Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Twilight Hunter Chapter 16

It was only a few moments later when Arthur ate the entire bowls of salad that he lifted his head toward Edward and asked in his usual emotionless tone.

"Did you say something?"

Edward simply looked at him for a moment in bafflement before softly shaking his head.

"Nothing, are you done eating?"

"Yes, I'm done," Arthur replied with a nod of his head.

"Alright, let's get out of here then, I'll send you back to your house."

"Sure." Arthur nodded though an array of thoughts went through his head in a split second.

'Do I show it to him? It doesn't matter even if he sees it, he's not the type to start rumors or talk about it, and secondly if what he says is to be trusted then I'm his sister's mate, telling others besides his family wouldn't do him any good in fact it would only have disadvantages.' Arthur thought as he gave himself a shallow nod.

The two got up from their tables, Edward headed to the counter to pay for the food whilst Arthur directly headed to the parking lot next to the restaurant.

Night had already fallen and it was completely dark, the moon was close to reaching its highest peak in the sky.

"Hop in," Edward said from behind him whilst he pocketed his wallet and unlocked the car with the key he held in the other hand.

*Beep* *Beep*

"I hate cars that do that," Arthur said as he opened the front passenger car door and sat before closing it.

Edward quickly followed him into the car and turned the ignition key soon after closing the door to the driver's seat.

"Well, It's good that this is my car then."

"Yeah, sure," Arthur replied as he quickly changed the seat so that it would be more laid back.

Edward immediately released a sigh.

"Rosalie is going to kill me when she finds out that you changed that."

"Why does she usually sit here?" Arthur questioned.

"Yes, she took ages to find the exact car seat position that she liked," Edward replied as he reversed out of the parking lot.

"It's good that it's not my problem then," Arthur replied before turning his head to look out of the window.

"Yeah, sure," Edward replied whilst his lips twitched in slight annoyance.

The car ride from then on forth was quiet with the only sound being the radio as well as the wheels on wet asphalt as well as the wind sounds around them as Edward drove at speeds highly dangerous for anyone who wasn't a supernatural creature.

"I'll die if you get hit. Slow down." Arthur practically demanded.

"Thank god it's not my problem," Edward replied whilst a small grin grew on his expression before he slammed the gas pedal even further.

"It's not? I'm sure my so-called mate and your sister would mind though, maybe I just have to send her a message." Arthur said causing Edward to immediately remove his foot from the gas pedal.

"Good boy," Arthur said emotionlessly before turning his head toward the window once more.

"You two are too damn similar, no you're worse, it's like you only have her bad traits," Edward said.

"That makes me toxic right?" Arthur questioned absentmindedly.

"No, It just makes you annoying to deal with."

"I see." Arthur nodded before completely ignoring Edward once more.

After around half an hour, the two arrived at Forks.

"So which way is your house?" Edward questioned.

"At the abandoned house near downtown Forks," Arthur replied.

"Alright."

Fifteen minutes later, the silver Volvo arrived in front of the abandoned house.

"So where to from here?"

"Nowhere, We've arrived," Arthur replied as he removed his seat belt and opened the car door.

"We've arrived?" Edward questioned as he raised an eyebrow, only for his eyes to widen slightly as he saw Arthur close the car door and head toward the abandoned-looking house.

'That's his house?' Edward thought in bafflement.

He didn't drive away, simply staying seated whilst looking at Arthur heading into the house.

Finally, after a few moments, Edward released a sigh and opened the door before walking toward Arthur.

"Come with me."

Arthur simply turned toward Edward and gave him a confused look.

"No thanks, I'd like to get some sleep first before anything else, I need to conserve the energy that I gained tonight," Arthur said before opening the creaking front door.

"No, how can you even live here as a human?" Edward questioned as he grabbed Arthur by his clothes.

"It is actually quite cozy, if you want I can show you in," Arthur said in reply, his tone finally showing a sliver of emotion.

It was pure annoyance.

At his words, Edward released him before nodding his head and walking inside the house.

Looking around he quickly found the living room.

Arthur who walked behind him started explaining.

"That over there is my stove which I use wood to light up, I use it to cook and warm myself in the winter, over there is my bed, and on the other side of the room is the kitchen where I keep my foods. That's it." Arthur said before he walked to the stove and quickly started to light it up.

"That's it? Do you call this cozy? If it wasn't for your enhanced body then you would have already died in these conditions, Arthur." Edward said, his voice containing more and more pure annoyance as he spoke though it was clear that one emotion trumped them all.

Edward was concerned about Arthur, it was clear as day.

"I don't need your pity or concern Edward Cullen, I've lived like this for years, and I enjoy having this quiet place for myself, It's not the best but it is mine. Now you can see yourself out."
