Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Looking Like an Idiot and Looking Delicious!
The silver-white professional suit struggled to conceal the curvaceous figure beneath, with her dangerously high chest trembling violently due to her owner's extreme anger. Even the somewhat old-fashioned, thick black-framed glasses on her face couldn't suppress her sharpness, professionalism, and overflowing sophistication.
As the vice principal of Suzaku High School, Lu Chaoge was indeed too young, and definitely too stunning.
Lu Chaoge had graduated from an Ivy League school in the United States. After graduation, she stayed on to teach at New York's top Townsend Harris High School, where her bold and innovative teaching style gained her significant fame in the American high school scene.
It's said that the principal of Suzaku High School personally visited her three times to invite her back from the U.S. to serve as the school's vice principal.
While studying, Lu Chaoge had fallen in love with flower arranging, considering it one of the most beautiful things in the world. This 'Heavenly Ladder' piece was a masterpiece she created after many failed attempts, sparked by a burst of inspiration. She had poured endless passion and effort into it.
Now, her most beloved and proud artwork had been destroyed, and naturally, Lu Chaoge erupted like a volcano, unable to accept it.
After shouting, "What are you doing?" she stormed toward Fang Yan.
Halfway there, she realized the full meaning behind his response of "nothing" when she asked him what he was doing. How vulgar!
How could such a person—such a person appear in her office? What were the secretarial staff even doing?
"Stop immediately!" Lu Chaoge felt like her entire being was about to burst into flames. If she could transform into Ultraman, she'd definitely send this shameless scoundrel into space to fall in love with aliens. Then, she'd write a screenplay about their love story called A Jerk from Earth and have it aired on an alien TV station—it'd be a guaranteed hit.
Fang Yan stopped.
He turned to see a woman, so breathtakingly beautiful it was almost absurd, storming toward him. He immediately raised his hands in a defensive stance and said, "We can talk this out—don't get emotional. Even if you do, you won't be able to beat me."
Lu Chaoge hesitated.
It wasn't because she planned to "talk it out" with this man, but because—this scoundrel was waving a pair of sharp, gleaming scissors.
A wise woman knows when to retreat; it's common sense to avoid rogues and... gay men.
Lu Chaoge backed up to the office door and shouted loudly, "Someone! Security! Help!"
Thud, thud, thud—
The office director, Zheng Jing, rushed over, his round body blocking Lu Chaoge. Pointing at Fang Yan, he shouted, "What are you doing? Fang Yan, what are you doing? If you have something against me, come at me, but don't harm our Vice Principal Lu!"
Come at you?
Looking at Zheng Jing's purple-red face, slick with oil, Fang Yan silently refused: "In your dreams!"
"I'm helping to trim these plants." Fang Yan smiled sheepishly, pointing to the 'Heavenly Ladder' he had trimmed. With the look of someone who'd done a good deed without seeking recognition, he added, "I had nothing better to do anyway."
Lu Chaoge was on the verge of tears.
Plants? That was flower arranging—an art piece!
Did it need your trimming? Could an ordinary person even trim it?
But from their conversation, it seemed like Zheng Jing knew this rogue.
Fang Yan? Wasn't he the new teacher she was supposed to meet?
"Fang Yan?" Lu Chaoge eyed Fang Yan like he was a monster. How could such a person be a teacher? Wouldn't he mislead the students?
No, this needed careful consideration.
If this guy didn't have real talent, she'd block him at the door, no matter whose connection got him the job. As the vice principal of Suzaku High School, she had to be responsible for the school—and even more so for the students.
"Fang Yan, this is our Vice Principal Lu," Zheng Jing introduced, seeing the scissors still in Fang Yan's hand. He scolded, "Put those scissors down! What are you trying to do, scare someone? I'm telling you, as long as I'm here, you won't lay a finger on Vice Principal Lu's... hair!"
"I'm not a barber, why would I touch your principal's hair?" Fang Yan explained. "And besides, these aren't knives—they're scissors."
