Chapter 2: Chapter 2
After a small meal, Leylin returned to his carriage. He closed his eyes and rested in a daze. After some time, the carriage door opened with a bang.
Leylin suddenly opened his eyes grinding his teeth in frustration. Although he very well knows his current predicament, but he was quite irritated by his travel companions.
It's been a long time since his presence have been treated with such impudence!
Suddenly his nose was filled with the scent of a rose.
"Ley…Leylin! Are you well?" A pleasant, female voice said.
"Bessita!?" Leylin squinted his eyes. This girl was the reason for original Leylin's death. She used her charm to rally bunch of young nobles against him and beaten the boy to death.
Of course the real Leylin deserved to die, he was a pig in human skin trying to molest her.
The fragrant scent in the carriage suddenly grew more powerful as a beautiful young girl came near Leylin.
She had fair skin and wore red, tight-fitting clothes that accentuated her voluptuous curves. She had platinum hair and eyes like crimson jewels.
"May I ask what you want?" Leylin clenched his fist and asked in a neutral tone. It's been a long time since Voldemort has talked respectfully.
But the truth is, he can't provoke her as of now, currently he's a weak boy and she is a queen who have half the camp wrapped around her finger.
But although his words were polite his attitude was indifferent and cold. This mannerism somewhat shocked the young girl, as the words she was about to say didn't leave her mouth.
After a long period of silence, she pulled out a small, glass bottle and placed it in Leylin's hands, "This… this is a medicine for injuries. If you apply it to your body, it'll help you! I'm… sorry!"
The girl bowed, revealing the ample, snow-white curves of her chest, Leylin looked unbothered.
Looking at the disappearing red figure in the distance, Leylin furrowed his eyebrows.
He glanced at the glass bottle in his hand observing it curiously. As he opened the bottle cap, a medicinal fragrance wafted out, then he closed the bottle and threw it at the side.
He wasn't very keen to using a stranger's potion. The only reason he accepted George healing lotion was because, previous Leylin and George were somewhat of a friend and George was the only one who looked after the unconscious Leylin when he didn't need to.
"I can't feel my magic, the magic in this world works differently I guess. Do they use wands? or something else.. Although in this world muggles are somewhat aware of magical existence but they are completely oblivious about the details." Leylin thought, sitting down to rest. The original Leylin had little to no knowledge of Magus, expect that they held a very exalted position.
After Bessita left, thankfully no one else came to disturb him.
After a while, Leylin laid back down. Though it seemed as if he were sleeping.
'The Wizards here or should I say Magi hold a reverent position unlike back in my world where they hid like street rats.' Leylin thought with satisfaction, the idea that magic wielders walk the face of earth without caring about muggles, even ruling them gave him immense satisfaction.
'This is how it's ought to be! We wizards should rule! How beautiful... It's a shame I couldn't shed away the shame of muggle blood but no matter....As long as I have magic, I can cast away those imperfections.' Leylin contemplated while he processed everything he saw today. It was a bit overwhelming but also extremely exciting.
'More importantly I think those white robed figures who commanded those knights should be Magi, they saw me but didn't find anything strange about me. This means… entering a Magus academy should be safe without exposing my real identity.' Leylin was worried about crossing paths with wizards, who knows they might find something strange about him. He can't be sure if they have something like the Legilimency spell.
'Maybe they don't have such spell here, or maybe those magus don't know it or probably they didn't care about using such spells against children who haven't even taken a single step in the world of magic. Not everyone is shameless like that old Dumbledore using legilimency on childrens.' Leylin thought, whatever the case maybe it's a relieve for him.
If his real identity is revealed, any magus would be tempted to capture him and research on him. Reincarnation or whatever this situation he is in, would surely be very exciting for wizards.
'To be reborn in a world of magic should have been a blessing. Yet, here I am—stripped of my old powers, shackled inside the weak body of a wasteral...It would take months to arrive to our destination.' Leylin thought frustrated, he would have to spend months where he was powerless, vulnerable, and unable to even attempt the magic he once wielded with ease.
The thought of it sent a wave of irritation through him. He was Voldemort, the Dark Lord, feared and revered alike! But in this new world, he was nothing more than an ordinary boy—a weakling among monsters.
Leylin unable to do anything about his current situation, inadvertently listened to the soft murmur of conversation filling the carriage, punctuated by occasional laughter.
Among them were young nobles, children of minor aristocrats, all dreaming to become magus. Some had already begun to form their little hierarchies.
While he—Leylin was a target. He could feel it. In his former life, he had ruled through fear and power, but now he had neither. Thankfully his sharp mind remained intact.
There was no sense in acting rashly. He needed to be patient, to rebuild his strength. But how?
Then, a memory surfaced—one belonging to the original Leylin Farlier.
The boy had been a wastrel, lazy and without ambition. Yet, despite his failings, his father, Viscount Farlier, had drilled one thing into him with relentless discipline: the Knight Meditation Technique.
In this world, there were several mysterious forces. However, the ones commoners had the most experience with were Knights!
Knights go through tough training and had stimulated their inner life energy, far surpassing normal human.
To be a Magus, it required a specific kind of gift, and amongst tens of thousands of people, it was possible that there wasn't even one such person. However, being a Knight was different; as long as they were willing to put in the effort, anyone could become a Knight!
Knights were not only several times stronger than normal humans, but also well versed in using various killing arts.
The nobility class in kingdoms of the common world, were generally made up of Knights. Farlier family was also a knight family.
Being a knight is a crude method compared to the sophistication of magi, but effective nonetheless. Leylin would at least have some defensive ability to protect himself.
Knights were strongest of ordinary men, and though even Magi could crush them like insects, it was still something.
Leylin lips curled in a barely noticeable smirk.
It will have to do for now.
Keeping up his pretense of sleep, he turned his thoughts inward, recalling the meditation process step by step. It was a technique that strengthened the body through controlled breathing and focused will. A lowly power, but one that would allow him to endure and survive.
Survival first. Power later.
He slowed his breathing, directing his focus to his limbs, his heartbeat, the energy within his blood. The first step of the technique was simple: regulate breath, align body and will. Over time, it would increase his physical strength, stamina, and reflexes. It was a meager gain, but he would take every advantage he could.
And above all—he would stay out of trouble.
At least for now.
