Chapter 75: Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [75]
Boom! Boom!
Explosions echoed continuously in the sky as the small, single-pilot capture ships of the Dark Eldar stood no chance against the massive wing attacks of Bemstar.
It could be said that even a slight graze would cause injury, and a direct hit meant instant death.
These Dark Eldars refrained from using overly powerful long-range lethal weapons to avoid harming Bemstar. Instead, they relied on standard weaponry typically used against giant beasts. However, they underestimated the power of a cosmic monster—especially one that had been enhanced twice by Rhodes.
Even without enhancements, the Dark Eldar's weapons couldn't even break through Bemstar's natural defenses.
This was a creature capable of massacring Tyran ground swarms, with an overall combat strength far surpassing Red King.
"Keep your distance! Do not engage in close combat! Wear it down with long-range attacks!" The Dark Eldar's pirate leader commanded the assault.
Upon hearing their leader's orders, the pilots of the small ships immediately pulled away from Bemstar, initiating ranged attacks with laser cannons in an attempt to weaken the giant bird's stamina. The sheer strength of this monster had exceeded their expectations.
"Waaah! Screeech!"
Bemstar's eyes gleamed with a mix of ferocity and mockery. The golden glow of its forehead horn intensified before unleashing a lightning strike, instantly destroying over a dozen Dark Eldar pirate ships that had dared to approach.
Do you think flying farther away will make you safe?
Only a small fraction of monster species lack long-range attack capabilities. Most have some form of ranged combat skills.
Yellow lightning continuously crackled through the air, shredding the Dark Eldar's small ships. The pilots barely had time to scream before being blasted into pieces.
"This massive creature has ranged attacks too?! What kind of attack is this? Plasma weaponry? Or some kind of energy beam?" The Dark Eldar pirate leader gritted his teeth in frustration.
"We don't know enough about this enemy. We underestimated this giant beast—it's not a naturally occurring creature," another pirate commented.
The pirate leader nodded, and two of his subordinates quickly pulled out a specialized device, aiming it at Bemstar to scan its biological data.
[Height: 48 meters]
[Weight: ??? Tons (Bemstar has been enhanced twice—once in height and once in weight).]
"Impossible! This thing weighs over 64,000 tons?!
No way! Its body density is greater than the strongest known metals!" One of the pirates stared at the scanning results in disbelief.
The numbers were simply absurd! Compared to this monster, even the largest Titan units were lightweight—none of them even reached a tenth of its weight.
"Such terrifying combat power! Capturing it alive will be extremely difficult!" another pirate remarked.
"We have to capture it alive! Only then can we sell it for the highest price.
Even if you combined all of this planet's wild monkeys and bugs, they wouldn't be worth as much as this giant beast!" The pirate leader's eyes gleamed with excitement.
A creature of this magnitude was a prize worthy of bringing back to Commorragh. The city's ruler, Vect, along with the leaders of the conspiracy factions and the Blood Collectors, would pay unimaginable sums for a Titan like this.
This massive beast was likely not a naturally evolved creature—it could be a Bio-Titan!
Rumors had it that the Arena Queen, Lelith, had recently become interested in a rising succubus fighter from the Ark World. However, compared to that little succubus, this giant bird would undoubtedly catch Queen Lelith's eye even more.
The Arena Queen had famously declared that whoever brought her the most powerful opponent would receive a special reward.
As a legendary gladiatorial queen with a fanbase spanning millennia, Lelith was revered among many—including this Dark Eldar pirate leader, who happened to be one of her most devoted fans.
To earn a reward from the Arena Queen, he was willing to risk everything—even his entire pirate crew.
Meanwhile...
The Dark Eldar began summoning more raider ships to deal with Bemstar.
Above the planet, a mysterious portal opened, continuously releasing Dark Eldar raiders into the battle.
Unfortunately for them, they were facing a cosmic monster capable of wiping out an entire planetary civilization.
Bemstar expanded the absorption plate on its abdomen, instantly sucking in countless Dark Eldar units before devouring them whole.
You little black creatures… are you here to deliver yourselves as food?
These guys tasted pretty good! But even if they didn't, it wouldn't matter—Bemstar was never a picky eater.
Seriously, of all the creatures to provoke, they just had to pick a cosmic monster.
...
Rhodes was pleasantly surprised. Compared to the Tyranid Swarm, these Dark Eldars provided far more system gold when killed.
In just a short battle, Bemstar had earned him thousands of gold coins!
Bemstar had only killed a few hundred Dark Eldar so far!
For comparison, if he were farming Tyranids, he would have needed to kill tens of thousands to earn the same amount!
Why was there such a huge difference?
Could it be that the true value of the Dark Eldar lies in their souls?
Oh.
So all this time, Rhodes had been farming low-value creatures—the Tyranids didn't even have souls.
The Dark Eldar were prime-quality recharge materials!
If this is the case, maybe I should start hunting Chaos Demons or Orks next.
"Lord Rhodes, that should be the entrance to the webway," Titus pointed at the rift in the sky.
The Dark Eldar pirates had always been elusive, appearing and disappearing without a trace.
Their secret? A network of ancient pathways spanning the entire galaxy.
According to the Dark Eldars, these webways were created by their ancestral gods.
However, some human historians believed otherwise.
The true creators of the Webway were not the gods of the Dark Eldars but rather an even more ancient and mysterious race.
Rhodes originally considered having Bemstar fake a defeat and allow himself to be captured.
But now that he knew how much these Dark Eldar were worth, how could he not slaughter more of them?
Bemstar needed to show off its combat strength!
Otherwise, these Dark Eldars might think it was just another weakling monster.
"I understand. No rush! Is anyone hungry?" Rhodes asked.
"If you're hungry, go grab something from the dining hall. I think our big guy will be playing with these guys for a while."
Eat? At a time like this?
The members of Deathwatch collectively shook their heads.
This Chosen of the Emperor had a rather interesting sense of humor.
Instead, they stood behind Rhodes, watching as Bemstar rampaged through the Dark Eldar pirates.
With Rhodes' command, Bemstar unleashed its full power, demonstrating its terrifying speed in the sky.
Some of the Dark Eldar raider ships didn't even have time to react before being rammed and destroyed.
With supersonic speed and immense mass, smashing through a hundred-meter-long raider ship was effortless.
Boom! Boom!
Several newly arrived raider ships were instantly obliterated.
The Dark Eldar pirates were being massacred.
Suddenly, the sky portal expanded significantly, and an enormous fleet emerged.
Atop the flagship stood a Dark Eldar woman with blood-red hair, clad in black, revealing armor, wielding dual daggers.
Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she stared at Bemstar.
