Chapter 37: Blocked at the Door
“Dao Bing?”
On the weekend, Yuyin was at home wearing a black lingerie set. She noticed a new piece on the Shishen Chessboard, a figure clad in old, grayish armor, yet without a body. The helmet of the armor was empty, but blue flames flickered within, as if it were the soul and energy core of the armor. Behind the armor was a tattered battle flag, its runes faintly glowing, quite eerie.
“Dao Bing, one star, purple rank, costs 4 soul charm to attempt to charm,” the female voice of the will stated.
“A purple piece? This is my first encounter. It seems like the armored night spirit I saw last week when I took a taxi back, but that one was much larger. This must be what Dao Bing looks like after leveling up,” Yuyin thought.
Now she had 36 soul charm points, so she decided to try.
Success.
Yuyin observed the battle of this first purple piece with great interest. As it struck, the runes on the flag behind it flickered, and she vaguely sensed unusual Dao fluctuations, but she couldn’t fully comprehend what those fluctuations were.
The combat power of Dao Bing was also quite formidable, wielding a large, broken machete, it killed a mountain ghost with just one move.
“Not bad,” Yuyin praised.
Although Dao Bing’s weapon was different from hers, its swordsmanship had already reached a certain level of understanding, providing inspiration for her own swordplay.
After observing Dao Bing fight for a while, Yuyin changed into a white short skirt and, once ready, stepped outside. By this time, it was already dark.
As Yuyin got into a taxi, a motorcycle parked at the street corner secretly followed.
“Qiang Ge, that woman has gone out,” said the man on the motorcycle, wearing a helmet, as he called Qiang Ge.
On the other end of the line, Qiang Ge was enjoying himself at a KTV with Zhang Biaoyang and several brothers.
“Good! Follow her and see where she goes,” Qiang Ge replied, turning to tell Zhang Biaoyang.
“Qiang Ge, should we deal with her tonight?” Zhang Biaoyang panted, speaking fiercely.
“It’s not good to act during the day. Xia Yuyin really dares to go out at night; this is called self-inflicted trouble!” Qiang Ge’s rugged face revealed a fierce intent.
Just then, Qiang Ge’s brothers were all present, including a few outside keeping watch.
“Babes, your Qiang Ge is going to handle some business, I won’t be back tonight. You all have fun,” Qiang Ge said to the women in the private room.
“Charge it to my account.” As he reached the door, Qiang Ge waved casually.
“Qiang Ge, can we open some drinks then?”
“Go ahead, consider it a celebration for me tonight!”
On the dimly lit streets of Lingdu, the sound of roaring motorcycles echoed from below the nightclub, headlights blaring, flashing blindingly. A total of seven or eight motorcycles, carrying a dozen people, set off.
“Xia Yuyin, tonight I won’t let you off!” Zhang Biaoyang revved his heavy motorcycle.
…
A group of motorcycles stopped in front of an old building on a relatively secluded street at night.
“Oh? That bitch really knows how to pick a spot?” Qiang Ge, wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket, stood on his motorcycle.
“Qiang Ge, she’s been inside for over an hour; she must be watching the underground martial arts competition,” the thug following Yuyin reported to Qiang Ge.
“This is the territory of the underground alliance; we can’t cause trouble. Let’s wait here,” Qiang Ge instructed.
“Qiang Ge, there are two exits here; there’s another one over there.” A tall man in a leather jacket pointed to a side street.
“A San, take a few brothers over there to keep watch. If you see that woman, hold her up but don’t act immediately. Call us over; be careful, this woman knows martial arts. Biaoyang has been injured by her before,” Qiang Ge assigned.
Several thugs in jackets jumped off their motorcycles and ran to the other exit.
Qiang Ge hung his helmet aside and lit a cigar under the night sky.
Two hours later, Yuyin finished her match, having achieved five consecutive victories. She changed out of her tight-fitting outfit in the designated dressing room, put on her white short skirt, tidied up, and stepped out with her black bag.
