Chapter Eighteen: The Little Card Stuck Under the Door
Could this Little Yuan convey her commands?
The first thought that popped into Yuyin’s mind was this. She immediately tried to direct Little Yuan to walk to a certain position, letting the little ghosts protect and follow her, and it worked effectively.
She tried various commands and discovered that through Little Yuan, she could indeed control other chess pieces.
Yuyin immediately ordered several teams of little ghosts, the winged snake, and Little Yuan to walk together. Having someone to control made a huge difference; this way, they could concentrate their forces to defeat stronger monsters, and if they couldn’t win, they could run.
After several hours of exploration, Yuyin found that Little Yuan seemed to possess a certain level of intelligence. She didn’t need to give overly specific commands; just vague instructions, like telling her to gather the chess pieces to hunt together, or to run if they couldn’t win, were enough for Little Yuan to gradually learn, although her judgment might not be as precise as Yuyin’s direct control.
Thus, the efficiency of training increased significantly; otherwise, most of the time, those little ghosts would just be waiting to respawn.
In the evening, Yuyin instructed Little Yuan to concentrate their forces, bringing the miner along to take down the rogue monk.
Defeating the rogue monk yielded a large amount of pure source spirit that Yuyin absorbed, directly increasing her energy value by 3 points, bringing it to 76.
Moreover, Yuyin discovered that Little Yuan was very clever. When she commanded Little Yuan to send out chess pieces to scout in all directions, Little Yuan would ensure the little ghosts avoided walking in the same places, showing a memory capacity that, in some ways, was even better than Yuyin’s.
Yuyin also noticed that when gathered around Little Yuan, those monsters fought more fiercely, their combat power seemingly enhanced. Little Yuan could also fight, but she could only use an old wooden slingshot to shoot out black-glowing projectiles, which had average attack power, but it was certainly not an ordinary slingshot.
Although Little Yuan had no rank, it seemed she had drawn a treasure.
Yuyin commanded Little Yuan to lead the chess pieces in agile hunting while she took a shower and rested.
It was the first weekend since coming to this world.
Yuyin had no money and nothing to play with. During the day, she went to school to run and exercise; there were still quite a few students coming to train on the weekend. Everyone was surprised to see Yuyin. The events of yesterday had already spread across various class groups and school forums. They said that later, Zhang Biaoyang was taken away by an ambulance, and in the evening, the PE teacher came looking for Yuyin, estimating that on Monday… she would be called to the PE teacher’s office.
Who could imagine that she, an exemplary student council president, would be called to the office for injuring someone? But Yuyin didn’t care; it wasn’t her fault. The court had surveillance cameras, so it could be clarified; she wasn’t afraid of others twisting the truth.
Returning home in the evening, Yuyin didn’t take the back door but chose the more bustling street in front of the school, wanting to stroll around and relax.
She wore a fitted white T-shirt, a black body-hugging short skirt, and black stockings that revealed a hint of her smooth skin, walking alone on the street of Lingdu, where the lights twinkled like brilliant stars.
However, despite the city’s prosperity, Yuyin was almost broke. As she walked, she attracted quite a few gazes. It was hard to imagine that such an exquisitely dressed girl, who would be hard to find a match for in Lingdu, was so poor.
In the evening, returning to her apartment building, the sound of high heels echoed in the dim corridor.
On one side of the corridor, an old door opened a crack.
Yuyin’s curvaceous figure and long, full legs swayed past the door crack, and in the shadows, a bloodshot eye stared intently at her back…
Yuyin didn’t notice. She arrived at her door, about to open it, when she found a small piece of paper wedged under the door.
Thinking it was one of those papers with revealing female photos and a QR code, she planned to pick it up and throw it away. She opened the door, only to find that the paper depicted a muscular man bound with spiked leather belts.
“?”
Yuyin was even less interested now. She picked it up, intending to toss it in the trash, but upon closer inspection, it read, “Underground Fighting Arena in Magic City, ignite your passion, release your stress! Real knives and guns, thrilling!”
“Underground Fighting Arena?” Such places were rare in her original world, but in this world where almost everyone practiced martial arts, it wasn’t surprising to have such venues. Even the two major companies on the surface used martial arts for arbitration, let alone the underground?
Yuyin became interested, noticing that there were two lines of small text at the bottom of the card with the address, stating that with this card, first-time visitors could enter for free.
The underground fighting arena was probably not a place for good girls. But Yuyin had never seen a real strongman in action; it would be hard to find such opportunities elsewhere. Since she was training, it was certainly for practical combat. Although Yuyin didn’t know what other situations required practical combat besides arbitration and dealing with bullies, she wanted to see.
“Just afraid it’s a scam…”
However, the overall security in Lingdu was still decent, and that place was in the city center. The time was tomorrow night; it might be worth checking out. If it felt wrong, she could always not go in and play it by ear. In any case, it couldn’t be said that there were no risks, but she was going to be taken away by a bunch of evil spirits to marry some demon king in three years. In her eyes, this magic city was filled with monsters wandering at night; what was there to fear about a little more risk?
Moreover, she wasn’t completely defenseless now. If she didn’t experience, didn’t see, and didn’t take appropriate risks, would she just wait for the demon king to come and take her away in three years?
Yuyin made her decision and walked into her room, closing the door.
She didn’t notice that the eye in the crack of the door across the hallway had been watching her intently from the shadows…
On Sunday, Yuyin didn’t summon any particularly good chess pieces, so she let Little Yuan continue leading the training. By evening, she dressed up and prepared to set out.
However, she didn’t plan to wear her black silk skirt and high heels to such a place; that would be asking for trouble. Yuyin found a lightweight camouflage raincoat, which seemed to be a very expensive brand. She didn’t care, put it on, wore a pair of jeans, tied her hair in a ponytail, and donned a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, making herself look like a star sneaking out, before leaving her rental room to head to the place on the card.
