Chapter 45: Chapter 45: What Do You Think of the Moon?
A member of the Blue Persian Daisy within the radar team quickly had news of He Kui and Sule's encounter sealed off by the higher-ups, issuing a gag order.
Of course, this restriction was only for ordinary employees; many of the directors soon learned about what had transpired.
Only a day had passed, and before the special operations team could contact him again, He Kui proactively uploaded the design schematics for the Haro to the internal forum of the five major design bureaus.
The comments that followed were plentiful, with some praising the clever design while others questioned why he had released it so suddenly.
He Kui didn't pay much attention. After this incident, his Haros continued to sell, although the purchasing price had dropped significantly due to the influx of similar models.
While B-Level manufacturing couldn't match the quality and speed he offered, they had a price advantage.
Moreover, combining a B-Level information engineer with a B-Level fabricator was feasible, as it would speed up production, splitting the profits evenly.
In just a year, he found himself becoming a target for imitation.
"Lately, there are so many people selling Haros! You were the one who developed them!" Shi He exclaimed, frustrated.
"It's fine. Besides, the Haro design isn't solely mine," He Kui replied.
The market for Haros had nearly saturated over the past few years. Even if he tried to modify their characteristics, the average person wouldn't care much about the changes.
The purchasing price would inevitably decrease over time. The military was a massive market, but the units used by the military wouldn't be something he could provide; they were specifically produced military versions.
Even without the Haros, he could still sell transport robots.
"Still, we might need to go out less these days."
Fortunately, he hadn't disclosed his exact address previously, and with the tight security downstairs, he felt safe for the time being.
However, advancing to A-Level and continuing his research were urgent matters. Since they had come looking for him, he needed to finish his work quickly, especially since his salary had been disbursed.
At present, his finances could sustain him even if he temporarily stopped selling Haros. He needed to convert all his money into experience points first.
"Shi He, I've been thinking about a combined attack technique for the Haros."
"A combined attack technique?"
"Installing a magnetic system on the Haros so that in critical moments, they could stack on top of each other to deploy shields from multiple angles. If one shield fails, there would be a backup."
"That sounds amazing!"
"Right?"
To construct such a system would require the coordination of at least ten Haros. If each could add forty points, sending out a set would yield a total of two thousand four hundred points.
"Speaking of that, can I donate some of the Haros you gave me?"
"Donate?"
"Yeah! There are quite a few single-parent families recently. I saw some people collecting donations at the intersection on my way back today."
As the war intensified, no matter how much ZAFT boasted about their victories, casualties were unavoidable.
While compensation was provided for the losses, that money was barely enough for basic living.
He Kui had initially thought that dying in battle would secure a pension for his parents, as living here was difficult for them as natural persons.
After all, everyone here was an Adjuster, capable of taking most of the jobs, while the manual labor could be handled by transport robots.
Even a minor illness could be unaffordable to treat. Although technology had advanced, healthcare remained out of reach. This was partly due to Adjusters rarely falling ill, but it was not friendly to the natural persons living here. Coupled with the discrimination from other Adjusters as the war intensified, the feeling of being unprotected was stifling.
"Okay."
After saying that, He Kui's expression grew resolute. He needed to level up to A-Level quickly and develop the beam weapon earlier, both for them and himself.
After a month of calm days filled with frantic overtime and the tense atmosphere of a large-scale spy investigation, He Kui brought ten Haros to Sule's desk after work.
"What's this?"
Sule looked at the table full of Haros, exasperated.
"Haros."
"I thought you were too busy to make any more."
"No matter how busy I am, I can still find time."
The dark circles under his eyes told Sule a different story.
Thinking about how she had assumed He Kui was living extravagantly and neglecting his health, a pang of guilt arose in her heart.
Without showing her inner feelings, Sule continued, "I can't possibly use that many."
"You'll find them useful."
"Activate full-area defense mode for the Haros."
At He Kui's voice command, the ten Haros jumped out of their boxes in an orderly fashion, holding hands to form a massive shield around He Kui.
"You really are afraid of death," Sule remarked, impressed by He Kui's creative thinking regarding self-preservation.
"Who isn't?"
"Just go ask any random Sara faction member!"
"That's probably for the best," He Kui chuckled awkwardly, knowing they truly wouldn't care.
"However, this Haro must require a certain level of development, right?"
The system control required for this combined attack and the redesign of the Haros would consume more time than simple manufacturing.
"Correct."
Without the need for development, he could have sent them out in a week.
"You're developing quickly. Have you made progress in programming too?"
"Yeah."
Sule, being a dual-engineer herself, wasn't too surprised and simply smiled in encouragement.
"Deactivate defense mode."
"Understood!"
One of the Haros, designated as the leader, responded, and all ten Haros simultaneously retracted their shields, returning to their bouncy, adorable forms.
"Consider them a gift."
Having ten Haros following him around to and from work would be quite the spectacle. He felt embarrassed at the thought of others knowing they were gifts from him, but with so many being produced now, he figured no one would recognize them.
[Sule's Favorability: 100]
[Experience Bonus: 5]
[Information Engineering Level B: (9099/10000)]
Only five more to go.
Once he reached A-Level, with his understanding of the system, he could create even more complex movements for the Haros and other robots, raising the value of his dual A-Level status.
"Has the guard not come today?"
"Things have relaxed a bit. They found the main culprit yesterday."
"They found him!?"
"Yeah, it's a director from the power development team at Clark Design Bureau. Apparently, he was dissatisfied with not being promoted for a long time. Now, the Clark Design Bureau is overwhelmed, so there will likely be a change in leadership."
With such an incident, the higher-ups could hardly escape responsibility for the lack of oversight.
"That's better than not catching anyone at all."
He Kui sighed in relief. He had been living in a state of heightened alert, so the news was a welcome change. Now that he had some clarity, he could finally focus on his theoretical knowledge, which had completely materialized, and he could ask Shi He for
assistance soon.
"By the way, what do you think of the Moon?"
Sule suddenly asked, interrupting He Kui's moment of relaxation.
"The Moon?"
