Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Use Mine Eat Mine Sleep Mine
"It's just an iceberg, isn't it? What grand scene haven't I seen?" Su Chen stood in front of a standalone villa in West County with a frosty expression on his face.
"Why haven't you gone in yet?" A single sentence shattered all the momentum Su Chen had built up.
Su Chen glanced at the woman in her thirties standing at the door, his expression turning somewhat awkward, "Uh... Auntie, you haven't gone to bed yet..."
This woman, named Qiu Jinghan, is the "iceberg's" nanny. Hearing the "iceberg" call her auntie, Su Chen naturally did the same, though it seems they have no blood relation.
"The miss said you would come home tonight, she asked me to wait for you here," Qiu Jinghan said with a smile.
Despite being in her late thirties, bordering on forty, she still retained her charm. Yet, she wore no makeup and dressed plainly, which made her less striking.
With some makeup and a nice outfit, she might even compete with those pretty young girls in their twenties.
"She asked you to wait for me? Auntie, stop joking. She'd be glad if I didn't come back at all!" Su Chen said with a self-deprecating laugh.
Doesn't he understand her? He only went home once this month, and his so-called wife didn't even bother to give him a phone call.
Perhaps in her world, someone like Su Chen doesn't exist at all.
"Just come inside," as soon as Su Chen finished speaking, a cold voice rang out.
Su Chen looked up, his gaze meeting a pair of black and bright eyes, yet filled with an intense chill.
His heart skipped a beat. She, how was she not asleep yet!
At this moment, Lin Xi was still in her work attire, her beautiful figure creating a stunning view.
Her long black hair was tied in a slightly voluminous bun at the back of her head, with her bangs parted in the middle, and excess hair tucked behind her ears. Her eyebrows were curved like crescent moons, with long, curled eyelashes beneath, and large, round, watery eyes. Her delicate nose was like sculpted jade, and her mouth like a cherry, with skin whiter than snowflakes...
The black and white blazer was paired with a fashionable beige shirt, and black skinny pants that perfectly highlighted her straight legs.
A pair of black stiletto heels added even more to her appearance.
Standing there, under the light, she shone with a divine glow, forming a sharp contrast with the weary Su Chen.
If Lin Xi was a noble white swan, then Su Chen was an unremarkable wild duck.
"Uh, wife, you, you aren't asleep either," Su Chen braced himself and said.
"My husband stays out all night, drinking and partying, how could I sleep?" Lin Xi's expression grew even colder, and a strong sense of sorrow surged in her heart.
As the youngest and most outstanding woman in Jiangdu City, only twenty-four years old and already worth billions, not to mention her stunning looks, many people thought that only a business magnate or a big star could match her...
Yet, she ended up marrying such an insignificant man and even registered for marriage.
Being the CEO of Yimena, she seemed to lead a glorious life, but in reality, she was just a pawn of her family. Speaking of which, she was as good as sold by her family for a handsome price of ten billion.
Ten billion, an amount ordinary people could not earn in ten lifetimes, but she, Lin Xi, was confident she could make that in ten years.
But ten years, it's too long, the family can't wait that long.
Maybe when she makes enough ten billion, she'll be free... maybe!
She had thought that anyone who could afford to marry her with ten billion couldn't be too bad, but...
Su Chen sighed inwardly, knowing it was indeed about this matter.
Yet his face remained playful and cheery as he said, "I'm back now, aren't I? I'll come home every day from now on!"
But Lin Xi was not swayed, rebuking him coldly, "Su Chen, I don't care about you eating my food, using my things, living in my house, but you are still my husband. Hanging around in bars all the time, what is that? If someone sees you, where will I, Lin Xi, put my face?"
Originally, Su Chen had been quite touched that Lin Xi waited for him until eleven o'clock, but after hearing Lin Xi's words, all his emotions dissipated. She was just afraid that he would embarrass her, so he replied coldly: "So what?"
"So, you either go find a job for me, or you stay at home and not go anywhere!"
Lin Xi's tone was so firm that Su Chen's face immediately turned grim.
"Miss didn't mean that, she was thinking of letting you..." Qiu Jinghan saw the situation was about to spiral out of control and quickly tried to smooth things over.
But unfortunately, Su Chen had already turned and left.
Qiu Jinghan quickly called after him: "Su Chen, where are you going?"
"Didn't you hear? She said I'm freeloading, so I'm off to find a job! If I can't find one, I won't come back!" Su Chen said without looking back.
"In the middle of the night, where can you find a job... Miss, please persuade Su Chen..." Qiu Jinghan didn't quite know what to do.
"Let him go!" What kind of temper did Lin Xi have? Would she plead with someone she truly despised?
A fully capable man, yet idling away, relying on his wife for food, clothing, and shelter was bad enough, yet he even used her money to pick up girls at bars!
In truth, she didn't really care about Su Chen fooling around with other women, but after all, she was a well-known figure in Jiangdu City. Although their marriage was not publicized, if it were exposed that her husband frequented bars every day, mingling with vulgar, caked-up women, how could she show her face in public?
"Ah Miss, it was well-intentioned to begin with, how did it turn out like this?" Watching this pair of feuding souls, Qiu Jinghan also felt quite helpless.
Originally, Lin Xi waited for Su Chen tonight because she wanted to give him a job at her company; she planned to assign him some light work that didn't require much effort or thought, but things turned out this way...
Nothing could be done, both Lin Xi and Su Chen were strong-willed, neither willing to be suppressed by the other, and so it came to this point.
Lin Xi kept a cold face; she wanted to see just what kind of job a good-for-nothing pretty boy like him could find!
Suddenly, she felt her mind drifting... That feeling, it had returned.
Lin Xi hurried back to her bedroom and removed a necklace from her neck.
The necklace was teardrop-shaped, blood-red throughout, and if one looked closely, they could even see faint glimmers of light swirling within it.
It was given to her by a man three years ago while she was studying abroad. At that time, the man had sustained severe injuries, with half of his body almost shattered.
Lin Xi was terrified; she couldn't fathom how a person with such grievous injuries could still be alive.
"Keep it safe, it will bring you good luck, let no one know of its existence... if possible, hand it over to..." The man had not finished his sentence before he breathed his last.
Since then, the necklace stayed with Lin Xi, strung together with other crystals, making it just another ordinary-looking crystal necklace.
Only on the darkest nights could one faintly perceive a glimmering light moving on it.
The man didn't finish his words, she didn't know who to give the necklace to, so she kept it herself, making sure no one knew of its existence.
This necklace, as if it really could bring her good fortune, from then on, whether it was her studies or career, everything went smoothly.
Of course, it could also be a placebo effect.
Until a year ago, she suddenly began experiencing spells of dizziness, then couldn't see anything, with only a murky, blood-red haze before her eyes.
It sounded like whispers were in her ears, yet she couldn't make out the words.
She was somewhat scared, wanted to throw the necklace away, but didn't want to break her promise.
Thankfully, those episodes were rare and only lasted a few seconds each time, not greatly affecting her, so she kept it.
However, lately, it seemed that these episodes were occurring more frequently…
