Chapter 89: Better than the pros.
A blink, a single blink, and the match was done, other than filth2's initial scream, they didn't hear any sound at all, no sounds of punching, no sounds of kicking or grunting, nothing other than a single thud. When they looked at the stage they saw a dark blue-haired boy casually standing in front of his opponent who was unconscious on the floor.
"W-winner...Luke Stone.."
"Medics!"
"Don't worry, he's just unconscious" Luke said before stepping off the stage, he went ahead and nonchalantly sat down as if nothing unusual happened.
"You..were right K.." The masked man said with a shocked look under his mask.
"But even if that was the case, that was a little too fast, wasn't it...I was about to blink and that nearly made me miss the whole fight... I'm sure nobody saw it, to the others it must've looked like he just stood there, he made the slightest movement and finished the match, the move was so minor that I almost missed it....just how did you train such a kid," The masked man asked with his hand on his chin.
"Me? train him? sure, that's what it looked like for the first few months but boy was I wrong...within a few months a complete rookie was able to keep up with me, heck he almost beat me back then, he's like this black hole that just absorbs anything and everything, and what we just witnessed isn't even close to what he can do," K said with a hand to his forehead.
"Who do you think would win...my grandsons or this kid?"
"Luke,"
"What about my son or this kid.."
"...I'm not sure.."
".....haaah... you have that much confidence in the kid? while I do believe you, I must ask why didn't he pursue this professionally?"
"Well...somehow all his scheduled matches were canceled....after the first 5 times the matches got canceled, Luke just quit, apparently it had something to do with his luck... bah, I don't know anymore," K said with a frown on his face.
.
.
"N-next rounds participants, please come up..." The host said.
The host tried to rush the pace, hoping the crowd would let what just happened pass, unfortunately, the audience was confused and curious as to what happened,
"Wait...what happened?"
"Why's the match over?"
"The medics are taking the guy"
"Oh maybe, the opponent passed out because he was sick or something??" someone in the crowd said, fortunately, the others in the crowd bought the theory.
"Yeah, probably,"
"Lucky guy!"
"Poor soul, he passed out"
"Hopefully he's alright!"
"Yeah, right, totally, he's sick, pftt" Nate snickered, he couldn't see what happened but because of how used to Luke's reflexes he was, he could see Luke's hand move though it looked like a blur in his eyes.
The matches continued, and it was time for the second round, unlike his first match, Luke made sure his opponent tripped on his feet and fell out of bounds, he had no real reason to show off yet, of course, he did plan to show off in the finals, at least a little, he didn't want to kill his opponent. However, the crowd was now getting rather loud, some were even cursing Luke's luck, and to make things worse, Luke made it all the way to the semi-finals by just making his opponents trip and fall out of bounds, unfortunately, he couldn't do the same thing over and over as the opponent he faced off in the semi-finals had somewhat of a brain and didn't blindly rush him.
"Come on! Beat the Lucky bastard!!"
"Yeah! you got this!!"
The crowd was convinced that Luke was just getting through because of his luck, of course, that was what he wanted them to think.
"Guess, I'll have to use some force this round," Luke said as he faced his opponent.
"Trey Jefferson vs Luke Stone! Begin Semi-finals 1!" The host announced.
*?????*
Trey made the first move and closed the distance, he slightly crouched to gain momentum for his uppercut, his shoulders tucked in, he rotated his hips, in his eyes he had a clear shot, to him it looked like Luke's liver was completely unprotected.
*??????*
He punched but for some reason, his hand didn't connect and met the air, the entire stadium was quiet, nobody said a word, the sound of Trey's punch was clear, it was a clean and sharp uppercut and yet it didn't hit.
'Woah, a boxer huh? that was a good one...unusually so...' Luke thought as he saw Trey's uppercut missing him.
"Hoh?" the masked man exclaimed.
"That's a surprise, he's not that much bigger than Luke but he definitely does pack a punch, at least by the looks of it," K analyzed.
A follow-up left hook, Trey didn't waste any time and threw a left hook the second he realized his uppercut didn't connect, his black hair jumping around with his body movements.
*??????*
"Alright, if that's how you want it," Luke said out loud but he wasn't aware of what he just said, he was quite surprised by Trey's approach, it looked like he really wanted to win. The crowd watched as Luke constantly dodged but the next second Luke immediately backed away and did something that shocked everyone there, he began bouncing, constantly shifting his weight between his legs.
"Oy is he copying his opponent?"
"Huh? he knows how to fight?"
"Uh..K you never mentioned anything about him knowing how to box, I understand he knows how to fight but boxing isn't just punching..." the masked man said.
"...Its his first time..."
"What??!"
"He's copying his opponent, he's learning how to box by copying his opponent, he's never really boxed properly before..." K said slowly, trying to process what was unfolding.
"You actually think you copying me is going to do anyth-"
*??????*
Once again, Luke's opponent was on the floor, nobody knew what happened, all they saw was Luke closing in. They could almost see the ripple in the air when Luke imitated Trey's uppercut to the liver. Fortunately, Luke held back and didn't use too much force, unfortunately, even after he held back, the force his punch had was too much.
"There's no f*cking way....he's actually learning how to box in real-time...forget about learning, that punch was better than some of the professionals....." the masked man said as he got up from his chair.
