resulting in a stalemate.

Wu Hai swiftly retreated to stand beside Li Yucong. With his hands behind his back, he sighed lightly, his eyes filled with both regret and hatred. “I considered you a lifelong friend, yet you betrayed our country for personal gain!”

“I didn’t do any of that!”

Master Jiang was utterly confused, exclaiming in shock.

Yang Shifei shouted again, “They are influenced by some kind of evil force, their minds are as twisted as Xiang Tianlin’s!”

Master Jiang calmed down a bit and stepped back, his old face full of urgency. “Young friend, what exactly happened? How did they suddenly become like this?!”

If it were only the four disciples, he might have understood, perhaps they were poisoned by some hidden weapon.

But Wu Hai had come with him, so when did he fall victim?!

“This matter is difficult to explain quickly,” Luo Xian’er said softly. “Pavilion Master just needs to know that they no longer recognize kin or allies. You must not hold back when you strike.”

“This, this…”

Even though Master Jiang had wandered the rivers and lakes for decades, he had never felt as perplexed and bewildered as he did now.

Just then, from below the hill, came a sudden shout, “Xiang Tianlin is fleeing upwards! Miss Luo, intercept him quickly!”

As the voice fell, a figure covered in blood suddenly jumped up onto the cliff edge several dozen meters away, exuding a murderous aura as if he were a god of death.

Yang Shifei turned to look, a cold light flashing in his eyes. “It’s Xiang Tianlin!”
