Chapter 39: Ch-39: Taking over the konoha police department
They say women can slow a man's sword-drawing speed.
After a full morning, Kingsu finally walked out of the room, leaving Anko peacefully asleep. He had spent the night by her side, and now, duty called. Alone, Kingsu made his way to the Konoha Police Department to take over his new role.
When Furukawa Morino spotted Kingsu's approach, it was as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He rushed forward with a sigh of relief.
"Kingsu, you're finally here! Hokage informed me that you'll be taking over the police department. Take a look—these are summaries of the most recent cases. I've placed them on the desk for you. The drawer holds the records for each office, and the keys are already prepared. The handover is complete! I'm out of here!"
Furukawa couldn't hide his eagerness to leave. This role had never suited him. While he excelled at interrogation and handling prisoners in the dark confines of Konoha's torture chambers, dealing with the day-to-day affairs of the police department was pure torment for him. He felt more at home in the shadows than chasing down petty thieves or settling neighborhood squabbles.
As soon as Furukawa left, Kingsu sighed in relief and sank into the swivel chair behind the desk. Boredom crept in as he thumbed through the files, slowly spinning in the chair.
He had to admit, Konoha was remarkably peaceful. The people of the village were kind-hearted, and the stability of everyday life was impressive. There hadn't been a single serious case in months. The majority of the police department's workload consisted of minor disputes and petty crimes.
This lack of excitement was likely the reason why Furukawa had been so irritable. There was simply no challenge in handling mundane, routine matters.
Kingsu leaned back, lost in thought. "Maybe I should have my wives take over here. They'd be perfect for dealing with neighborhood disputes or domestic arguments. Women have a much more delicate touch and are better suited for these kinds of tasks."
"If something more serious comes up, like catching a real criminal or handling a dangerous situation, then I can bring in Hong or Anko to deal with it."
Kingsu nodded to himself, satisfied with his decision. He closed the file, retrieved the keys from the drawer, and prepared to return to the Uchiha clan to arrange the new roles for his wives.
Just as he was about to leave, Inuzuka Akimi walked in.
She was still dressed in her usual work attire—wearing a pristine white coat over a snug, form-fitting blue skirt. A black collar with a small copper bell tied around her neck added her signature touch.
"Phew, I finally found you, Kingsu~" she said, a teasing smile on her lips.
Akimi was a mature woman, her demeanor full of confidence and charm. She bore a strong resemblance to Akita's mother from Boruto's timeline, though Akimi's personality was distinct. She had become a character of her own in Kingsu's life.
Kingsu immediately stood up, concern in his eyes. "Akimi? Why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting at the confinement center after giving birth?"
With a light laugh, Akimi waved off his concern. "I'm stronger than you think, Kingsu! I'm a powerful kunoichi. My body isn't that delicate. I was back at work the day after giving birth. Look—I'm still in my work clothes! Doesn't it look good on me?"
Kingsu smiled, amused by her boldness. "Yes, it looks good, but that's not the point! You should still be resting. Come on, I'll take you back to the confinement center."
But before he could act, Akimi pressed him back into the swivel chair, sitting comfortably in his lap. "Not so fast~ There's no need to rush. The Inuzuka clan is built differently from regular people. We're strong, resilient, and can recover from anything quickly. Don't worry so much. If you have to compare, think of us like orcs—our vitality is unmatched. Don't look at me like I'm just another human."
Kingsu felt a twinge of guilt. "I've been so busy these days. I haven't had time to properly take care of you. I didn't even realize you weren't at the confinement center. It's my fault as your husband."
Akimi smiled, brushing off his concern. "I know you're busy. That's why I came to find you. And here—this is for you."
She handed him a small, transparent glass bottle. Inside was more than half of an unknown liquid, and floating in the center was something unmistakable: a scarlet Sharingan.
This was the Sharingan of Uchiha Shisui, the one Danzo had taken and implanted into his own body. After Danzo's downfall, Kingsu had made sure to retrieve it, knowing it would be invaluable.
"I couldn't fit Danzo's right arm in my pocket, so I left it in the lab. But I've been keeping Shisui's Sharingan preserved," Akimi explained.
Kingsu smiled. "Thank you, Akimi."
She grinned back. "Oh, just a thank you? Aren't you going to give me a reward?"
Kingsu raised an eyebrow, his tone playful. "Of course. What reward would you like? Name it, and if I can, I'll make it happen."
Akimi's eyes twinkled mischievously. "That's what you said, so I'll hold you to it... Wait, can this chair spin?"
Kingsu chuckled. "It's a swivel chair. Of course, it can spin."
Akimi giggled. "I like this chair. It's fun."
Kingsu felt Akimi's fingers playfully run down his arm, her touch light but teasing. He whispered in her ear, "Is this what you want as a reward? If so, let's not do this in the chair."
Akimi turned, her eyes half-lidded with a smile. "Nope, right here~"
Kingsu sighed but couldn't suppress a smile of his own. "Here? Really?"
She nodded enthusiastically. "Mm-hmm~"
"Tsk, tsk, you're impatient, aren't you?"
---
A short while later, the sound of a copper bell jingling could be heard softly in the office.
"Ding... ding... ding..."
---
The sun had already started its descent when Kingsu finally emerged from the office. His mind was already busy planning how to delegate tasks within the police department. He intended to bring some structure to the team, one that would allow him to focus on more critical matters without worrying about the day-to-day operations.
Anko and Hong would handle most of the cases that didn't involve life-threatening danger, while he would step in only when his strength or influence was truly required.
Kingsu felt a sense of accomplishment as he thought about the future. Despite the challenges ahead, he was determined to grow stronger, protect his family, and solidify the position of the Uchiha clan in the village.
For now, his attention was divided between his family, the police department, and the unseen threats that loomed on the horizon. But he was confident in his abilities—and with allies like Akimi and Anko by his side, there was little he couldn't overcome.
