Chapter Six: Overnight
Finally, she found her room, the doorplate number 3012 was chipped and faded. It took Yuyin a second glance to see it clearly, and while unlocking the door, she was genuinely worried about breaking the key.
Inside, it was a studio apartment with the bathroom next to the corridor.
When she turned on the light, it was an incandescent bulb, a rarity these days, flickering occasionally.
In the dim light, the room was in a state of disrepair, with only a creaky old wooden bed and an 80-yuan plastic wardrobe from Yijia.
There were several well-packaged cardboard boxes piled in the room; they should be her luggage.
Yuyin locked the door and first lay down on the mattress-less wooden bed.
Today, she had experienced too much. This place, although much more run-down than the public rental housing she lived in with her parents before her rebirth, was at least a shelter from the storm.
Yuyin gazed up at the peeling ceiling, her chest rising and falling.
“I… have become… a woman?”
Change back? At least turning back into a boy would mean less trouble, but as far as she knew, that was impossible, right?
Since there was no way, there was no point in wasting time thinking about it.
Tangled thoughts were meaningless.
Unknowingly, Yuyin’s hand found its way to her chest.
The softness and height that couldn’t be grasped in one hand felt like a deep ocean imbued with feminine charm.
It was hard to imagine that for this school beauty-like body, others could only gaze from afar, yet she… could experience this? Could this be considered a rare blessing amidst the many encounters after her rebirth?
Although Yuyin’s physique might truly be excellent, and she didn’t feel tired, it was still time to rest.
“Organize my things, take a shower, rest, and I have classes tomorrow.”
Yuyin got up.
“First… take a shower?”
Or should she organize her things first?
Most of the boxes contained various clothes she usually wore. No wonder she used to be the young lady of Lingdu; each piece of clothing was exquisite and beautiful, far more than her past wardrobe, even a whole box of various lingerie.
She probably had more women’s underwear than she had ever seen in her life before her rebirth.
“These bras are so big…”
It was too late; if she organized them one by one, Yuyin feared she wouldn’t be able to sleep. She took out a change of clothes, pushed the boxes aside, and decided to organize them another day.
Besides clothes, there were books, her ID, student card, driver’s license, and so on. Even a driver’s license…
Next, it might be a more daunting challenge.
Yuyin first explored the bathroom.
Old and cramped, with yellowed tiles, there was only a showerhead, but at least there was hot water.
She returned to the bedside, not realizing the curtains were still open.
Yuyin took a deep breath, as if this was some kind of ritual to break free from loneliness, decisively unbuttoning her underarm clothing.
This white ancient-style outfit might be difficult to put on, but taking it off was manageable.
Gradually, the exquisitely delicate dress slipped down her long, jade-like legs.
Those slender feet, wrapped in silky stockings, yet still strong, arched as they slipped out of the high heels.
“What am I doing…”
As she progressed, Yuyin grew increasingly nervous, as if she wasn’t undressing herself.
Calm… calm…
“This, no matter how you look at it, is still my own body. Even if I’m not calm, what difference does it make?”
What difference does it make? Whether it was a rhetorical question or not, she couldn’t tell.
At least, she had managed to remove everything except her underwear.
The room, which had been lifeless, now filled with a feminine aura, as if the peeling walls had transformed into a series of ambiguous paintings.
Yuyin put on the slippers that had been sent to her, suddenly feeling touched; her mother was so thoughtful, even sending slippers.
She stepped into the narrow bathroom but froze in front of the mirror at the washstand.
“Is this… me?”
It was unimaginable that the delicate, frail little boy had now become a near-perfect, healthy, tall woman in the mirror, her body like a work of art.
Even in such a dilapidated bathroom, with the presence of this woman, it seemed to take on a profound artistic significance.
That height, that slenderness, that firmness, that roundness…
It was like the dew-covered beauty, the blossoming of life.
Yuyin couldn’t help but blush; she had a sudden feeling that this might be the most perfect life form in the universe. The things this life form could nurture must far exceed her imagination.
For some reason, she had this inexplicable intuition.
If she kept looking, Yuyin feared she wouldn’t be able to control her hands.
But there was an even more daunting challenge ahead: she couldn’t wear underwear while showering, could she?
The first time she took off a woman’s underwear was her own.
It truly left Yuyin feeling like crying without tears.
But, it might not necessarily be without tears…
…
Reborn as a beautiful girl, she not only had to face external challenges but also had to conquer herself.
About half an hour later, Yuyin emerged from the steamy bathroom.
Her toiletries, even those specifically for women, had all been sent by her mother.
Yuyin had no experience washing her hair and didn’t know to tie it up to avoid getting it wet; as a result, her hair was soaked, and even after changing into her underwear, her body was wet again.
However, her mother had even sent a hairdryer!
Xia Youxue must be her real mother in this life.
Taking a shower felt like undergoing a sacred battle.
Yuyin panted, wrapped in a towel, sitting at the head of the bed, and, relying on her body’s memory, skillfully combed her long hair.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t received any bedding.
Suddenly, Yuyin instinctively felt a gaze from outside the window.
She quickly turned around, instinctively pressing her hand against the towel between her legs, and saw outside a strange creature with a dragon-like head but a rounder shape, a carp body, and four small feet, swaying its long finned tail, swimming through the air, peering at her.
Yuyin didn’t know how to respond.
But this creature only stared at her for a few moments before swimming away.
Gathering her courage, Yuyin ran to the window and saw that in the late-night streets, there were faintly some strange creatures coming and going. In the alley, three little ghosts were patrolling, walking while ringing a bell, their faces ugly and their postures somewhat absurd.
Yuyin hurriedly closed the window tightly and pulled the curtains.
Although these strange things had never truly harmed her, she always had a sense of unease.
Could it be that in this world, she was the only one who could see these things?
Yuyin squatted down and rummaged through the books that had been sent; they were all high school textbooks and materials, with no books related to cultivation.
Getting through today didn’t guarantee she could get through every day.
Right now, she still had no power to resist, whether facing criminals or other potential threats.
Moreover, whether she could truly get through this night safely was uncertain…
Yuyin didn’t dare turn off the light; she directly laid down on the bed with two silk shawls as padding, not daring to fall asleep.
However, perhaps this body was truly too good; she didn’t suffer from insomnia at all. She lay down for a short while before falling asleep.
That night, she had no dreams.
