Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Thought They Were Brothers, Turns Out Two Were Undercover!
"A teacher imparts knowledge, resolves doubts, and guides students!"
But there's one thing Han Yu forgot to mention: a teacher also gives students a good beating when necessary.
Look at these literary figures, always leaving out the important parts and misleading their readers.
When a student acts like a thug, they're no longer just a student—they're a thug first and a student second.
Beat them!
Fang Yan had watched a few films about teachers dealing with unruly students before. In those movies, the bad kids were into drugs, girls, drinking, and gang fights, but it all seemed so distant and harmless. Fang never really paid it much mind.
But now, in his role as the honored and responsible teacher of Suzaku Middle School, with the duty of looking after both the girls in his class and Lu Chaoge, he had an obligation to keep his students in line and reprimand the troublemakers. Honestly, if all they did was act like thugs, he could turn a blind eye since their parents didn't seem to care. But barging into the classroom drunk and disrupting the learning environment, filling the room with the stench of alcohol—that was unacceptable.
And the worst part? They had the audacity to insult him in front of the entire class, calling him a "pile of crap." Being called crap by a thug felt like double the insult.
Fang Yan's previous antics—backflipping, reciting Dao De Jing backward, and joking around—had all worked to lighten the mood. So, when Zheng Guodong insulted him, some students couldn't just sit by and watch.
"Zheng Guodong, what are you doing? How can you speak to Mr. Fang like that?" The first to speak up was none other than the class's top student, Huang Haoran.
"Yeah, that's too much! You have no manners," Xu Ying chimed in, also standing up for Fang Yan.
"The smell of alcohol is disgusting. Get out!" shouted another student.
Zheng Guodong sneered, stumbling over to Huang Haoran and pressing down on his head. "Four-eyes, do you believe I can smash your head in?"
"You wouldn't dare," Huang Haoran retorted, refusing to back down.
"Oh yeah? Watch me!" Zheng growled as he smacked the back of Huang Haoran's head. Huang, being a thin and frail student, couldn't withstand the blow, and his head slammed into the desk with a loud thud.
When he raised his head, his glasses were cracked, and a purple bruise had already formed on his forehead.
"Ahhh—!" the girls in the class screamed.
"Shut up!" Zheng Guodong shouted. "Anyone else want to stand up and end up like Huang Haoran?"
The class fell into a shocked silence, everyone staring at Zheng Guodong in disbelief. It was clear that they were all afraid of him.
Fang Yan smirked inwardly. These guys really thought they were hot stuff, didn't they?
He calmly walked down from the platform and made his way toward the back door.
Zheng Guodong stood beside Huang Haoran, his eyes filled with arrogance as he stared Fang Yan down. His two cronies, Li Yang and Chen Tao, stood on either side of him, completely unfazed by Fang Yan's authority as a teacher. They looked smug, clearly confident in their dominance.
Fang Yan stopped in front of Zheng Guodong and asked, "You're a student in Class 9?"
"Zheng Guodong, Class 9," he declared proudly. "Go ask around. There's not a single person in Suzaku Middle School who doesn't know my name. So, let me tell you, Mr. 'Two Flames,' they say new officials light three fires when they take office, but I suggest you don't even think about lighting that first fire on me—because you might just end up burning yourself instead."
Fang Yan turned to Li Yang and Chen Tao. "Are you two also in Class 9?"
"Of course we are. Why else would we be standing here?" Chen Tao, the big guy, replied casually.
"Well then," Fang Yan said, his face serious and his voice stern, "as the Class 9 Chinese teacher, I'm ordering you three to leave. You're disrupting the learning environment."
Zheng Guodong laughed mockingly and looked around at the other students. "Am I disrupting your learning?" he shouted to the class.
No one answered.
Zheng Guodong laughed even louder. "See, Mr. 'Two Flames'? They're not bothered at all. In fact, they're probably more motivated to learn because of us."
Fang Yan was slightly disappointed in the students for their cowardice or their reluctance to stand up to these bullies. But he also understood that, as a new teacher, he hadn't built enough trust with them yet. It made sense that they wouldn't risk provoking these thugs just to defend him.
Pointing to the door, Fang Yan said firmly, "This is a Chinese class, and you're disrupting my teaching. Get out."
Zheng Guodong's temper flared. "What are you, some kind of idiot? Didn't you hear what I said? When I'm in a good mood, I'll recognize you as a teacher. But piss me off, and you're nothing but a pile of dog crap—a pile of crap that'll be stomped on and kicked out of Suzaku Middle School. And guess what? I'm in a bad mood right now. No one on earth or in heaven can save you."
Fang Yan looked at him seriously and asked, "Do you have hemorrhoids on your tongue? Why does everything you say stink like crap?"
Only someone with real wit could insult others so poetically—Fang Yan's vast vocabulary and vivid metaphors gave his words an extra sting.
"You bastard, you dare insult me—" Zheng Guodong's face twisted with rage. He opened his mouth to retaliate, but couldn't come up with a more vicious insult. Furious, he swung his fist at Fang Yan's left cheek.
A student attacking a teacher? Was he out of his mind?
With a swift motion, Fang Yan's right hand circled around Zheng Guodong's arm.
Clearing Dust!
"Ahh!" Li Yang screamed, clutching his eye in pain.
He had just been watching the fight, but somehow the punch landed directly in his eye.
Zheng Guodong froze, stunned for a moment, blaming his drunkenness for the mistake.
With a roar, he swung again, this time aiming for Fang Yan's chest.
Fang Yan calmly drew another circle with his hand and pushed back gently with his palm.
Spreading the Phoenix Tail!
Bam!
Chen Tao took the blow to his chest and stumbled backward.
Both Chen Tao and Li Yang were left dazed. What was going on? Why was their boss hitting them instead?
"Get in here and help me!" Zheng Guodong, now blinded by anger and alcohol, yelled as he charged at Fang Yan. "I'm going to tear this bastard apart!"
Chen Tao and Li Yang quickly scrambled to their feet, afraid to let Zheng face Fang Yan alone.
What followed was a scene none of the students would ever forget.
"I'll kill you for poking my eye!" Li Yang shouted as he punched Chen Tao in the face.
"You son of a bitch, you kicked me where it hurts! I'm going to make you pay for this!" Chen Tao retaliated by landing a solid hit on Zheng Guodong's nose.
"You dare hit me? You dare hit me?" Zheng Guodong, now bloodied and furious, chased after Li Yang, throwing punches as he went.
Meanwhile, Fang Yan, surrounded by the three, moved gracefully, making small, effortless circles with his hands, as if casually walking through a garden. He was completely at ease.
From the outside, it looked like he had nothing to do with the chaotic brawl unfolding around him. He was merely a calm presence amidst the storm.
"I thought they were such close brothers, but it turns out two of them were undercover agents the whole time," a student finally muttered in disbelief, deeply moved by the absurdity of it all.
