Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Let's Go Home
Lin Jiufeng sensed the white fox's surprise and chuckled softly. "Why aren't you cultivating?"
Hearing this, the white fox immediately began cultivating, staying right beside Lin Jiufeng without leaving. Her trust in him had grown significantly, far from the cautious attitude she had at the beginning.
The rain continued to fall.
The spiritual energy in the air kept increasing.
Inside the Golden Summit Hall, Bai Yunfei, who was recovering from his injuries, suddenly awoke. Feeling the surge of spiritual energy in the air, he was astonished. "This... this much spiritual energy? What's happening?"
At that moment, he recalled what his senior brother had told him yesterday.
"Could it be that Senior Brother caused this?" Bai Yunfei could no longer sit still. He immediately got up and rushed toward the Sutra Repository.
Upon arrival, he saw Lin Jiufeng standing at the entrance of the Sutra Repository, dressed in a black Daoist robe, absorbing the dense spiritual energy around him.
At Lin Jiufeng's feet lay a pure white fox, as if she had stepped out of the snow itself, breathtakingly beautiful. She was quietly absorbing the spiritual energy, nestled against Lin Jiufeng without moving.
"Senior Brother, what exactly is going on?" Bai Yunfei asked, his voice trembling with shock.
"You've seen it with your own eyes," Lin Jiufeng replied with a smile.
"These surging spiritual energies... they were drawn down by you?" Bai Yunfei swallowed hard in disbelief.
"These spiritual energies have always existed in the heavens. I merely guided them down, allowing them to descend upon the Yuhua Sect along with this rain," Lin Jiufeng explained calmly.
"This is... too much spiritual energy!" Bai Yunfei was stunned, filled with excitement, nearly ready to kneel in reverence.
"Yesterday, I told you that you would soon break through the Ninth Seal," Lin Jiufeng said with a smile.
Bai Yunfei was completely convinced. "From now on, Senior Brother's words are like gold to me. I will never doubt you again."
Lin Jiufeng playfully scolded, "Then stop wasting time here! Hurry up and absorb the spiritual energy. Once this rain stops, the spiritual energy will weaken."
Bai Yunfei nodded and immediately flew back to the Golden Summit Hall to absorb the spiritual energy without hesitation.
At that moment, his injuries rapidly healed, and his aura steadily rose.
Thunder roared!
The storm raged on!
Within the Yuhua Sect, everyone was cultivating.
The white fox absorbed the energy beside Lin Jiufeng, Bai Yunfei cultivated in the Golden Summit Hall, and the three younger disciples who had experienced this phenomenon before immediately began their own cultivation, seizing the opportunity to strengthen themselves.
Lin Jiufeng, just like before, projected his primordial spirit into the sky, absorbing the boundless spiritual energy while leaving the surrounding energy to the white fox.
If he were to compete with her for it, she wouldn't be able to absorb any at all.
At this moment, Lin Jiufeng's body surged with energy, his spiritual power fluctuating as he stabilized his newly attained Eighth Seal cultivation.
Moreover, he continued advancing.
When the rain stopped, the surge of spiritual energy also subsided.
Due to the influx of spiritual energy, the vegetation around the Yuhua Sect flourished wildly, and many creatures began to develop their own consciousness. They too absorbed the energy, though whether they could eventually take human form would depend on their fate.
As the rain ceased and the excess spiritual energy gradually dispersed, Bai Yunfei immediately returned to the Sutra Repository, where he found Lin Jiufeng.
His gaze fell on the white fox, his expression complex. "Senior Brother, did Zhou Sheng really have another daughter still alive?"
Lin Jiufeng nodded and began recounting the tragic story of the white fox's past.
After hearing everything, Bai Yunfei looked at the white fox with sympathy. He sighed, "This white fox has suffered so much—losing her parents, left all alone... Fortunately, she met you. Teaching her the Yuhua Ascension Sutra can at least be considered a small act of redemption on our sect's part for Zhou Sheng."
Lin Jiufeng nodded in agreement. He had always felt that the Yuhua Sect had failed Zhou Sheng in the past.
Years ago, when Zhou Sheng was forced to leave the sect to face pressure from the Supreme Dao alone, leading to the eventual death of both him and his wife, the Yuhua Sect had been unable to help him.
As the highest-ranking elders of the sect, Lin Jiufeng and Bai Yunfei still carried a sense of guilt about it. Now that Zhou Sheng's daughter had appeared, they naturally treated her as their own disciple.
At that moment, an explosion of energy erupted from within the white fox's body as she broke through to the next level.
Having absorbed an immense amount of spiritual energy, she successfully advanced from the Fifth Seal to the Sixth Seal.
She slowly opened her eyes, seeing Lin Jiufeng and Bai Yunfei smiling gently at her.
Instinctively, the white fox moved closer to Lin Jiufeng. She didn't recognize Bai Yunfei.
Lin Jiufeng introduced them. "This is Bai Yunfei, the Sect Master of the Yuhua Sect."
The white fox stared coldly at Bai Yunfei, showing no intention of warming up to him.
She trusted Lin Jiufeng, but that didn't mean she trusted others.
Fortunately, Bai Yunfei had a baby face and an inherently friendly demeanor. Smiling, he said to her, "I already know your story. You are Zhou Sheng's daughter, which means you are part of the Yuhua Sect. From now on, this is your home, and no one will ever bully you again."
Upon hearing this, the white fox's cold, distant gaze softened slightly.
Bai Yunfei could tell that she was wary of people, so he didn't push further. Instead, he turned to Lin Jiufeng. "Senior Brother, since she trusts you, you should guide her. Let's nurture her talent properly—this is the least we can do for Zhou Sheng."
Lin Jiufeng nodded. The white fox was cautious around others, but she was at least willing to stay close to him, so he would take responsibility for her training.
"Senior Brother, I'll check on those three young disciples," Bai Yunfei said before turning to leave.
Lin Jiufeng watched him go, then turned to the white fox. "We've known each other for some time now, yet I still don't know your name."
The white fox paced slowly, then looked up at him. "My mother once told me that my father named me Bai Ling."
"Then from now on, I'll call you Bai Ling," Lin Jiufeng said with a warm smile.
Bai Ling gazed at him and nodded gently.
"The Sutra Repository is vast, with many rooms. Pick one and stay there. There's no need for you to live out in the wilderness anymore. This is your home now—no one will harm you here," Lin Jiufeng said, gesturing to the grand structure behind him.
Bai Ling hesitated. She wasn't eager to accept it, but facing Lin Jiufeng's gentle gaze, she eventually nodded reluctantly.
Lin Jiufeng chuckled. "Come on, let's go home."
Bai Ling looked at him, a new glimmer of emotion appearing in her eyes.
Home?
Since the day she was born, she had never known what that word truly meant.
But now, with Lin Jiufeng, she felt it for the first time.
Slowly, she followed him into the Sutra Repository.
