Type-Moon, But I Summon Tom

Chapter 10: Chapter 25: The Power of Cats!

Just as Jerry was about to climb up the step in the entrance hall, it suddenly felt a shiver run down its spine, as if something bad was about to happen.

Jerry cautiously turned its head and, closing its left eye, looked back with its right eye. There, above it, was a large cat poised to pounce at any moment—Tom!

Seeing this, Jerry was so startled that it jumped into the air. Upon landing, it didn't hesitate and immediately tried to run forward. However, just like Tom earlier, Jerry found itself slipping in place, as if running on a treadmill.

Just as Jerry was about to make its escape, Tom leaped forward, extending its claws toward Jerry's location.

The moment Jerry dashed out, Tom felt confident it had this in the bag. It clenched its claws, perfectly... missing Jerry entirely, and instead face-planted into the ground, sliding at a 45-degree angle for a full three meters before coming to a stop.

Tom quickly scrambled to its feet, its head now flattened like an iron, completely smooth.

Tom shook its head vigorously, and its head miraculously returned to its original shape—a medical marvel. It then glared angrily at Jerry, who had already run some distance away and was now standing there, munching on a melon seed and mocking Tom.

Seeing Tom get back up and prepare to continue the chase, Jerry quickly turned and started running again.

It had just managed to get back inside; there was no way it was going to let itself get thrown into the trash can again. That was unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable. No matter what, it had to get back home! It refused to spend the night outside!

As the cat-and-mouse game resumed, Tom and Jerry began their chase once more, darting around the house while Minamoto watched from the coffee table, now certain that this mouse was indeed Jerry!

No other mouse could walk upright, slip in place, and dodge Tom's attacks like Jerry could.

After all, if it were one of Jerry's relatives, it probably wouldn't even need to run—it would just fight Tom head-on.

For now, Minamoto could only sit back and enjoy the show. He had no chance of catching the mouse himself, and using a Command Spell to capture Jerry would be a waste—like using a cannon to kill a mosquito. So, even though Tom's performance this time was far worse compared to its earlier quick capture of Jerry, Minamoto decided to trust it.

During the chase, Jerry tried several times to sneak back into its mouse hole, but each time Tom blocked it, forcing Jerry to run around the living room.

Finally, Jerry reached the open kitchen counter and started hurling objects at Tom.

"Bang! Smack!!" Tom narrowly dodged the plates and spatula Jerry threw, its face filled with rage as it prepared to charge again. But then it paused mid-charge, its gaze fixed on the spatula Jerry had thrown.

Picking up the spatula, Tom smirked, its eyes shifting toward Jerry.

Jerry's heart sank. Oh no, it had accidentally armed its enemy!

Jerry quickly stopped teasing Tom and jumped down from the kitchen counter, trying to make a break for its home. It had a feeling things were about to go south.

Almost the moment Jerry jumped down, Tom shot forward like a cannonball, closing the distance in just a few breaths.

"Smack!" The moment Tom caught up, it swung the spatula hard, aiming to flatten Jerry. But this time, Jerry wasn't running blindly—it kept an eye on Tom behind it.

Seeing Tom raise the spatula, Jerry leaped about thirty centimeters into the air, perfectly dodging the attack.

Seeing its first strike miss completely, Tom frowned and swung again—second, third, fourth, fifth strikes... all of them missed. Not a single one landed.

"Smack!" After dodging another strike, Jerry started to get cocky.

This time, after dodging Tom's attack, Jerry turned its head mid-air and stuck out its tongue, taunting Tom right in its face. "Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah~~~!"

Seeing Jerry's reckless move, Tom's eyes lit up. It didn't miss this golden opportunity. Knowing Jerry would be airborne longer while taunting, Tom gripped the spatula tightly and swung it horizontally with all its might.

"SMACK!!!"

Jerry clutched its butt, howling as it was sent flying through the air. "Ow↘ ow↗! Ow! Owwww!!!"

Thud!

Finally, Jerry hit the corner of the wall and slid to the ground, kneeling with its head down and hands clutching its butt.

From both Tom's and Minamoto's perspectives, Jerry's butt was now glowing red, flashing like a warning light. To an outsider, it might look like someone had turned a smoke detector into a mouse-shaped ornament.

Tom laughed, sticking out its tongue and placing a hand on its forehead as it watched Jerry get sent flying into the corner. It wasn't about to let this chance slip—it was time for a combo!

Rushing to the corner, Tom raised the spatula for another strike.

Jerry, still clutching its butt, noticed Tom coming and panicked. It quickly stopped rubbing its butt and leaped into the air, dodging the spatula again.

But Tom wasn't just here for one strike. After missing, it saw Jerry jump into the air—right in front of it. Tom tossed the spatula aside and reached out with both hands, easily catching Jerry.

"Hahahahaha!" With Jerry in its grasp, Tom leaned in with a wide, sinister grin. "Behold my power~!"

As soon as it finished speaking, Tom continued its maniacal laughter. "Hahahahaha!!!"

Faced with Tom's massive, grinning face, Jerry's expression fell. It knew it was done for.

