Versatile Mage : Reborn As Mo Fan

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Taming the Target Chiyou

It was clear that Chiyou Mochizuki was genuinely provoked, even resorting to cursing in her native language.

"Chiyou!"

The bearded elder, though slightly displeased, understood that the other party was a guest. So he merely scolded Chiyou Mochizuki.

Elder Mochizuki's intervention had further irritated Chiyou, and her emotions were visibly fluctuating. In fact, even if Chiyou hadn't behaved like this, Mo Fan came here with the intention of being arrogant. There was no need for politeness in this setting.

"If I'm not mistaken, you must be from the National Team of Great Xia, correct?" Mochizuki didn't bother arguing further with Mo Fan and instead asked about their identity directly.

Ai Jiangtu, who was also somewhat annoyed with Chiyou's attitude, had to admire Mo Fan for his sheer audacity. He was shameless! If it were him, he wouldn't dare to say the things Mo Fan had said.

Hearing the elder's question, Ai Jiangtu, as the team leader, stepped forward, took out their identification badge, and handed it to him.

However, the elder didn't even glance at the badge, which puzzled Ai Jiangtu. "Aren't you going to check? Aren't you afraid we might be impostors?"

"To impersonate someone, one must have the ability to do so. I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to pretend to be members of the National Team just to challenge the stronghold of our Twin Guard Pavilion," the elder replied nonchalantly with a smile.

His confident tone made it easy to see why Chiyou's attitude was so obnoxious.

"You seem very confident in your pavilion's champions?" Ai Jiangtu said coldly, clearly irritated by their behavior. Any previous sympathy for Mo Fan's rudeness had completely vanished from his mind.

Just as Ai Jiangtu finished speaking, a man with dyed blonde hair emerged from inside the gate.

He had clearly overheard the conversation and, with a smug smile, said to Ai Jiangtu, "Looking across all of Sakura Island, there are only a few who can match our Twin Guard Pavilion. How could we not be confident? Whether you are genuine or not, just fight us, and we'll see how many rounds you last."

"How many rounds we last?" Guan Yu scoffed, clearly displeased. "Friend, are you implying that our National Team can't even match up against your pavilion guards?"

"If that's how you interpret it, sure," the blonde-haired man from Sakura Island replied.

"Fine. When I knock you and your companions down and you're crawling on the ground unable to get up, I hope you'll remember what you just said. Also, by the way, I really hate your hairstyle," Guan Yu said arrogantly.

As soon as Guan Yu finished speaking, Zhao Manyan's face looked like he had just eaten something awful!

He was already upset because his hairstyle had accidentally matched one of the Sakura Islanders', and now Guan Yu had rubbed it in further.

"Let our guests rest first. I will arrange the competition soon. In the meantime, show them around the Twin Guard Pavilion," said Elder Mochizuki, cutting off the argument and inviting them inside without further checking their credentials.

"Oh, and we have a few female teammates arriving a bit later. You should wait for them and bring them in when they get here," Mo Fan casually instructed Chiyou Mochizuki as they entered.

Chiyou, already deeply displeased with Mo Fan's roguish attitude, felt her magical aura surge in response. Angrily, she shouted, "Do you think I'm some sort of gatekeeper maid?"

"If that's how you understand it, then yes," Mo Fan replied calmly, echoing the blonde-haired man's words from earlier.

Hearing this, the blonde-haired man gave Mo Fan a hostile glare, but to Mo Fan, this small fry wasn't worth caring about.

Chiyou's magical aura flared up, but Mo Fan remained utterly indifferent. He knew that from the moment Elder Mochizuki had confirmed their identities, there was no way Chiyou could touch him. Elder Mochizuki wouldn't allow it. In the end, Chiyou could only fume helplessly.

After all, if a fight broke out, it would be the Mochizuki family that would bear the consequences.

This was an international event, organized by a coalition of nations. Because of that, magical prodigies from various powerful countries had the opportunity to train across the world. Although these training exercises were said to be dangerous, the routes were carefully mapped out by high-level officials. As long as participants didn't act recklessly and followed the guides' instructions, fatalities were rare.

The group entered the Western Guard Pavilion, where the castle's foundations began to rise. Between the base of the castle and its walls, a moat-like lake spread out, surrounding the pavilion on three sides, except for the side facing the cliff.

The water was crystal clear. You could see leaves floating on the surface, rocks on the lakebed, and even the shadows of leaves reflected on the stones.

The water was likely deep, but its clarity made it look like a shallow stream.

Wooden walkways crisscrossed the surface of the water, winding around and leading to small pavilions. It would take a while to reach the lower pavilion of the Western Guard.

The pavilion was divided into three levels: lower, middle, and upper. The lower pavilion was a maze of interconnected halls and corridors, making it difficult for newcomers to navigate without a guide.

The middle pavilion had a wide range of facilities, while the upper pavilion housed the Guardian Mages, which was off-limits to them.

Due to the earlier tension, their guides didn't show them around extensively. After a brief tour, they were sent to their quarters.

Watching Chiyou Mochizuki walk away, Mo Fan couldn't help but smile slightly. Her figure and allure were in no way inferior to their instructor, Tang Yue. Everyone had their dark side, but sometimes that darkness just needed an outlet. And Chiyou Mochizuki was the perfect target for Mo Fan's taming.

After all, they had come this far—why act like some "noble gentleman"? That would just be lying to himself.

"I'll take care of this one during the sparring tonight," Mo Fan said.

"???"

The others froze. Guan Yu, annoyed, asked, "Why do you get to claim her?"

"Did I ask for your opinion? Or do you want me to 'warm you up' first?" Mo Fan retorted.

Guan Yu knew better than to challenge Mo Fan. He understood how powerful Mo Fan was. Even though he believed he could surpass him one day, for now, he wasn't Mo Fan's match.
