Ultimate Teacher

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: If You Won’t Let Me Live in Peace, I Won’t Let You Either!

Huang Haoran hung his head low, a white bandage plastered across his forehead.

After class, his classmates had taken him to the school clinic. After examination, it turned out his forehead was only lightly bruised, with no serious injury.

Chen Dahai, looking at the wound on Huang Haoran's head, asked with concern, "Are you okay, Huang Haoran? Your head alright?"

"I'm fine," Huang Haoran muttered quietly.

"Sigh, that Fang Yan really… How could he be so careless? Nowadays, every family only has one child, treasured in the palm of their hands, cherished like a precious gem. And here he comes, his first day, and someone's already gotten hurt like this. It's truly heartbreaking."

"It wasn't Fang Yan who hit me—" Huang Haoran said.

"Huang Haoran," Chen Dahai's smile faded, and his previously gentle tone turned hard. "It was Fang Yan who hit you. He meant to hit Zheng Guodong, but accidentally struck you instead."

"That's not what happened," Huang Haoran insisted through gritted teeth.

Chen Dahai fell silent, his gaze cutting through Huang Haoran like a blade.

At the middle and high school level, there weren't many students who dared to defy their teachers.

"Huang Haoran, in front of me, you're still a child—but you're also getting older. As a high school student, you should start thinking like an adult," Chen Dahai advised in a coaxing tone. "Listening to your teachers will never lead you astray, right? Do you think a teacher would ever harm you?"

Huang Haoran said nothing.

"You're a smart kid, Huang Haoran. You got into Suzaku High School with excellent grades, and I'm sure your parents have high expectations of you. You know what the right choice is, don't you? Don't worry, I'll make sure to look out for you in my math class. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask anytime—I'll give you special help," Chen Dahai patted his shoulder, adopting a friendly tone. "Fang Yan will definitely be gone soon. You're the temporary class rep for Chinese. When the new Chinese teacher arrives, I'll make sure they confirm you as the official rep. Don't forget, I'm your homeroom teacher—I have that authority."

After saying this, Chen Dahai turned and walked away.

Huang Haoran's face was flushed with frustration as he clenched his fists tightly, muttering under his breath, "But wrong is still wrong—"

"Principal Lu, I think your hairstyle suits you perfectly. It's both stylish and professional, complementing your position without hiding your beauty. Every detail of your outfit reflects your impeccable taste," Fang Yan whispered from behind Lu Chaoge.

Zheng Jing, standing beside Fang Yan, listened to his shameless flattery of Principal Lu with a mix of jealousy and anger.

He was jealous that such audacious compliments flowed so effortlessly from Fang Yan's mouth.

He was angry because he had warned Fang Yan not to flirt or tease Principal Lu, yet it seemed his words had gone completely unheeded.

"Fang, are you not even a little worried?" Zheng Jing reminded him.

"Thank you for your concern, Director Zheng," Fang Yan turned and politely responded to Zheng. "The innocent have nothing to fear. I didn't hit anyone, so I'm not worried about them finding my fingerprints on those students."

"But what if you accidentally brushed up against them—" Zheng Jing began.

"Impossible," Fang Yan interrupted. "I'm not that kind of man. I don't casually touch other men."

"Fang Yan, I've fought for you," Lu Chaoge said.

"I know," Fang Yan stepped forward, leaning closer to her. "I can never repay your kindness, Principal Lu. Even if I offered myself to you, it still wouldn't be enough—"

"Fang Yan—"

Both Lu Chaoge and Zheng Jing scolded him at the same time.

Lu Chaoge shot a cold glance at Zheng Jing, then turned to Fang Yan and said, "You need to watch what you say in certain situations."

Lu Chaoge's instruction to "watch what you say" didn't include a prohibition against such words entirely. The nuance was not lost on those present.

Zheng Jing, realizing his mistake, awkwardly smiled but dared not say more.

He knew that being too involved would only make Lu Chaoge dislike him more, which wouldn't help him complete the task assigned to him by his superior.

"Got it, Principal Lu. I'll make sure to say these things privately next time," Fang Yan promised.

"If you get fired today—"

"I won't cry, won't complain, won't brag, and won't need anyone to know."

— Was he quoting song lyrics?

At that moment, the door to the lab opened from the inside.

Lu Chaoge and everyone else who had the right to be involved rushed forward, all talking over each other, "Dr. Cai, have the results come out? How did it go?"

Dr. Cai signaled for everyone to quiet down. "After thorough and scientifically rigorous testing and comparison, we've matched the fingerprints collected from the injured students with those of the suspect—"

"So, what's the result?" Everyone looked at him expectantly.

"No matches," Dr. Cai announced.

"None? Not a single match?" Li Mingqiang asked, unwilling to give up.

"Not a single one," Dr. Cai repeated. "After careful analysis, we found that all the fingerprints on the three students were left by each other—in other words, they attacked one another."

Li Mingqiang was furious.

Who told you to add that? Who told you to include that explanation?

"Give me the report," Lu Chaoge demanded.

Dr. Cai handed her the report. After reviewing it, she raised the document high and addressed the crowd, "The truth is now clear. This should clear Fang Yan of any suspicion of beating students, correct?"

Li Mingqiang's face turned ashen. "This is only the first stage of the investigation. We still need to hear from the students of Class 9. They were there and witnessed the incident firsthand."

"Moreover, when students fight in the classroom, the teacher also bears some responsibility for failing to maintain control. If a teacher can't even manage such a situation, are they truly qualified? Suzaku High School is an elite institution—we don't need mediocre teachers like this. I still propose that we dismiss Fang Yan and recruit a more qualified Chinese teacher for Class 9."

Lu Chaoge was about to speak when Fang Yan suddenly stepped forward, positioning himself in front of her.

With a look of guilt, he addressed Li Mingqiang, "Director Li is right. When students fight, the teacher is indeed responsible. I suggest we just give these three students a major demerit and leave it at that. Let's not expel them. It's my fault for failing to manage them properly, and I should take the main responsibility—"

Everyone present was dumbfounded.

Li Mingqiang was practically screaming in his head: Who said anything about expelling them? Who said anything about expelling the students?!