The second attempt to return home had failed!

After finishing its taunt, Tom prepared to throw Jerry out of the house again.

"Wait, don't throw it out yet, Tom!" Seeing Tom's movements, Minamoto quickly stopped munching on melon seeds and stood up, calling out to stop Tom.

If Jerry got thrown out again, it might be a while before it could get back in.

Hearing this, Tom's running motion came to a halt. Luckily, Tom was a cat with good balance, or it might have tripped. Steadying itself, Tom turned to Minamoto with a confused look, unsure what Minamoto wanted.

Jerry, still clutched in Tom's hand, wore the same bewildered expression.

Though it didn't know what Minamoto was planning, Tom didn't run to the door, fling Jerry into the air, and kick it into the trash can. Instead, it walked over to Minamoto, still holding Jerry, looking slightly uneasy.

Minamoto looked at Jerry in Tom's hand and swallowed hard.

This... was his second summoned Servant—Jerry, a being whose combat prowess rivaled Tom's.

Jerry, meanwhile, looked at Minamoto, trembling slightly as it waited for him to speak. It wondered if Minamoto was going to make it do manual labor to pay for the broken dishes. It had no idea what was coming, and the unknown was always the most terrifying.

Staring at Jerry in Tom's hand, Minamoto took a deep breath, then raised his head and asked in a dramatic, chuunibyou-like tone, "I ask you, are you my Servant?"

...

...

"?" Hearing this, Jerry squinted, taking a long time to process what Minamoto meant. A large question mark even appeared above its head. Finally, Jerry tilted its head and looked at Tom, who was holding it.

Tom, equally confused, shrugged and spread its free left hand, indicating it had no idea either.

After a moment of mutual confusion, both Tom and Jerry turned to Minamoto, waiting for him to explain.

"What am I even saying... so embarrassing..." Seeing that his attempt to mimic Saber's iconic line had fallen flat, Minamoto covered his face with his hand. He had thought Jerry would nod in response, but the awkward reaction made him want to dig a hole and hide.

But at least it wasn't a human—just a cat and a mouse. They wouldn't laugh at him...

"Pfft..." But as if on cue, just as Minamoto thought this, Tom seemed to sense his embarrassment. Though it didn't understand what Minamoto was embarrassed about, Tom couldn't help but chuckle.

Minamoto's gaze immediately shifted to Tom, causing the cat to break out in a cold sweat. Tom stood up straight, beads of sweat rolling down its face, its legs trembling. It felt like it was about to be done for, even mentally preparing its will.

But Tom's worries were unnecessary. Minamoto glared at it for a moment, his fists clenched... but in the end, he said nothing, swallowing his frustration.

Calm down, calm down, Minamoto thought. He sat down on the floor by the coffee table and said to the cat and mouse, "Anyway, sit down first."

Hearing this, Tom and Jerry exchanged glances and nodded. Jerry pushed against Tom's hand and managed to free itself, then jumped down onto the coffee table and sat down.

Tom also sat down, right behind Jerry on the floor.

"You just arrived here, right?" Minamoto asked, looking at the mouse sitting on the table.

Jerry thought for a moment. It remembered falling asleep in another house and waking up here, so it must have just arrived. It nodded.

Minamoto thought to himself, "So Jerry really was summoned during that summoning ritual I thought was a dud. It's just that the target was too small, and it probably scurried into its mouse hole right after being summoned, which is why I didn't notice."

However, it seemed Jerry didn't have the knowledge of being a Servant. It probably just thought it had moved to a new home. The first time Minamoto noticed Jerry, it was trying to steal the half-price bento he had bought.

"Then, I have a proposal. Want to hear it?"

Jerry nodded again. It had nothing better to do, so it might as well listen to what this guy had to say.

Seeing Jerry agree, Minamoto laid out his proposal: "From now on, I'll provide you with food and shelter, and in return, you just need to offer a tiny bit of help. How about that?"

As he spoke, Minamoto extended his right hand, making an "OK" gesture, then slightly separated his thumb and index finger.

Hearing this, Jerry's eyes lit up. Free food and shelter? It was wide awake now.

It hadn't expected this human to be so generous, offering to take care of a little mouse like itself. And all it had to do was provide a tiny bit of help? This Tom's owner was clearly a good person!

Think about it—what could a human possibly need from a little mouse? Nothing, really. Even if there was something, it would surely be easy. No need to worry at all.

In other words, Jerry could basically freeload without lifting a finger!

At this thought, Jerry grew anxious. It quickly stood up, scurried across the coffee table to Minamoto's side, and grabbed his left index finger with both hands, shaking it vigorously as if afraid Minamoto would change his mind.

"Then... happy cooperation!" Minamoto was amused by the little mouse's enthusiasm. He had just recruited a powerful ally, one that could rival Tom.

And all he had to offer was a bit of food. It was a win-win—he won twice!

Meanwhile, on the roof of a high-rise building in Fuyuki City.

Two faint blue lights flashed, and two girls—one with purple hair, the other with orange hair—appeared on the rooftop.

