Chapter 9: Staying Over
Night gradually fell, and lights lit up in countless homes outside the window.
It was just the beginning of autumn in Siming, still carrying the lingering heat of summer. At night, there was a bit of sultriness in the air.
Xi Tian awoke from his daily meditation, his eyes clear and calm.
In front of him, Ellis was still sitting on the sofa, absentmindedly tapping on the terminal screen, looking at the messages displayed.
The terminal screen could project 3D images, but most people used it as a 2D panel. In 2D mode, the screen’s illuminated surface faced only the user and had to be tilted at a certain angle to be clearly seen.
The apartment lights were off, and the glow from the screen cast shadows on Ellis’s face, making him look somewhat eerie.
“You’re awake?” Ellis said excitedly, hearing Xi Tian’s movements.
“Weren’t you leaving?” Xi Tian stretched his stiff body from sitting too long and slowly stood up, putting away the mat on the floor.
“I left something behind,” Ellis pointed to the flying machine keys beside him. “I came back and saw you sitting here, so I didn’t dare to disturb you.”
Xi Tian turned on the light switch and glanced at the time on the terminal. He had woken up at his usual time. “So, you’ve been waiting for two and a half hours?”
Ellis rubbed his nose, embarrassed. “It seems so…”
Xi Tian laughed, “You could have just taken the keys and left. Why wait for me?”
Ellis replied, “I wanted to tell you in person.”
Xi Tian responded, “You could have just left a note.”
Ellis, embarrassed, said, “I didn’t think that far.”
Xi Tian sighed, “Alright, now I know. Let me walk you out.”
Ellis exclaimed, “Wait?!”
He hadn’t planned on leaving tonight; otherwise, why would he intentionally leave the keys behind and wander nearby for half an hour? He couldn’t explain his feelings, but he simply felt that the time spent with the male was too short. He wanted to stay with Xi Tian a little longer.
Now, Ellis was desperately trying to find a reason for the male to ask him to stay. But what could he say?
Xi Tian intended to see Ellis off but couldn’t help laughing when he saw Ellis’s conflicted expression. He walked over to the sofa and ruffled Ellis’s short hair, which felt surprisingly prickly despite looking soft.
“You seem anxious,” Xi Tian said as he sat down.
“Really?” Ellis’s straight hair became a bit messy after Xi Tian’s ruffling, giving him a somewhat silly appearance.
“Yeah, it’s written all over your face.” Xi Tian laughed and pinched the soft flesh of Ellis’s cheek.
“Hey!” Ellis blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed. Instinctively, he swatted Xi Tian’s hand away. When he realized what he had done and saw Xi Tian’s expressionless face, his first thought was, “Oh no.”
In a hurry to make amends, Ellis grabbed Xi Tian’s hand and pressed it back to his face.
Realizing what he had done, Ellis saw Xi Tian’s incredulous look and wished he could find a hole to crawl into out of shame.
Xi Tian had always known that the female he chose was different from the traditional ones.
For instance, Ellis didn’t have a strong sense of male dominance. He didn’t tiptoe around Xi Tian or try to curry favor. He wasn’t good at reading people’s expressions or being eloquent. His interactions with Xi Tian were spontaneous, and he often asked direct questions. His emotions were clearly displayed on his face.
If Xi Tian were a traditional male, he might not have liked such a female. Such a female would be neither obedient at home nor presentable in public. He would seem useless.
But Xi Tian didn’t grow up in a traditional male-female household. During his upbringing at the welfare agency, he spent a lot of time with older females and sub-females.
Gradually, he became immersed in the sea of knowledge. Driven by curiosity, he anonymously lurked on female forums, reading the latest revised versions of “The Rules for Serving a Male” and “Secrets to Make Your Male Love You More,” labeled as “Moderator Recommended” and “Super Popular.” As a male who grew up among females, he found the content mostly incomprehensible and baffling.
A male who didn’t act like a male, and a female who didn’t act like a female, somehow ended up together.
Xi Tian looked at the silly guy in front of him and laughed. He patted Ellis’s face, then grabbed his hand and pushed him down onto the sofa.
“Tell me, what’s going through your mind right now?”
Ellis mumbled, unable to articulate his thoughts with the male so close. His mind was in a jumble.
A kiss fell gently.
“You’re interesting, more interesting than many people I’ve met,” Xi Tian whispered in his ear, his hand stroking Ellis’s body through his thin clothes.
“But, but…” Ellis stammered, trying to say something. He suddenly remembered a conversation with someone about how males dislike impure females before marriage. “We’re engaged, we shouldn’t…”
Wouldn’t this make him seem too easy?
Would indulging in pleasure make the male in front of him stop liking him?
Ellis’s body gradually stiffened.
“We’re engaged. There won’t be anyone else before we get married. Besides, the house was bought with your money. There’s no turning back for you.”
Xi Tian whispered softly, his hand slipping under Ellis’s shirt, pressing against his warm, firm skin.
“I’m not regretting it,” Ellis hastily defended himself.
So, are you afraid I’ll regret it?
Xi Tian leaned down to kiss him, using actions to soothe his anxiety.
They tangled on the sofa, holding each other tightly to avoid falling off.
Then they moved to the bedroom, rolling on the bed. Like the N and S poles of a magnet, they seemed destined to be one.
Entwined, embracing, panting.
The residual heat in the air gradually cooled down, a refreshing breeze sneaking into the room through the cracks. The air inside was filled with the steam of sweat, low conversations, a bit of laughter, but mostly the primal sounds of activities that had sustained the Zerg race to this day.
Outside, a sweet song drifted faintly, as if someone was singing.
But the two couldn’t hear it, their ears filled only with each other’s voices.
They couldn’t see anything else, their eyes reflecting only each other’s images.
What color is the world? What does the end of the world look like?
Ellis would say that the world has no color; its varying shades are too difficult to capture, full of rich emotions.
At the end of the world, there is an extremely bright light, too bright to look at directly, yet fleeting. Only the lingering warmth from the light gently ripples across the body.
Ellis tried to calm his wildly heaving chest.
Just now, they had been completely open with each other, experiencing the most intimate connection.
He felt an indescribable sensation, a thrill greater than extreme training, reaching unimaginable peaks several times.
Now, his fingertips felt like flowers blooming.
Feeling lazy and not wanting to move.
He just wanted to sleep, to sleep until the end of time.
Xi Tian draped himself in clothes and leaned against the bedhead.
He finally understood why every adult has an insatiable desire for such things.
Now, he was somewhat addicted to this activity.
The blanket trembled slightly as the female beside him shivered, seemingly a bit cold.
Xi Tian pulled the blanket up to cover the female, which had almost been pushed to the floor by their actions earlier.
Ellis turned from lying on his back to his side, facing Xi Tian.
He mumbled something, and Xi Tian, not hearing clearly, leaned in closer.
“Master.”
Ellis murmured.
Xi Tian smiled and replied with a hum, tossed his clothes aside, and slipped under the blanket, hugging the female.
The female snuggled into his embrace.
This night, like usual, was peaceful and beautiful.

Don’t ask me why it happened so quickly.
