Warhammer: The Worst Start There Is (40k)

Chapter 2: New Arrival

Guilliman, who had fully absorbed the memories of his physical body, could only use the word “What the fuck” to express his inner thoughts.

In just a moment, he had understood the ins and outs of everything.

He had traversed into a nightmarish place, specifically, the Imperium of the Warhammer universe.

By any means necessary, he would ensure the survival of their race; survival equaled victory.

Humanity had struggled in space for forty thousand years, experiencing the Golden Age, the Dark Age of Technology, the Age of Strife, the Great Crusade, and the Horus Heresy at the end of the Great Crusade, leading to the ten-thousand-year-long Age of the Imperium.

And now was the most dangerous moment for the Imperium.

The main enemy of the Imperium was the Warmaster of Chaos, someone who was  supported by the 4 Chaos Gods – Abaddon.

He was responsible for leading the forces of Chaos to continuously invade the real universe, paving the way for the ultimate destruction of the four Chaos Gods.

The four Chaos Gods were truly terrifying, conceptual beings that couldn’t be defeated.

In the ten-thousand-year existence of the Imperium, Abaddon had launched twelve expeditions, clearing out most of the Blackstone Seals that restricted the entry of the Chaos Gods into the real universe.

With his thirteen attacks, the most critical seal node, the Cardia Fortress, was completely destroyed.

The out-of-control Eye of Terror had spewed Chaos into the real world, the minions of the Chaos Gods were flooding in, sweeping through various planets.

The immense scars of curses split the Imperium in two, and the traces of Daemons and traitors appeared on countless planets.

The Imperium was now like a giant bleeding out; if things went bad, humanity would soon be in dire straits.

But for Guilliman, who had arrived at this point in time, the enemies he had to face were truly terrifying; it was like walking a path of death! Thinking about this, Guilliman also felt a bit annoyed.

It’s not that he wasn’t capable, but the enemies were just too powerful; he couldn’t hold up against them.

Dealing with those Traitor Primarchs was already causing him a headache; it was difficult to manage both ends.

What’s worse, those damn Chaos Gods were also lurking in the shadows.

One wrong move, and it would be all over.

The sound of the chainsaw revving brought Guilliman back to his senses, looking at the Chaos Space Marines and Daemons in front of him.

Better deal with the enemies in front first, and then figure out what to do next.

Guilliman casually drew the holy sword by his side, and the sword’s blade was instantly engulfed in searing flames.

This was the Emperor’s personal sword, brought over by the archmagos dominus, Cawl, with his resurrected body.

With Guilliman gripping the hilt, the Emperor’s Holy Sword also awakened, and golden flames spread, illuminating the golden battlefield.

The fusion of their souls made Guilliman feel that controlling this semi-divine body had become smoother, filled with boundless strength.

As he lifted the sword, combat techniques automatically surfaced in his mind, giving him an instinctual feeling of being able to wield this powerful body at will.

Guilliman’s revival left both sides of the battle in a strange silence.

The loyalists of the Imperium, the last defenders of humanity, all gazed at him with ecstatic eyes.

Guilliman’s return was like a faint ray of hope rising from the boundless darkness.

In the midst of the dark despair, a faint glimmer of redemption emerged.

The entire hall fell into silence.

Compared to the booming, earth-shaking battle outside, this place felt extremely eerie.

The inherent overwhelming aura of the Primarch made both Daemons and fallen warriors feel fear, maintaining an unusual quietness.

Even though he had slumbered for ten thousand years, the identity of their opponent still filled them with immense dread.

It wasn’t until a scream shattered the silence.

A sadistic Khornate Berzerker covered in bone spurs, wielding a blood-red battle axe, stepped forward.

Amidst the astonished gaze of his comrades, this fallen warrior who served the Blood God leaped into the air and charged straight towards the Primarch, attempting to collect its soul for his master.

Guilliman made a move.

Only the death cultists present, including the swift-footed spirit tribe warrior, could clearly see this thunderous strike.