"Is this... Fuyuki City in 1994, Senpai?" The purple-haired girl looked down at the bustling streets below, so different from the hellish Fuyuki she remembered.

"Yes, that's right, Mashu. It seems so." The orange-haired girl, Fujimaru Ritsuka, tightly hugged the girl she called Mashu, her left hand casually resting on something soft. She spoke with a serious expression, though her words were nonsense.

"Um... Senpai?" Feeling the pressure from Ritsuka's hand, Mashu's face turned red.

"We've arrived ten years before the Holy Grail War of Singularity F. For some reason, the anomaly index here reached an extreme value two days ago. Our first task is to investigate the current situation."

As she spoke, Ritsuka furrowed her brow, pretending to be deep in thought, while her hand continued its mischief.

In fact, at some point, Ritsuka's entire body had started to become chibi-fied!

Mashu swallowed hard. Ritsuka often entered this chibi state for no apparent reason. While the cause was unknown, one thing was certain: whenever she fully entered this state, she became the epitome of scum—not only scummy but also obsessed with gacha.

In short, it was hard to describe Ritsuka's mental state at times like this.

Seeing Ritsuka starting to grope her, Mashu finally managed to speak up. "Senpai, what are you doing...? This is too strange!"

"It's fine, Mashu. We're high up, so no one will see~." Ritsuka's right hand slowly moved upward, eventually pinching Mashu's chin. "And Chaldea's communications are probably down again, so it's totally fine~."

"Even... even so...!" Mashu admitted she was somewhat tempted, but a shred of rationality remained. "Ah~."

"...Ahem, actually, the connection is still on." Just as Mashu was hesitating, a voice chimed in. A screen appeared in front of them, showing a man with a ponytail wearing a white lab coat.

"Tch, Doctor, you're here." Ritsuka's enthusiasm instantly waned. She quickly exited her chibi state and casually pushed Mashu away, as if entering a state of post-climax clarity. She acted as if nothing had happened.

After Ritsuka stopped, it was Mashu who felt a sense of loss, her heart suddenly empty.

"Although I've said this before, I'll say it again. The current situation is different from what we observed earlier."

Seeing the awkward atmosphere, the man called the Doctor chose to ignore what had just happened. "This isn't a continuation or prelude to Singularity F. Although it's roughly ten years before Singularity F, the place you've entered seems to be the world of 2012."

"Huh? Didn't the scan before departure show a Singularity in 1994?" Mashu adjusted her glasses, confused.

"That was the case, but after you arrived, things changed. The timeline shifted from 1994 to 2012, and the Human Order Foundation Value went from C to ???. The reason is unknown. Your mission is to investigate the cause and correct it."

Hearing this, Ritsuka recalled the 2012 doomsday movies she had watched years ago. She lazily clasped her hands behind her head and said, "2012... isn't that the year of the Mayan prophecy about the end of the world?"

"If that's the case, we're really doomed..." As the Doctor spoke, his image began to glitch. "The communication seems to be failing again. I'll leave the rest to... you..."

With that, the connection to Chaldea was completely severed.

"Now... there's no one to disturb us."

Ritsuka raised her sinful hands once more, slowly approaching Mashu.

"Wait... wait, Senpai!" Seeing Ritsuka about to start again, Mashu took half a step back, her face flushing red.

But as she stepped back, she noticed a familiar figure standing on a bridge below. She quickly extended her left hand to stop Ritsuka and pointed downward with her right. "Wait, Senpai, look over there!"

"Huh?" Seeing Mashu's reaction, Ritsuka stopped and looked where Mashu was pointing.

There, standing on the bridge, was a white-haired man in casual clothes, raising his hand in a French salute, greeting Ritsuka and Mashu.

"Who is that again?" Ritsuka placed her right hand on her forehead, squinting at the white-haired man.

In stark contrast to Ritsuka's reaction, a small white dog that had arrived with them and had been idle for a while noticed the white-haired man. It immediately jumped onto the railing of the building, baring its teeth at the man as if it had found its lifelong enemy.

"Huh? Fou, that's dangerous!" Seeing Fou jump onto the railing, Mashu quickly pulled it back.

Seeing Fou's reaction, Ritsuka crossed her arms, resting her right elbow on her left hand and placing her hand in front of her mouth, pretending to analyze the situation. "Fou's reaction... it must be that person!"

"Ah, it's Merlin." After getting a clear look at the white-haired man's face, Mashu exclaimed in delight. "That's great! With Mr. Merlin here, we can find out what's going on in this Singularity! Senpai!"

Just as Ritsuka was about to dramatically deliver her conclusion, Mashu beat her to it, rendering her setup pointless. "...Well, I was hoping to say that myself."

"Huh...?" Mashu tilted her head, unsure what Ritsuka meant.

"Never mind. Let's go down, Mashu." Ritsuka wrapped her arms around Mashu's neck, and Mashu, in turn, picked her up in a princess carry.

"Understood, Senpai." With Fou perched on her shoulder, Mashu leaped down from the rooftop with Ritsuka in her arms.
