Under His Protection

Cory watched her glow once more, she was looking more beautiful than ever before. She looked like she could light up a dark room with her face.

“Cory, these past few months have been the best months of my life. I mean, I have never been happier all my life. All I knew before was just to party with random strangers, buy pink Ferraris, and do a whole lot of silly things.

Now I know better, I know what is to have a wonderful friend. Thanks for being in my life” she said, sincerity glowing forth from her eyes. Cory felt like laughing, he was still looking at her face when she raised her face and gave him a Short kiss on his cheek.

Lisa came in just then, she had seen and heard all that was said and there was no hiding now, not that Jasmine cared anyway.

“Good morning M.s Jasmine, hi Cory”

“Hello Lisa, are you here with the brief?”

Lisa paused, alarmed, she stared at Jasmine and Cory as if to spell it out to Jasmine that Cory was not a board member.

Lisa gave a sign and instantly, two men in suits came in. They set up the room for the presentation and a powerpoint event started.

“As it is, we are launching our new phone in a few weeks, as the final process was conducted yesterday and our stocks are expected to rise more than 300% for the first in six years. The phone has been predicted by gadget reviewers all over the world, to take the American market by storm. Our marketers suggested we distribute to Africa and Asia since the largest of our customer base has been in Europe for years”

“Thanks, Lisa. Cory, Links mobile frugal ii, will be the fastest phone in the history of mobile phones. With our latest technology, you can use various operating systems on your phone. That means you can use an Android, Microsoft, and Apple operating system if you wish to. The best technology of its kind” Jasmine said.

Cory smiled, he didn’t know much about phones. He took great interest only in surveillance systems and Cars.

“One more thing Ms. Jasmine, recently, workers have been complaining about too much work. H.R has done all it could”

“Alright, what is the complaint about?”

“They are demanding an increase in their pay,” Lisa said.

“Yeah, the workers union has been pushing workers to ask for more,” Jasmine said.

“That could spell doom Jasmine, I know of a corporation in Mexico that went into serious crisis because 67.6 % of their workers left,” Cory said. “I was saying, you can increase their pay by a tangible percentage, but stop paying them monthly. Instead, divide it by how much they make every week and pay them by how many hours they have worked. You can also shut the Union up for life by offering them leave with a leave bonus each time they go for a break”

He had remained there until Mr. Grant by some chance showed up. Mr. Grant greeted him warmly and left. Not until after that, did Lisa smile at him and show him the way to Jasmine’s office. Since then, Cory had decided to be very weary of silly women like Lisa.
