Uchiha of Zenless Zone Zero

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Night Falls, Now Vanish into Silence…

On the other side, the group that had stealthily infiltrated the building quickly found an unoccupied room.

Zhong Yan unfolded a blueprint of the building he had prepared in advance and laid it out in front of the others.

"This building has over twenty floors. We can't determine exactly where the safe is being kept, so our top priority is to capture the Red Fang Gang's leader, Silver. He definitely knows where it is."

As he spoke, Zhong Yan began assigning tasks: "We'll split up into three teams. Belle, you take the bottom three floors. Anby, you handle floors four through ten. I'll take care of the rest."

This distribution was clearly based on individual capability, but both Anby and Belle immediately objected.

"No way. You're going to check all those upper floors alone? If something happens, you won't even have a chance to escape through a window. Absolutely not," Belle protested without hesitation.

Anby nodded in agreement. "The Proxy is right. I think it's better if the three of us stick together. That way, we maintain our maximum combat strength."

It was clear both of them were deeply concerned about his safety. Zhong Yan felt a warmth in his chest but still insisted, "If we act together, it'll be way too inefficient. The longer we stay here, the greater the risk of being discovered."

"Just trust me this once. When I escaped from that horde of Ethereals, I didn't make it out just by luck." Zhong Yan patted his chest with confidence.

Seeing how firm he was, Anby and Belle exchanged glances and reluctantly gave in.

Still, they couldn't help worrying. Anby even stepped forward and gently took Zhong Yan's hands. "If you run into danger, tell me immediately. Don't hesitate—just run."

Belle, wanting to get involved too, stepped forward—only to realize she was currently piloting Eous and couldn't even hold Zhong Yan's hand.

That annoyed her. If only I had some real strength, she thought. Then I wouldn't just be standing here like a useless third wheel.

"Relax. When this mission's over, next time I'll treat you to all the burgers you can eat," Zhong Yan said with a grin, reaching out to pat Anby on the head. She playfully leaned into it like a content little cat.

Watching this, Belle—inside her Bangboo shell—grew flustered. She began waving both arms and jumping in place. "You two! Hurry up and get moving already!"

Prompted by Belle's outburst, Zhong Yan and Anby stopped their little moment.

And so, the operation officially began.

...

On the eleventh floor of the building, in front of a door that led directly to the main hall, two fully armed Red Fang Gang members were slouched on the floor playing cards.

They'd been stuck with this boring job for a full week—there was no way they could actually enjoy it.

But orders were orders. This came straight from Silver himself. All the gang members held him in high regard. None of them would dare go against his command.

"Shift change is coming up soon. Wanna go grab a couple drinks later?" one of them asked after checking the time.

The other looked worried. "Uh... I don't know. Isn't the boss still pissed? Wouldn't that be... risky?"

"Relax. The boss is swamped with work—he's not gonna care about two nobodies like us. Besides, we're not even leaving the building. We'll be fine," the first one said confidently, pounding his chest.

That reassurance did the trick. The second guy looked tempted.

But before they could come to an agreement, the overhead lights abruptly went out—without warning.

The entire eleventh floor was plunged into pitch-black darkness. Not even a hand could be seen before one's face.

"W-What the hell?!"

Caught off guard, the two were visibly panicked. A few seconds later, they heard something rolling across the floor. Quickly, they turned on the flashlights on their phones, scanning the area.

One of them soon spotted a small iron ball lying on the floor. Curious, he picked it up and examined it under the light.

"What is this..."

Before he could figure anything out, the iron ball suddenly exploded.

From beneath a thin inner plastic casing, a surge of electric current flared up with the blast—right in front of them.

Sparks crackled and burst outward in every direction, instantly flooding the entire hall with harsh blue light, accompanied by the sharp bzzt-bzzt of electric discharge.

The two guards didn't even get a chance to scream before collapsing to the ground, twitching. Smoke wafted visibly from their bodies—they looked at least seventy percent cooked.

Once the electricity faded, Zhong Yan—now wearing night-vision goggles—emerged from the darkness.

His strategy was simple: cut power to each floor, then use night vision and the tools he had prepared to eliminate targets one by one.

But mass blackouts and disappearing personnel would inevitably attract attention from other Red Fang Gang members.

Realizing there was no longer any way to stay hidden, Zhong Yan stopped holding back.

He disabled his earpiece, tucked it into his pocket, then activated his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. With Kamui, he pulled himself into its pocket dimension.

When he reemerged, he had transformed.

Dressed in a flowing deep-blue robe, face obscured by a white spiral mask—Zhong Yan had taken on the guise of the legendary Hollow Raider: Uchiha.

He gazed into the pitch-black hall, where confused gang members were beginning to panic due to the outage. Taking a deep breath, he reached behind and unslung the war fan on his back.

The next instant, he vanished in a blur.

He reappeared behind a Red Fang Gang member and—without the target even realizing it—swung the fan with brutal precision, smashing the man's head into pulp.

Blood sprayed across Zhong Yan's robe and mask, while bits of brain matter spattered the floor.

His movements were sharp and efficient, his strikes executed with cold precision. There was none of the usual gentleness in him now.

Zhong Yan was once a model youth raised under nine years of compulsory education—but Uchiha was a different story.

Faced with enemies, Zhong Yan might hesitate if they were acquaintances.

But a group like the Red Fang Gang—ruthless, terroristic...

Tonight, under a blood-red moon, their end would be unforgettable.

And Zhong Yan couldn't help but echo a line perfectly suited for the occasion:

"Night has fallen... now vanish into silence."