There's a big difference between a knife and scissors, and the consequences would be drastically different if anyone wanted to press charges.
As he spoke, Fang Yan obediently turned around and put the scissors back on the windowsill.
Scissors back in place, the danger was gone.
Lu Chaoge quickly walked up to the vase and pointed at her 'Heavenly Ladder,' demanding, "Who gave you permission to touch it? Without someone's consent, how could you just mess with someone else's things? Don't you have any manners? Any sense of decency?"
"Art allowed me to touch them," Fang Yan explained.
"What?" Lu Chaoge's already large eyes widened. Who was "Art"? Was there someone at the school with that name? What right did they have to let someone touch her flower arrangement?
"It was the spirit of art, the pursuit of beauty, that made me unable to resist touching them," Fang Yan said sincerely, looking at Lu Chaoge. "It's about improving the work, about the unspoken understanding between us."
Good heavens, looking at his serious and earnest expression, and gazing into the man's deep, passionate eyes, Lu Chaoge almost felt convinced.
"It must be true," a voice in her mind whispered.
But alas, Lu Chaoge was still Lu Chaoge—America's high school education queen and the vice principal of Suzaku High. She had seen more men than Fang Yan had ever seen in his life, so there was no way she'd be swayed by such an amateurish charm offensive.
"Unnecessary." Lu Chaoge waved her hand forcefully, her voice resolute. "Without my permission, who gave you the right to touch other people's things? Who gave you this authority?"
"I already explained it," Fang Yan said innocently.
"The spirit of art? Unable to resist?" The more Lu Chaoge thought about it, the angrier she became. "I must look like an idiot to you, huh?"
"No, no!" Fang Yan quickly denied it. "You look... quite tempting."
Lu Chaoge was stunned.
Was this guy flirting with her? Was he trying to hit on her?
Zheng Jing was also stunned.
What the hell was this guy doing? How could he talk to the principal like that?
Didn't he know that Vice Principal Lu was the infamous "Ice Queen" of the school?
Zheng Jing decided to fulfill his duties as the office's assistant director. He quickly waddled over to Fang Yan and pointed at him, shouting, "Fang Yan, what nonsense are you spouting? Apologize to Vice Principal Lu right now!"
"Apologize? Why?" Fang Yan felt wronged. "Are you saying Vice Principal Lu isn' attractive?"
"Of course not—" Zheng Jing caught himself just in time. Vice Principal Lu was certainly attractive, but even if she was… it's not like we could do anything about it!"
Why am I discussing this with you? Can we even talk about this in front of Vice Principal Lu?
"You might not think so, but I find her pretty irresistible," Fang Yan said. "But I can't blame you. Everyone has their own tastes. I think Vice Principal Lu is great—tall, long legs, beautiful face. If we're going by common standards, if the full score is 100, I'd give her 101—she's exceeded all my previous definitions of beauty."
"I never said Vice Principal Lu wasn't attractive—" Zheng Jing quickly explained.
Seeing Lu Chaoge's icy gaze sweep over him, Zheng Jing broke into a cold sweat. He quickly shifted the blame back to Fang Yan and yelled, "Fang Yan, what kind of attitude is this? How dare you speak to the principal like this! Do you still want to be a teacher at Suzaku High? I've never seen such an uncultured job applicant! You want to be a teacher? Dream on! Get out—get out now!"
Fang Yan shrugged, looking at Lu Chaoge. "Sorry, I did overstep. But—if you truly love flower arranging, you should be able to understand my feelings."
Fang Yan then looked at Zheng Jing and said, "When I reach your... excellent physique, I'll definitely roll myself into a ball like you."
"You—" Zheng Jing was about to explode.
"So, I guess I failed the interview?" Fang Yan shrugged again and smiled, heading for the door.
"Don't leave!" Lu Chaoge's eyes were still glued to the 'Heavenly Ladder' that Fang Yan had trimmed as she shouted after him.
