Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Consequences of Letting the Demon Mother Escape
One thing was clear—this little girl, Lingling, was impressively talented. Her tech skills were beyond extraordinary.
What would take Mo Fan ten years to master, Lingling could figure out in just a few days.
And let's not forget, she was still just a child!
After her explanation, Lingling quickly opened her laptop, revealing a map filled with red dots, all relatively close to their current location.
"What the heck?!" Mo Fan exclaimed, pretending to be shocked.
Lingling, on the other hand, was genuinely stunned. The biggest feature of parasitic demons was their ability to hide and infect others.
After making a quick phone call to confirm the situation, Lingling realized they were in big trouble. Mo Fan might not think it was a big deal, but it certainly was a massive problem.
"I need to notify the Hunter's Union immediately... Wait, why are all these red dots converging in one place?" Lingling said, now fully realizing the gravity of the situation.
"Even though it's break time, there's a rehearsal for a pop idol's concert tonight at the sports stadium. A lot of people went to watch." Mo Fan explained.
"They haven't shed their skins yet. If we wait for the Hunter's Union to get here, the stadium will turn into a feeding ground for these monsters. Soon, the place will be crawling with them, and things will spiral out of control!" Lingling warned.
"I'll head inside and deal with it. You stay outside and guide me." Mo Fan said.
"Are you sure?" Lingling hesitated.
"Last time, that demon mother only escaped by sheer luck. It won't get lucky again." Mo Fan reassured her.
Lingling still wasn't entirely convinced, but Mo Fan was already walking toward the stadium.
"Mo Fan! There's one at the entrance!" Lingling suddenly called out in a panicked voice.
The moment Mo Fan spotted the first monster, he blasted it with a fire spell, obliterating it instantly. After all, he was equipped with top-tier spiritual seed.
As the female demon died, her skin exploded, peeling off to reveal rough, sticky, green-yellow scales underneath. Fluids oozed from the cracks, and a pale arm began to emerge.
The monster was shedding it's skin!
"I... water... water..." A girl with her hair covered in sticky fluid slowly emerged from the demon's remains. Her face was deathly pale, her lips cracked. She looked at Mo Fan with wide, terrified eyes, desperate for relief from the pain of being possessed.
Mo Fan wrapped his coat around her and carried her to a nearby rest area. He bought a bottle of water from a vending machine and handed it to the girl, who gulped it down desperately.
After seeing her regain a bit of strength, Mo Fan said, "Stay here. I'll call someone to take you to the hospital."
"Please... don't leave..." The girl, still trembling with fear, looked at Mo Fan with tearful eyes, clinging to him instinctively after being saved.
"Don't worry, someone will come for you soon." Mo Fan assured her.
He didn't linger, knowing he had to move quickly. As he charged deeper into the stadium, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. He could have just ended her suffering right away. But it was too late to regret his decision now.
The priority was clear—deal with the demon mother!
As Mo Fan fought his way through the monsters, he ran into Bai Tingting, a girl with extraordinary healing abilities. With her help, rescuing others became much easier.
Meanwhile, in a secluded room on the second floor of the stadium, a young man with dyed yellow hair pushed a girl against the wall.
The girl's face flushed, her heart racing as she let out soft gasps.
"If someone catches us, we'll be in big trouble." she whispered.
"Don't worry, everyone's watching the performance. We'll be quick." the yellow-haired guy replied, continuing to kiss her neck.
As the girl, lost in the moment, began to unbutton her top, something scaly and yellow-green crawled through the ventilation shaft.
"There's... a monster!!" she screamed, her face turning pale.
The yellow-haired guy smirked and said, "Yeah, I'm the monster that's going to devour you."
Just as the creature is about to strike, Zhao Manyan, always the show-off, casts a light spell, driving the monster back.
Mo Fan arrived just in time to pull Zhao Manyan away from the scene, not even bothering with small talk.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Zhao Manyan shouted.
"Helping you make a name for yourself." Mo Fan replied, quickly explaining the situation with the demon mother.
"How did you know I needed this?" Zhao was taken aback.
"Less talk. Do you want in or not? If you do, I want a spiritual lightning essence in return. If not, I'll find someone else." Mo Fan said bluntly.
"I'm in!" Zhao agreed.
"Good. Meet me at the center of the stadium."
"Got it."
Before Zhao could process what had just happened, Mo Fan disappeared into the shadows, leaving him bewildered.
Outside the stadium, a man stood atop a massive azure beast with towering horns. His sharp eyes scanned the vast stadium below.
"My lord, we've confirmed that these parasitic demons are called Scale-Skin Demon Soldiers. Normally, they can't spread through blood, but it seems these ones have mutated into something we don't fully understand." a man dressed in black leather reported from below.
"It's one thing for humans to experiment with demon magic, but to let such monsters loose in the Pearl Academy is unacceptable! This is the Azure Campus, full of new students and low-level mages. They stand no chance against demons like these!" the man on the beast roared with anger.
The hunters understood the dangers of a city overrun by demons, but the fact that such creatures had infiltrated a sacred place like the Pearl academy was unthinkable. Why hadn't the academy's barrier stopped the invasion? Why had it taken so long for anyone to notice the threat? And why was it the Clear Sky Hunter Agency that uncovered the problem?
Had this gone on for another week or two, the entire campus could have turned into a demon nest.
As the furious hunter king unleashed his wrath, the faces of everyone around him turned grim.
But there was an even bigger problem. They couldn't act recklessly now. If the Scale-Skin Demon Mother sensed their presence, she could force the entire student body to commit mass suicide.
