Chapter Four: Source Martial Artists
In Yuyin’s view, this seemingly equally developed world actually had a special class that transcended ordinary humans.
These people were called “Source Martial Artists.”
And the Source Martial Arts Academy was a collective term for various colleges aimed at cultivating Source Martial Artists.
According to Yingluo, graduates of Source Martial Arts colleges could easily find well-paying jobs, and even if they started their own businesses, the country would provide strong support. Female graduates were even more sought after. If one could become a Source Martial Artist, the prospects would be extraordinary.
Major companies were eager to hire female Source Martial Artists as CEOs. Dashing and hard-to-betray female bodyguards, smart and capable female secretaries… these were all in high demand.
The wealthy pursued longevity, ordinary people pursued wealth, and Source Martial Artists were the perfect combination of both.
“President! Did you see the headline just now?”
Suddenly, Xiao Huohuo rushed in, looking quite anxious.
Yuyin and Yingluo stood up, feeling confused.
Xiao Huohuo took out his phone and rushed over to show Yuyin and Yingluo, with other classmates gathering around.
It was a video with the title “Zero City Investment Queen Xia Youxue Entrusts Master to Fight and Loses, Billion Investment Likely to Go Down the Drain!”
“Yuyin, isn’t Xia Youxue your mom?” a girl exclaimed in panic.
Hearing this, Yuyin’s body trembled.
The video began to play.
“Clang!”
A blinding flash of a blade seemed to cut through the screen.
As the camera zoomed out, a robust old man with a white beard, seemingly of European descent, stood in mid-air holding a crescent moon blade.
Not far in front of him was a relatively smaller but very formidable middle-aged man from Huaxia, dressed in a Zhongshan suit, also standing in mid-air, wielding a long sword.
In the distance, behind the two powerful figures, were misty mountains, and to the east of the mountains lay the vast sea.
“What a long sword…” Yuyin couldn’t help but sigh. Both were men, and it seemed her mother had indeed entrusted someone else to fight.
“That’s the East China Sword Master Qin Ming and the Northern European Sea Emperor!” a bespectacled chubby boy exclaimed excitedly, his eyes filled with admiration.
“These are true masters; being able to invite such experts to fight, Yuyin, your mom is really wealthy.”
“Shut up!” Xiao Huohuo scolded angrily.
The two powerful figures faced each other in mid-air, the wind howling, the mountains and seas vast.
Suddenly, the East China Sword Master vanished!
No, it was too fast for the camera to capture.
Only a blurred figure of the East China Sword Master appeared in front of the Northern European Sea Emperor, his long sword slashing towards the Sea Emperor’s massive body.
The Sea Emperor swung his large blade to block.
“Bang!”
The camera shook, turning into a flurry of snowflakes.
“What happened?”
A moment later, another angle of the shot resumed from a distance.
“It was the shockwave from the clash of two great masters that destroyed the filming drone,” a student shouted.
Two powerful figures, amidst the vast sky, exchanged blows with flashes of blades, either attacking fiercely, blocking, maneuvering, or countering with feints. The Nordic Sea King was immensely strong, his blade seemed capable of stirring up a storm, but the Eastern Sword Master was incredibly sharp, showing no signs of falling behind.
“Boom!”
A white wave of blade light from the Nordic Sea King was dodged by the Eastern Sword Master, striking a distant wrecked cargo ship on the beach, which exploded violently, breaking into two pieces.
“Slash!”
The Eastern Sword Master’s sword energy grazed the Sea King’s thick shoulder, drawing a line of blood.
“Boom!” The sword energy hit the peak of a distant mountain, astonishingly blowing a small part of the mountain away.
The two fought fiercely in the air, shaking the mountains and seas, as if they were deities. Both sides were injured to varying degrees; for an ordinary person, merely being grazed by those blade lights would result in instant disintegration.
It seemed that a victor was about to emerge.
Suddenly, the Eastern Sword Master erupted at full speed, like a flash of black shadow, charging towards the Sea King. The Sea King swung his massive blade like a raging wind, but the Eastern Sword Master suddenly ducked to evade.
“Slash!”
The Eastern Sword Master struck at his opponent’s thick waist.
The formidable Sea King was momentarily halted by this blow.
Seizing the opportunity, the Eastern Sword Master circled around, took two quick steps, and climbed onto the Sea King’s broad back, his long sword aimed at the Sea King’s spine, piercing like a flash of light.
In that instant, the Eastern Sword Master withdrew his hand.
Though distant, it seemed one could feel a trace of compassion flashing in his eyes.
The video ended here.
The entire venue fell silent.
Yuyin stared blankly, her chest rising and falling deeply and uncontrollably.
For some reason, even though it was just a video, she felt as if she were part of it, experiencing an indescribable heat and excitement… this was not merely because this battle concerned her mother’s fate in this life.
After a long while, a small chubby boy asked, “Who represents Aunt Xia?”
“That Eastern Sword Master, Master Qin Ming,” Ying Luo replied.
“Then, doesn’t that mean Aunt Xia won? Why does the title say defeat?”
“Just clickbait, it’s disgusting!”
“No…” Ying Luo checked her phone, looked at Yuyin, and then said seriously, “In this master competition, the condition for determining victory is that the Eastern Sword Master must defeat the Nordic Sea King within twenty moves.”
“What!?” Everyone was shocked.
“That last sword was already the twenty-first move,” Ying Luo said.
Since it concerned Yuyin’s mother, someone asked with concern, but seeing Yuyin not responding, everyone dared not say more.
Even Ying Luo, for a moment, didn’t know what to say, just silently gazing at the profile of this long-haired goddess.
This is why major companies compete to hire powerful source warriors for high positions; in many difficult disputes, arbitration through martial arts is an internationally recognized practice. Of course, it is also possible to temporarily commission a strong person to intervene, but one must bear the corresponding unfavorable conditions.
It seemed that Xia Yuxue’s company did not have a sufficiently powerful source warrior to hold the fort, so they could only commission the Eastern Sword Master, resulting in a loss in arbitration due to the additional conditions.
Yuyin walked alone to the window, gazing into the vast night, surrounded by the star-like lights of the sleepless demon city outside the campus, where strange and beautiful creatures seemed to drift in the distance.
Though it was still hard to accept, she was indeed her mother in this world.
Wealth, a comfortable and superior life, Yuyin naturally liked those things. If nothing had happened, she would have wanted to use the advantage of her rebirth to pursue them.
But this was not an ordinary rebirth.
An ordinary, introverted, weak boy had been reborn as a tall, mature, and beautiful woman. Whether Yuyin accepted it or not, this was a fact that she could not change with her current understanding.
The truth was unclear, and the engagement to the ghost king sent shivers through her soul.
Her mother seemed to have gone bankrupt and fled overseas, but those debt collectors would certainly not let it go easily; if they couldn’t find her mother, they might not hesitate to turn their hands on her.
Once, when Yuyin was a boy, she had fantasized about heroes saving beauties and had even trained her body to protect the girl she admired. However, with a weak body and ordinary athletic ability, even training was of little use. In such a world, there was no place for her to shine.
But now, Yuyin could protect herself.
And she must protect!
This glamorous night could not hide the lurking crisis.
In this seemingly peaceful city, where was the safe path?
At this moment, Yuyin’s heart held no hesitation.
“I want to apply to the Source Martial Academy.”