The flaming sword drew a phantom trail in midair.

The Khornate Berzerker was cleaved in half at the waist, the two halves, under the influence of tremendous force, flew to the distant ground, producing a thunderous crash.

The sound of the Chaos Space Marine’s body hitting the ground shattered the silence’s enchantment.

Death could not make these minions of the chaotic gods feel fear.

Accompanied by earth-shattering roars filled with hatred.

Countless Daemons and Chaos Space Marines charged recklessly towards Guilliman.

They aimed to completely extinguish this awakened Primarch.

The surviving Ultramarines, the Black Templars, and Space Marines from other Chapters all roared as they charged forward once again, engaging in bloody combat.

Chainswords and powered weapons sliced through armor and flesh. The hatred between the two sides was so intense that only when one side was completely defeated would the war come to an end.

“For humanity! for the Emperor! for my father!” roared Calgar as his powered gauntlet forcefully plunged into a traitor’s throat, grinding through the enemy’s armor and throat, allowing the foul-smelling blood to spatter onto him.

With Guilliman’s revival, they once again gained the strength to confront these enemies.

Celestine, with only one hand remaining, swung her sword and continued to silently pray.

Her fighting spirit surged due to Guilliman’s return, fearless and undaunted.

The fire of faith ignited once more within her.

Transforming her into the Emperor’s envoy, reaping those fallen Space Marines.

The High Marshal of the Black Templar Chapter and his surviving comrades also launched an assault. Their battle cries resonated from their vox-casters, and wherever the Sword of the Sanctum struck, bodies fell in its wake.

With Guilliman joining the battlefield, the loyalists quickly gained the upper hand.

The power of the Primarch was unmatched, and anyone attempting to obstruct him would face his terrifying wrath.

The first to perish were the Psyker followers of the Chaos Gods, their power having shaken the foundation of the sanctuary.

Allowing the Daemons the opportunity to breach the sanctuary.

Their once proud psychic powers appeared fragile as thin paper before Guilliman.

Guilliman could easily snap their necks, and with armor-piercing rounds like a rainstorm, he turned their bodies into fragments.

Next came the fallen Space Marines, who had once been humanity’s protectors, now turned enemies.

Guilliman showed them no mercy, like a god of war, he faced their intense barrage of firepower, wielding the blazing Sword of the Emperor as he charged forward.

The Primarch’s reaction speed and strength far exceeded that of ordinary people’s imagination.

The heightened awareness of the fallen Space Marines was insignificant before Guilliman.

He was like a fierce tiger amidst a flock of sheep, launching a frenzy of carnage.

The first strike, a Chaos Space Marine was cleaved in half, his Terminator armor as fragile as paper, unable to withstand Guilliman for even a second.

The second strike, a Daemon was bisected, cursed blood spurted forth, and the Sword of the Emperor incinerated his soul, preventing it from returning to the warp.

Followed by the third strike, the fourth strike, their speed was so fast that only afterimages were visible.

Guilliman’s speed was lightning-like, his entry into the battlefield shifted the tide in favor of the Loyalists.

All the warriors roared, excitement on their faces.

They gathered around Guilliman, forming an unstoppable spearhead, sweeping away all enemies.

Once-powerful Daemons and Chaos Space Marines were harvested like wild grass before Guilliman.

Guilliman’s fury erupted like a long-suppressed volcano, his eyes burning with anger. The Sword of the Emperor in his hand swung, slaying every enemy in sight.

After slaying the last Daemon within the sanctuary, Guilliman finally ceased his assault, calming his rage.

Just as Guilliman was about to organize everything, to check if he could reestablish communication with the various units of Macragge and reclaim the planets, suddenly, a clear voice rang in his mind.

“Target detected as qualified, Sovereign Template activated, database and auxiliary spirit enabled, please review promptly.”

“Host may ask questions, the auxiliary spirit will answer to the best of its ability.”

This voice left Guilliman momentarily stunned.

“What abilities do you have?” Guilliman asked without any delay.
