Chapter 1: [Chapter 1]: Am I Supposed to Fight the Lion King?
"By the grace of my Lord! Let divine wrath descend!"
A blazing inferno ignited everything in sight.
Kenshi, clad in heavy armor, stood among the ranks. His nearly enclosed helmet did well to conceal the shock on his face.
But it wasn't just the hellish slaughter unfolding before him that shocked him.
Noticing a strange phenomenon, Kenshi realized he had somehow arrived in a very dangerous place.
The vast blue sky stretched above, and high above, an eternal halo of light overlooked the land.
As a ten-year veteran of the Fate/Grand Order game, Kenshi knew all too well what the halo represented—it symbolized the incineration of humanity by the sorcerer-king Solomon.
Was Fate/Grand Order not a fictional world but a reality-based game?
Kenshi remembered how just a few minutes ago, he'd opened the game, and in the blink of an eye, found himself here.
So, I've crossed into a Singularity?
Drawing on his extensive gaming experience, Kenshi quickly recognized the true identity of the knights committing the massacre before him—they were Crusaders from the 13th-century Crusades! Judging by the situation, he was also part of the Crusaders.
Am I in the sixth Singularity, or is this an earlier period?
After the initial shock, Kenshi suppressed his panic, placing a hand on the hilt of his sword, and began thinking about how to escape.
These Crusaders were nothing more than madmen, destroying everything in their path. If he stayed any longer, he'd likely reveal a flaw and face a terrible end.
At that moment, Kenshi noticed something strange about the world. Thin lines, like cracks in shattered glass, spread across everything!
Is this the Mystic Eyes?!
Kenshi's expression grew serious. The cracks were everywhere—on the fire, bodies, ground, and sky—varying only in intensity.
If this was the Type-Moon universe, Kenshi surmised his vision change was due to the so-called Mystic Eyes. But what kind of Mystic Eyes were these?
Glancing around, he saw the Crusaders still lost in the thrill of slaughter. Without hesitation, he drew his sword and slashed at the nearest crack. To his surprise, it cut through easily. The blade slid smoothly along the crack, slicing a massive boulder in half!
Kenshi's eyes widened.
The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception...
Through this test, he confirmed the changes in his eyes were likely the legendary Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, allowing him to see the inevitable death of all things.
These lines must be the so-called death lines, the manifestation of death itself. But instead of feeling joy at this powerful ability, Kenshi understood that to obtain the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, one must experience death firsthand. There was no other way.
So, I died once?
Kenshi's expression darkened. He had no memory of such an event. One moment he was here, and the next, some of his memories disappeared.
Without dwelling on his death, Kenshi focused on the Singularity before him.
Suddenly, the air froze. While contemplating his situation, Kenshi felt a chilling sensation crawl up his spine. Every hair stood on end, and he instinctively turned toward the distant wilderness. The nearby Crusaders, too, finally reacted, turning their gaze in the same direction.
At the far edge of the wilderness, a pure white figure on a white horse was charging rapidly toward Kenshi and the Crusaders!
Kenshi squinted, struggling to make out the figure's appearance.
A white cloak, lion-like armor—
Staring at the figure, Kenshi felt an ominous realization dawn on him.
The Lion King—Artoria Pendragon!
Through her deep assimilation with the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad, she had become a divine being.
As Kenshi recognized the Lion King, the Crusaders around him began to move.
"Heretic! Exterminate the heretic!!"
The Crusader knights roared furiously, charging forward as flames spread, burning the world to ashes!
"Why aren't you going?"
Noticing Kenshi hadn't moved, a tall Crusader shouted at him in confusion.
"Fight the Lion King? Me? Seriously?"
Kenshi looked at the sword in his hand, dumbfounded. Just as he was about to drop it, he heard an angry shout: "You're a heretic too!"
A massive sword came crashing down toward Kenshi's face!
Simply because of his inaction, the Crusader turned his sword on him!
The raging flames followed!
Facing the sudden attack, Kenshi's eyes turned cold. He activated his Mystic Eyes and swung his sword to meet the blow!
Slash!
The blade sliced through the death line, cutting the Crusader knight and his sword in half from top to bottom!
The knight fell silent on the spot.
Without glancing at the corpse, Kenshi quickly turned his attention back to the Lion King. As expected, the Crusaders who had charged at her lay on the ground, with gaping wounds piercing clean through their chests.
A silent pressure surged toward Kenshi with the force of a tidal wave. After dealing with the Crusaders, the Lion King had finally turned her gaze upon him!
"Please, allow me to become your knight!"
Ignoring the overwhelming sense of impending death, Kenshi immediately knelt on one knee, his firm voice echoing through the air.
"Oh? Become my knight?"
The pure white Lion King rode her white horse right up to Kenshi.
"You are a knight, so why have you betrayed the king you serve and wish to pledge loyalty to me?"
Kenshi did not answer. Kneeling, his body trembled uncontrollably, cold sweat pouring down like rain. The mere gaze of this monster in human form terrified every inch of him.
There was no doubt—she was a true god!
Through gritted teeth, he said, "Everything is for the salvation of humanity!"
"Oh?"
The Lion King's golden eyes flickered slightly, intrigued by his words.
"The Crusaders have rotted. They are nothing more than madmen burning this world. The moment I saw you, I found the answer!"
Kenshi slowly stood up, removed his helmet, and crushed the sacred emblem symbolizing the Crusaders in his palm.
"I will pledge my loyalty to you!"
Crack!
The Crusader emblem shattered in his hand.
At the same time, a brilliant light emanated from Kenshi's body.
"A soul of purity. I am the Lion King, Lord of the Storm, Master of the End. Tell me, what is your name?"
The pure white Lion King dismounted her horse, removing her helmet. Her golden, sand-like hair fell silently in the sunlight, her fully revealed, heroic features unforgettable.
"Kenshi, a knight from a faraway land!"
The Lion King's expression remained cold.
"I grant you permission. I will bestow my blessing upon you."
Boom!
Divine-level magical energy exploded, engulfing Kenshi in an instant! Under the impact of that magical energy, Kenshi's entire body froze. He instinctively activated his Mystic Eyes but to no avail. He could only watch as the Lion King placed her hand on his chest.
"Your Mystic Eyes are unparalleled, but you are too weak."
Scarlet blood flowed from the Lion King's fingertips—not just Kenshi's blood, but her own!
Dragon's blood—
Kenshi's expression stiffened as thoughts of Arthur Pendragon's Red Dragon legend, akin to the Vile King Vortigern, raced through his mind!
The endless dragon's blood flowed into Kenshi's body, transforming every part of him!