As a martial artist, she exited through the entrance, passing by the lounge dedicated to Guan Yu.
“Qing Yu Jie.”
“Hello, Qing Yu Jie.” Several crew-cut security guards saw Yuyin come out and bowed to greet her. Everyone knew she was the undefeated female swordswoman and had a good relationship with their boss, so they treated her with respect.
Yuyin nodded slightly, put on her sunglasses, and walked out of the underground martial arts arena.
As she walked up the stairs, Yuyin sensed something was off. Her source energy value had exceeded 170, and she had developed a keen perception of the subtle fluctuations around her.
But she remained calm and continued walking up.
As soon as she stepped outside, blinding headlights focused on her, and the roar of engines thundered as seven or eight bikers surrounded her, blocking her at the entrance.
Most were wearing helmets, and for a moment, Yuyin didn’t understand what was happening.
“Xia Yuyin!”
Zhang Biaoyang took off his helmet and forcefully hung it on the motorcycle handle, grabbing a baton and walking towards Yuyin.
Vroom!
A van accelerated from the street and blocked the entrance.
Now, Yuyin began to understand.
Zhang Biaoyang had been released from the hospital and was here to seek revenge.
However, having grown accustomed to battling life-and-death martial artists, Yuyin was not the least bit flustered; she stood there calmly.
Yuyin’s unexpected composure surprised the experienced Qiang Ge, who also got off his motorcycle, bringing along a dozen subordinates to surround Yuyin with Zhang Biaoyang.
At this moment, what was happening at the entrance was naturally captured by multiple surveillance cameras of the underground alliance.
On the top floor of the building, in front of a floor-to-ceiling window, Dai Jingni, dressed in a form-fitting silk gown, looked down and picked up her phone. “Miss Xia is our star martial artist; listen up, I don’t want her to encounter any trouble.”
Meanwhile, downstairs, Zhang Biaoyang was already gripping his baton, ready to strike at any moment. Two thugs in leather jackets, following Qiang Ge’s orders, were hiding behind, concealing a tranquilizer spray.
Yuyin glanced at these people and spoke, “Zhang Biaoyang, we were classmates after all. That incident was your own doing; if possible, I don’t want to escalate things further.”
Although Yuyin was not afraid of these people, with the college entrance examination approaching, and being outside of school without the protection of the institution, she was concerned that Zhang Biaoyang and his group might twist the truth. At this critical moment, Yuyin wanted to avoid unnecessary complications.
“Shut up!” Zhang Biaoyang’s broad shoulders heaved as he shouted, “Xia Yuyin, your mother owes my family tens of millions, and you’ve caused me to miss the college entrance exam, making my father and family lose face! Today, you think you can just walk away without giving us brothers an explanation?”
“What do you want?” Yuyin asked coldly.
“Miss Xia,” Qiang Ge flicked away the cigarette butt, crushing it under his big leather shoe, and spoke, “We don’t want to force you, a beautiful lady. You seem like a sensible girl; why don’t you come with us for a bit?”
Qiang Ge pointed his thumb towards the open door of the van.
“Where to?”
“Haha, why ask so much? To a quiet place where we can have a good chat and clarify things,” Qiang Ge replied.
“Hmph…” Yuyin snorted coldly, remaining unperturbed.
Qiang Ge seemed to grow impatient; he lowered his head and stepped forward, already within striking distance of Yuyin, slightly shaking his head, “Miss Xia, I don’t have much patience. To protect that pretty face of yours and that delicate skin, it’s better not to force us to act. Get in the car?”
Qiang Ge’s voice carried a hint of murderous intent.
With the college entrance exam approaching, Yuyin truly didn’t want to fight, but it seemed difficult to avoid confrontation today. She reminded herself to control her strength and avoid causing fatalities.
Just then, from the underground fighting arena, seven or eight security guards in black tight-fitting outfits rushed out, standing behind Yuyin.
