Chapter 32: Physical Examination
A new week began, and Yuyin was in a good mood, choosing a purple headband and putting on her school uniform to go to school.
In the morning classroom, as the college entrance examination approached, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Some students even took leave from cultural classes to go running or do push-ups. There was no choice; even for the second-tier source martial arts schools or specialized source martial arts schools, many wanted to give it a shot.
“This afternoon is the physical examination for all third-year students. Everyone should have been notified in the group yesterday. This time, the examination will not only check basic items but also measure everyone’s source energy value. This will help the school understand the situation and provide guidance for your application choices,” the young female homeroom teacher said.
A physical examination? Yuyin was slightly surprised; she had been too focused on cultivation and competitions over the weekend to check QQ.
But there was nothing to prepare for.
The class bell rang, and some students from several classes came out to relax in the hallway.
Long Xiaotian was leaning against the front door of Class Two, which was also the back door of Class One, surrounded by several classmates.
“Long Shao, you’re probably going to amaze everyone again in the physical examination this afternoon, right?”
“Long Shao, please don’t unleash all your source energy; give us a little less stimulation, okay?”
“Yeah, comparing ourselves to you is just infuriating. Since the school has Long Shao, why do we even exist?”
Facing the envious teasing from his classmates, Long Xiaotian leaned against the wall, hands in his pockets, smiling slightly.
Long Xiaotian’s vision and aspirations were completely different from those of these mediocre classmates.
He suddenly remembered something and turned to look at the classroom next door, where Yuyin was sitting gracefully by the window, chatting with a few girls, her long hair flowing, exuding an air of elegance and poise.
He walked over, entered Class One, and approached Yuyin.
Seeing Long Xiaotian enter, the surrounding classmates became somewhat wary and moved aside.
“Xia Yuyin.” Long Xiaotian, not very tall, stood by Yuyin’s desk, casually looking at her with a hint of nonchalance, “What school do you plan to apply to?”
“I haven’t thought about it yet.” Yuyin looked up at Long Xiaotian and replied. At that moment, she seemed to vaguely sense the unusual source energy emanating from this seemingly short boy.
Long Xiaotian casually scoffed and shook his head, “It’s nothing. I was just asking, not trying to gather intelligence. You don’t need to be nervous. I just wanted to tell you, Xia Yuyin, wherever you apply, I’ll apply there too.”
Upon hearing this, the surrounding classmates were somewhat surprised. A genius boy saying such a thing to the school beauty and student council president could be interpreted in many ways.
Even Xiao Huohuo, seeing Long Xiaotian’s attitude, felt quite displeased, panting heavily.
“Oh…” Yuyin didn’t know how to respond to Long Xiaotian’s words.
“That’s it.” Long Xiaotian glanced at the collar of Yuyin’s uniform, turned his back to her, and said, “Wherever you plan to apply, I can definitely get in, and I hope we can meet at our first choice.”
With that, Long Xiaotian left in a hurry, and many classmates around him didn’t dare to speak loudly before he left.
“…… So, what was he trying to express?” Yuyin looked puzzled.
…
The afternoon physical examination began, naturally separating boys and girls into different classrooms.
Yuyin’s vision and other aspects were naturally excellent, but she hadn’t prepared, so she was caught off guard with her attire. Fortunately, she hadn’t chosen black lace underwear; otherwise, it would have been a bit embarrassing to expose it in front of the female doctor.
In a bright and clean classroom, the girls lined up, waiting for the source energy measurement behind the curtain. The examination required them to remove their shirts and skirts, and they also needed to check their bust and hip measurements, as well as their physiological health, which naturally required a screen for privacy.
“Students, the source energy value is important information for each examinee and, to some extent, a form of privacy. Whether to disclose the test results is up to your discretion. If you choose to disclose, your source energy values will be displayed on the school’s big screen according to ranking.” Each time a new batch of students entered, the female doctor in a white coat would announce this.
“This time, it’s more humane. Last year, they directly published everything, leading to many students experiencing pre-exam depression,” said Sakura Luo, who was behind Yuyin in line.
“Yeah, if the source energy value is high, that’s fine, but if it’s not high and there’s no improvement, isn’t that even more embarrassing? I don’t want to disclose mine,” said a girl from Class Two.
“Next.” A female doctor’s voice came from behind the screen; it was Yuyin’s turn.
…
On the campus’s large square, the big screen installed in the gymnasium was continuously scrolling through many students’ source energy values and ranking information, but there were also many asterisks, indicating that some students had chosen not to disclose their names and source energy values.
“What!? Only… 63??? Ranking 158…”
Xiao Huohuo trembled as he looked at the big screen, disbelief written all over his face.
“I… clearly measured 65 before the winter break! How could it drop?”
Xiao Huohuo crouched down, covering his face in disappointment, but he seemed to enjoy the attention, as many classmates half-jokingly came over to tease or comfort him, playfully bantering.
“The highest ranking so far is Liu Li, who is really impressive, with a source energy value of 91… No wonder she’s from a prestigious family; she’s already secured a spot in the first tier,” a classmate wearing glasses exclaimed.
“Look! Long Xiaotian, is he coming?”
“So, he finished his test too? He must be in the last batch, right?”
“Hehe, it seems the rankings are definitely going to change.”
At that moment, the broadcast announced: “Li Hao from Class Five has achieved a source energy value of 95, temporarily ranking first in the school. Congratulations to him.”
“The results for the second-to-last batch are out, and this Li Hao is the second among the boys; he really has some strength,” many classmates admired.
“95? This Li Hao has some skills,” Long Xiaotian said, hands in his pockets, leaning against a streetlight, smiling faintly.
“Long Shao, how’s it going?”
“What’s your score?”
“Wait, don’t say it! We’re afraid it will scare us!”
A large group of students surrounded him.
“Don’t worry, the results will be announced soon,” Long Xiaotian said casually.
The gap between his score and the temporarily ranked first, Li Hao, was still considerable, but Long Xiaotian felt steady in his heart, showing little pride as he casually scanned the crowd, lowering his head, waiting for the results.
About ten minutes later.
Someone pointed at the big screen, which began to scroll the last batch of results quickly. “Look, the results for the last batch are out.”
All the students focused on the big screen, even though many of them had chosen not to disclose their scores, they all wanted to see who would be at the top. Of course, in their minds, there was no doubt about who that person was; the key was how high that person’s source energy value would soar.
Long Xiaotian, however, didn’t bother to look at the big screen because he already knew his score. He just kept his head down, quietly enjoying the moment.
The broadcast announced: “Long Xiaotian from Class Two has achieved a source energy value of 104, ranking second in the school. Congratulations to him!”
In an instant, Long Xiaotian’s previously nonchalant posture against the streetlight seemed to stiffen.
