Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde

Chapter 42: Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [42]

The upgrade of the King Joe was meant to be awe-inspiring, and now was the perfect time!

A colossal war robot standing 120 meters tall and glowing with a golden radiance caused an unimaginable sense of shock. Previously, this giant had been only 80 meters tall, but now it had suddenly grown to 120 meters.

"By the Emperor, this! This!"

"This is the miracle of the Great Emperor! A miracle has descended once again!"

Canoness Anna, however, remained calm. She had already witnessed too many miracles of the Emperor in the past few days.

The man named Rhodes referred to himself as half a gene-primarch, but now, another title had to be added—that of the Emperor's chosen one, akin to the Living Saints.

No! He was even stronger than a Living Saint!

"Lord Rhodes! Please forgive me for refusing your request! While the Deathwatch warriors need support, it is not worth risking your safety," said Captain Dres, shaking his head.

Warp travel was an extremely dangerous endeavor. Even though Lord Rhodes had the Emperor's blessing, piloting such a small ship into the Warp was nothing short of suicidal.

Typically, entering the Warp required multiple ships to form a fleet. Navigating through the Warp was fraught with peril.

"I have already said, under the blessing of the Emperor, the Chaos Daemons of the Warp cannot stop me," Rhodes declared.

In truth, King Joe could only fly within planetary atmospheres or near space. The vessels truly capable of interstellar travel were Bemstar and the Pedan Starships.

These two massive ships could travel through space at superluminal speeds, serving as Rhodes' trump card for survival in the perilous cosmos.

Thus, Rhodes did not need to take the risk of Warp travel. However, revealing this fact would be too shocking, so he chose not to disclose it.

For these Space Marines, Battle Sisters, and Imperial Guardsmen, the less they knew, the safer they were. In this grim universe, secrecy was a necessity. This planet was currently in a state of lost contact, which was a good thing.

In the Imperium, some civilians had been executed by the Grey Knights simply for witnessing Chaos Daemons. Sometimes, these executions led to the extermination of an entire world.

To stop the Tyranid Swarm, the High Lords of Holy Terra had even ordered the extermination of thousands of planets, creating a void zone to halt the Tyranid advance.

"Lord Rhodes! If you insist on going to support the Deathwatch, then please allow me to accompany you," Captain Dres spoke up.

"And us as well! Lord Rhodes, please allow all the Battle Sisters to accompany you, so that the daughters of the Emperor may bask in His divine light," Canoness Anna said, leading all the Battle Sisters in kneeling before Rhodes.

"No! I can guarantee my safety in the Warp, but not yours. Besides, you all have a more important mission.

You must rebuild this planet, which has been ravaged by the Tyranids, and wait for reinforcements from the Imperial Navy or your Chapter's main fleet," Rhodes stated.

By staying here, these Battle Sisters, Space Marines, and Imperial Guardsmen could at least enjoy a moment of peace.

Hiding out here for a few years would be safe. However, Rhodes needed to take on a new identity for this mission.

Bringing along the Battle Sisters and Space Marines while claiming to be the Emperor's Chosen or a half-gene-primarch would draw the attention of the High Lords of Terra. At this moment, Rhodes did not want to expose himself.

He had to wait until a year later, after the 13th Black Crusade ended and Roboute Guilliman awakened, before revealing anything. The current leadership of the Imperium was utterly corrupt.

"But Lord Rhodes!"

"Enough! My decision is final!

The Tyranids outside have already been exterminated. I will now set out to eliminate the two remaining Titan-level creatures and ensure the true safety of this planet," Rhodes declared as he once again unleashed his psychic power, his entire body radiating golden light.

After convincing the others, Rhodes entered the cockpit of King Joe.

At this moment, the Tyranids on the planet had already been wiped out by Bemstar, and Rhodes' system currency had increased significantly. (The upgrade currency was accumulated when the protagonist previously destroyed a mothership.)

Rhodes first approached Bemstar and engaged in a spectacular aerial battle with the giant bird. Then, he led Bemstar to the location of Red King and fired a shot to wake up the sleeping beast.

Upon awakening, Red King didn't even need Rhodes' command. The moment it saw Bemstar, it excitedly charged forward.

This big bird looked like a worthy opponent!

"Roar! Roar!"

"Chi! Gugu!"

The two massive creatures clashed fiercely—punches and wing strikes flying as they fought with enthusiasm.

In terms of raw melee power, Red King, when unleashing its monstrous strength, could indeed contend with Bemstar—at least in its un-upgraded state.

Controlling these two monsters in a fierce battle gave Rhodes a thrill—finally, a proper kaiju brawl!

He had to admit, Red King's brute strength was formidable. Even though Bemstar was twice its weight, it still couldn't easily overpower it!

Seeing that melee combat was inconclusive, Bemstar immediately took to the skies, unleashing a barrage of yellow lightning from its sharp golden horn.

Red King had no effective counter to this ranged attack. It could only jump around wildly, trying to hurl rocks at the bird.

However, when a yellow lightning bolt struck its arm, the rock slipped from its grasp and landed on its foot.

The foolish Red King clutched its foot in pain, hopping around before collapsing to the ground, struggling to get back up.

Seizing the opportunity, Bemstar descended and delivered a relentless beating to its downed opponent, slapping Red King unconscious. Then, it opened its abdominal absorption organ.

Feigning absorption, Rhodes manipulated his system to store the foolish Red King in his dimensional space.

Afterward, Rhodes piloted the King Joe, luring Bemstar into the sky for a one-sided bombardment, putting on a spectacular display of destruction.

A massive explosion lit up the sky like a grand firework, making it appear as though Bemstar had been obliterated.

The Space Marines and Imperial Guards watching from the ground erupted into cheers. The two terrifying Titan-level creatures had both been destroyed by the Emperor's divine machine!

"Glory to the Emperor!"

"The invincible divine machine!"

Meanwhile, the two kaiju were resting quietly inside Rhodes' system space. Satisfied, Rhodes nodded approvingly.

He then landed King Joe. Up next, he needed to gather some supplies—then it would be time to leave!
