Chapter 6: 7
Chapter 7: Devil's Dance
As the dust settled from the demon's last attack, Dante cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders as a grin spread across his face. "You demons really need a new opening line. Always the same thing, 'Son of Sparda this, traitorous spawn that.' I get it, Daddy had some commitment issues."
The demon let out a guttural growl, eyes burning hotter. "Mock me all you want, whelp. Your father's sins will be repaid in your blood."
Dante clicked his tongue, flipping Ebony & Ivory in his hands. "Oh, buddy, you wish you could afford my blood. But let's be real..." In a blur of motion, he fired off a barrage of bullets, forcing the demon back. "you can't even touch me."
The demon roared, swinging his Bloodcraver, sending out a wave of dark energy that tore through the ground. Dante leapt over it effortlessly, twisting midair. His body shimmered, and suddenly, the form of an adult Dante landed on the ground, trench coat flowing dramatically.
"Henge," he mused, admiring his own hands. "Gotta love ninja tricks."
The demon wasn't amused. It dashed forward, its inhuman speed closing the gap in an instant. Dante barely had time to parry as Bloodcraver clashed against his Devil Sword Dante, sparks flying as raw power shook the area.
Dante whistled. "Okay, not bad. You lift, huh?"
The demon sneered. "I destroy"
With a twist of its blade, it knocked Dante's sword aside and launched a devastating kick, sending him skidding backward. Dante dug his heels in, shaking his head. "Tsk, tsk. We just met, and you're already getting rough with me?"
With a snap, Dante switched out his sword for Alastor, the lightning-charged blade crackling with energy. "Let's see how you handle a little shock therapy."
He lunged, blitzing forward at great speed, clashing blades with the demon again. Lightning surged from Alastor, jolting through the demon's body. It snarled in pain but held firm.
"That all you got?" the demon taunted.
Dante's grin widened. "Not even close."
Cerberus materialized in his hands, the three-section nunchaku spinning faster than the eye could follow. He slammed them into the demon's ribs, frost exploding outward and freezing part of its arm.
The demon hissed, shaking off the ice. "Enough!"
It raised Bloodcraver, and suddenly, a dark aura erupted around it. Dante felt it immediately, the air grew heavy, the ground cracked beneath the sheer force of the demon's rising power.
Its Devil Trigger had activated.
The demon's muscles bulged, its horns extended, and its ashen skin darkened, pulsating with crimson veins of demonic energy. The power surge was insane.
Dante nodded, genuinely impressed. "Alright, I'll give it to you, you bulk up nicely." He gave a slow clap. "But let's see if that helps when you're flat on your ass."
The demon disappeared in an instant, its speed had doubled. Dante barely managed to dodge as a colossal sword strike ripped through the air where he had been standing. He flipped back, but the demon was relentless, teleporting behind him and slamming a fist into his gut.
Dante grunted, the impact sending him flying through a tree. He tumbled, landing in a crouch, wiping a bit of blood from his lip. "Oof. Now that was a punch. Almost made me feel it."
The demon didn't let up, charging again.
Dante sighed. "Alright, time to stop holding back."
He threw Dr. Faust onto his head, the wide-brimmed, white hat fitting perfectly. With a flick of his wrist, red demonic energy, in the form of a scarf surged around him.
The demon lunged, only for Dante to moonwalk backward, effortlessly avoiding the strike.
The demon blinked. "What the?"
Dante spun, twirling mid-air, unleashing a barrage of glowing red energy bolts in sync with his movements. "Come on, buddy, feel the rhythm!"
He glided across the battlefield, side-steppingevery attack with perfect timing, tossing his hat into the air and catching it before striking a pose.
The demon, clearly pissed, roared and brought Bloodcraver down in a devastating vertical slash.
Dante caught it.
With two fingers
The demon's eyes widened in disbelief.
Dante smirked. "That's cute. Let me show you how it's really done."
With one effortless flick, he sent the demon flying backward, crashing through a row of trees.
Dante rolled his shoulders, dismissing Dr. Faust and summoning the Devil Sword once more. "Alright, big guy. Round two?"
The demon staggered to its feet, growling. "I will..."
Dante was already in front of it.
His sword buried halfway into the demon's gut.
"Whoops!" Dante chuckled. "Gotta be faster than that."
The demon coughed blood, eyes wide.
Dante leaned in, smirking. "But hey, look on the bright side, you put up a hell of a fight."
He twisted the blade.
The demon screamed.
And with a final, powerful swing, Dante bisected the demon in one smooth motion, splitting it in two.
As the creature's body began to disintegrate, Dante flicked the sword to clean off the blood.
He exhaled, cracking his neck. "Welp. That was fun."
As he turned to leave, a deep, unfamiliar voice echoed in his mind.
"Sparda..."
Dante froze.
