Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Unexpected
Elias sat on the edge of his bed, staring out the window, the quiet night doing little to calm his racing thoughts. Gabby had made her choice—1 for 1. The power he had carefully crafted as an option. He couldn't help but feel a little caught off guard.
It was a clever choice, one that could be incredibly useful. The ability to get something in return for a simple act of obedience. It was tempting, no doubt. He had chosen that power as an option for a reason. It wasn't inherently bad, just… unpredictable.
Elias ran a hand through his hair, deep in thought. He hadn't expected her to choose it, though. Out of all the possibilities, it wasn't the one he thought would appeal to her the most. But maybe it made sense. Gabby was smart—she'd see the potential in it. She could gain something valuable, something she might need in the future.
But then again, there was always the risk of pushing things too far. He'd already put limiters on their abilities, of course. He had to, just to keep things in check. The last thing he wanted was for someone to outgrow the others too quickly, or for things to get out of hand. It was why he had done it in the first place.
"It's not that bad," he murmured to himself. He had given Gabby the power, after all. He was the one who created the options in the first place. The power wasn't going to break the balance—he'd made sure of that.
Still, the decision left him a little uneasy. He hadn't expected her to pick it, but now that she had, there was no going back. And even though he'd set the limits, he couldn't help but wonder what she would do with her first wish. Would she use it wisely? Or would it lead to something more… complicated?
Elias let out a deep breath, shaking his head. "Guess we'll see."
