Chapter 19: Trading
"Hi everyone, nice to meet you again."
A familiar voice reached the ears of the Night Raid members who were preparing to retreat, causing them to stop and turn around in confusion. However, what caught their attention was a figure they did not wish to confront.
His hair was pale, even his sword-shaped eyebrows were pale, his dark skin seemed even less noticeable at night, and he was wearing red clothing different from the empire's people. They recognized him at a glance. After all, this person had caused the defeat of all Night Raid members. His subsequent behavior also left the Night Raid members somewhat puzzled. Akame's tie had also been sent to the Revolutionary Army headquarters for investigation, but nothing special was found. However, the scene of the man collecting unknown light sources from the tie truly happened before their eyes.
"You bastard." Mine then raised Pumpkin in her hand and aimed it at Shirou. At this moment, her mind was more focused than ever. Facing a strong enemy who had miserably defeated her last time, she wanted to exert her full strength.
*SWISH!*
Akame suddenly unsheathed Murasame, which she had just sheathed. The moonlight in the dark night reflected on the sword, adding a more mysterious color to it.
"Wait, wait, what is this? Is this your enemy?" Tatsumi, who was tucked under Bullat's armpit, couldn't help but shout.
No wonder he was like this. He had just come to the imperial capital from the countryside, was tricked out of his money, taken by a deviant family, his best friend died, and he met an assassin organization. In these two short days, what he experienced might be richer than his life experiences in the past ten years. Now he felt like he was about to be dragged into a pirate ship and seemed to have met the enemies of the assassin organization again.
"Don't worry too much." Without waiting for the reaction of the people in the night raid, Shirou spoke with his usual calm expression, looking at the people present.
"My target this time is not you, so don't be too nervous. After all, if I wanted to attack you, I would have done it when you were separated. You should understand my strength by now."
"How can I not be nervous? You defeated the strongest person in the empire, and you defeated all of us before. If you say you're not nervous, you're lying." Bullat put down Tatsumi and clenched his fists. For him, the enemy in front of him was someone to be wary of.
"Oh? This is quite interesting." Shirou raised his eyebrows and said in surprise.
"You've done a good job in gathering information. No one should have seen the battle between Esdeath and me, but you know about it. Truly surprising."
"No, we're not sure you defeated Esdeath. After all, the news we received was only that Esdeath fought with an unknown person, and the outcome was unknown." Said Bullat.
"But after Esdeath experienced that battle, she often went to the mountains alone, as if to hone herself. She was suddenly in a bad condition after the battle and even suffered serious injuries. Combined with the words you left before, we are basically sure that you defeated Esdeath."
After saying this, even Bullat felt a little helpless.
Esdeath was the youngest and strongest person in the empire. She was famous in the empire. Even when the general guarded the imperial capital, Esdeath, who often went out to fight, could be said to be the strongest combat force in the empire at present. However, even someone as strong as her was still defeated by the young man in front of him.
'It seems this won't end well.'
Thinking this, Bullat gripped the weapon in his hand even tighter.
"Hey, handsome young man, how about we sit down and talk? Fighting and killing are not good things." Just then, a warm voice broke the tense atmosphere.
"Oh?" Shirou looked towards the source of the voice. Leone, who was in a transformed state, waved her hand and greeted him.
"Interesting, how do you want to talk? It seems your performance in the last battle wasn't very convincing."
"Alright, don't be too defensive. This is the imperial capital. If we start a fight, the imperial capital's security forces will come here. I'm sure you don't want to be involved in unnecessary trouble."
"Hmm?" Shirou looked at her with a sneering smile and did not answer. Leone still looked at him with a smile on her face.
"Forget it. You're not my real target. I've said it for a long time. You're the one who's too nervous."
Shirou shook his head and answered.
After saying this, he looked directly at Tatsumi standing beside him, looking a little confused.
"Zaruba, is that him?"
"Yes, the target is him."
"Is that so? Then let's recycle."
As he spoke, Shirou raised his left hand and pointed the skull ring on his left hand towards Tatsumi, who was slightly surprised.
"That ring can talk?" Tatsumi muttered flatly while looking at Zaruba pointing at him, but then he shook his head vigorously and looked at Shirou, "No, no, that's not what I'm thinking. What are you going to do now?"
Shirou said nothing, nor did Zaruba. They just continued their work. As strange fluctuations came out of Zaruba's mouth, Tatsumi was surprised to find that the sword on his back began to emit a faint silver light.
"What is this?"
No one could solve Tatsumi's doubts. The Night Raid members also watched this scene, trying to find some useful information, but they were destined to be disappointed. Just like when Akame did it, they didn't get any useful information. There was no message at all, only a ball of light flying out of the young swordsman's sword and entering the skull ring on Shirou's left hand.
"That's it." Feeling the light source from Zaruba merge into his body, and finally enter the large light source in his body, Shirou nodded in satisfaction.
Then he looked at Tatsumi, who was a little overwhelmed by this strange change.
"Boy over there."
"Why?"
"Your name is Tatsumi, right?"
"Huh? Oh, yes, that's my name."
"Forget it." Shirou looked at the original protagonist who was still a village youth in front of him, "I owe you this time, so this is for you."
As he spoke, he threw something to Tatsumi.
"Oh, thank you." Tatsumi hurriedly caught the object thrown to him and looked at it curiously. It was a small ring made of an unknown metal. It looked very simple and ordinary people might think it was just an ordinary iron ring.
"What is this?" Tatsumi raised his head and looked confused.
"If you're in danger, break this thing and I will feel it. Then I will save you once."
"Only once, hey, wait, what's really going on?"
However, Shirou had no intention of explaining. He turned and jumped, then quickly disappeared from the sight of Tatsumi and the Night Raid group.
