Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Meal Expenses
"Here you go."
Shi He accepted the Haro, and He Kui noticed a subtle change on his virtual panel.
[You gifted Shi He Hanifus a Haro. Micro-component Processing +30]
[Shi He Hanifus Favorability 100]
[Experience Bonus 5]
[Micro-component Processing B Level: (4236/10000)]
[Sule Favorability 94]
[Experience Bonus 5]
[Information Engineering B Level: (2405/10000)]
It was a pity he hadn't finished the magnetic levitation Haro, otherwise the bonus might have been greater.
"Honestly, you didn't have to give me so much," Shi He murmured as usual.
While it could be seen as a couple's fun, she now had more Haros than a football team, having even sent several back to her home in February City.
"It's fine. As long as you like it."
He had to give it; if Shi He refused, he would have been left with no tears to cry.
"He Kui."
It seemed that genetic compatibility in their engagement wasn't such a bad thing after all. Seeing the smile on Shi He's face grow softer, she gently patted the Haro's head and set it down to play with the others on the floor.
"Your skills are really impressive now. You must be better at processing components than I am."
The pale pink Haro, slightly sluggish, was the first one He Kui had given to Shi He, and it contrasted sharply with the brand-new Haro.
"Well, I've been practicing~ But I'm still far from the real deal."
She couldn't do things like crack the Archangel's door lock yet; her system programming wasn't that sophisticated. Aslan was the kind of genius who could create realistic birds even at a young age.
"No need to rush; you'll only get better."
Shi He proudly lifted her little face, her bright eyes gazing at He Kui.
"Yes, I'll definitely improve."
The next day.
"The Victoria drop operation failed."
Sule stated bluntly as she examined the Haro in front of her.
"What?"
"It failed. The first and second airborne fleets' GINNs were completely wiped out."
"Were there any survivors?"
The news of the operation was likely kept under wraps internally as well as externally.
"Not for the first fleet; all their GINNs were lost. The second fleet seems to have quite a few that surrendered. This information won't be made public, and if I'm not mistaken, the highest council will soon approve a resolution to launch neutron jammers at Earth."
This operation was only a probe. They had acted quickly to stop their losses. It had been proven that relying on GINNs in Earth's gravity with precise radar lock had little advantage. To suppress Earth, they would have to use neutron jammers.
"Prices for various supplies are likely to rise soon, so stock up when you can."
The purpose of this drop operation was to secure more food supplies. With the failure of the operation and PLANT's already insufficient food resources, prices would surely continue to climb.
"Just keep this information to yourself, alright? Don't share it."
"I understand."
In fact, even without Sule saying anything, He Kui would learn about this news tonight. Shi He was part of the Sara faction and a top-tier B-level researcher, so the project director on her side would definitely inform her.
"By the way, I also wanted to talk to you about housing."
"Have you found someone to share the lease?"
It had only been a little over a week; how had she found someone already?
"I couldn't find anyone, but for your needs of five people, that's quite difficult. However, I might be able to help you apply for a spot in the director's dormitory area."
"A-level dormitory area?"
"Yep! There's a unit available right below me."
Sule smiled charmingly, though it would have been better if she hadn't been staring at that plate of spicy, sour salad while talking.
"Wait, your place?"
"Not quite. I can't occupy such a large space by myself. The two units can be completely separated by the staircase entrance, so it's similar to your current dormitory, just with fewer people. The space is the same size as your dormitory. Of course, this means you would need to pay me rent, which would be about 4,000 a month as you budgeted, how does that sound?"
"I'll ask Shi He first; it should be fine."
Sule's suggestion would effectively cover his transition period before reaching A-level, and being neighbors with Sule would also help him progress more quickly.
"Then it's settled! You don't have to worry about the rent; we can deduct it from your meal expenses."
"Meal expenses?"
"Any objections?"
Sule smiled adorably.
"None at all."
In fact, this was also a good opportunity to boost their rapport.
"Alright, then it's settled."
S
eeing He Kui agree so readily made Sule feel a bit shy. She waved her hand to dismiss him, urging him to leave.
