Chapter 20: The Discovery of the White Ape
The warm sunlight streamed into the classroom, and Yuyin was sitting by the window, studying earnestly.
The countdown banner for the Yuanwu college entrance examination had been changed to 50 days.
Before her rebirth, she was only in her second year of high school. Although the previous world had a stricter approach to studies, by the second year, they had basically covered what was to be learned in the third year, and the entire third year was just full preparation for the college entrance exam. However, there were still a few months of classes left, so Yuyin had to work hard to catch up.
On Monday, she was called to the office, but instead of being criticized, a large group of teachers and the head teacher surrounded her, asking if she was hurt and telling her not to be afraid. The school would definitely handle Zhang Biaoyang and Chen Yan seriously. However, a female teacher quietly advised Yuyin to be more careful.
Zhang Biaoyang was said to be hospitalized, and a few days later, the school announced a major demerit for Chen Yan, but Zhang Biaoyang only received a reprimand, as it seemed the school deemed the incident as Chen Yan instigating, and Zhang Biaoyang acted impulsively due to her provocation. Yuyin didn’t question it; it was clear the school had its difficulties, and giving a reprimand was already an explanation for her, the student council president, and her fans.
“Physical fitness test on Friday, everyone remember to wear sportswear,” said Teacher Xie, the homeroom teacher, dressed in a professional suit and short skirt. She was in her thirties, recently married, and had the charm of a young female teacher.
“Source energy testing, physical fitness assessment, and cultural exams are the three major hurdles for the Yuanwu exam. Although source energy is the most important, physical fitness and cultural subjects cannot be neglected. Please prepare well and take Friday’s test seriously,” Teacher Xie added.
Yuyin felt she should have no problem with the physical fitness test; her fitness was excellent. It was just that… her sportswear had been taken by Ying Luo for washing last time and she hadn’t gotten it back. She had no money left, having saved up only a little over 300 yuan, so it was impossible to buy a new set.
“President,” Ying Luo walked over to Yuyin’s desk after class, “I’ll bring your sportswear on Friday morning.”
“Oh… thank you.” With that, Yuyin felt relieved.
She just wondered why the sportswear had taken so long to wash. Yuyin didn’t ask further; it was already nice of her to help wash it.
These days, her training in the God-Eating Chess was progressing smoothly, and Yuyin’s source energy value had already surpassed 80. She returned home as usual, still in her school uniform, a short skirt, and today without stockings, her legs long and fair.
When she opened the door, it was about that time when girls were usually out, and Yuyin’s sixth sense became sharp. She felt a hot gaze on her legs and turned back, but the corridor was dark and chaotic, with nothing there.
It must have been an illusion; Yuyin walked into her room and locked the door.
These days, she had also improved her ancient temple leg techniques and wondered if she could develop a main combat weapon skill.
But she had no direction for the moment, so she entered the God-Eating Chess and began observing Little Yuan leading the pieces on a hunt.
However, there were very few monsters wielding weapons, and even fewer proficient in a particular weapon. So far, Yuyin had only seen that broken戒青僧, but it had already been killed. She instructed Little Yuan to explore deeper.
That night, Yuyin’s consciousness remained in the God-Eating Chess, as it seemed discovering a technique required her to witness the battle firsthand.
During this time, something good happened; a team of small ghosts had leveled up to two stars!
Having reached two stars, they became five “middle ghosts,” meaning they had grown in size, and their weapons seemed heavier and larger.
Until midnight, although they had killed a few monsters along the way, no techniques were discovered.
“Ding, your white ape seems to have made a discovery,” the ancient female voice suddenly rang out.
White ape? Yuyin had almost forgotten about their existence.
She sensed the position of the white ape and found it had returned to the starting point.
Yuyin’s consciousness flew back to the starting point, where there were now two elegant tents, one large and one small, for Little Yuan and the medicine girl to rest.
Yuyin saw that at the southernmost end of the starting point, on a flat stone, there was a glowing object.
It was a crystal-clear fruit placed on a large leaf, emitting a faint purple pomegranate-like glow, surrounded by several white apes dancing around it.
Yuyin focused on the fruit and noticed a line of seal script characters appearing on it.
“Jade Body Ice Fruit, consuming it can strengthen the body, only for women, men are forbidden.”
Although it was in classical Chinese, she could basically understand it. It meant that eating it was beneficial for the body, right? Only suitable for women? What would happen if a man ate it? That was unknown.
The leading white ape lifted the leaf along with the fruit high above, seemingly offering it to Yuyin, while the other monkeys knelt in worship.
This meant they wanted her to eat it, right?
Just looking at it, Yuyin felt the fruit exuding a strange allure.
In reality, Yuyin couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement.
Wanting to…
Wanting to eat…
Then let’s eat.
With a thought, the fruit flew into the air, transforming into streams of purple pomegranate-like liquid, flying towards Yuyin.
“Mm…”
She had never eaten anything that made her body feel so comfortable. An indescribable sense of pleasure flowed through her entire body, a sweet taste spreading everywhere.
Yuyin felt her body filled with unprecedented vitality. Although her skin remained delicate and fair, soft, she sensed her strength was increasing in an incredible way.
Moreover, this enhancement was a direct improvement to her body itself, not just an increase in source energy, yet it complemented and enhanced her source energy.
Yuyin’s impression of the white ape also changed significantly; it was a bit lecherous, but upon closer inspection, these monkeys were actually quite nice.
That night, Yuyin slept very well, and her body continued to improve in her dreams, thanks to the lingering effects of the fruit…
The next day, during class, Yuyin found herself distracted, looking at the God-Eating Chess, wanting to find a weapon technique, and indeed made some discoveries.
There was a bull ghost, entirely gray-white, wearing scales that shimmered with green light, wielding a giant axe, looking quite fierce. Little Yuan and the others were having some trouble dealing with it.
“Discovered the ancient technique of the bull ghost, the Frost Hell Axe, do you want to start recording it?”
Yuyin thought for a moment and shook her head. Such a heavy giant axe didn’t seem suitable for her, and Little Yuan and the others were about to give out. It wasn’t worth it to wipe out for a technique that didn’t suit her.
So Yuyin instructed Little Yuan and the others to retreat.
It seemed that finding a weapon technique would take some time.
