Volume 3 Chapter 88 / Chapter 255: The Protagonist, Want Junior Sister Pei
Feng Yudie followed Ye Anping, walking slowly along the veranda of the Yun Residence.
Her mind replayed Yun Jiujiu’s outrageous words from earlier, as if she had figured something out. Her gaze unconsciously shifted to Ye Anping’s pants, her face practically screaming, “I want to touch it.”
“Hmm…”
Ye Anping stopped in his tracks, noticing that they were alone. He turned to look at her, but when he saw her gaze drifting downward, he followed her line of sight and looked down. Instantly, his eye twitched, and he reached out to lift her chin, forcing her head upward.
“What are you looking at?”
“…Nothing.”
Feng Yudie averted her eyes but suddenly realized something else. Ye Anping was lifting her chin with his finger! She quickly took a step back, furrowing her brows as she said,
“What are you doing?”
“Huh?”
“What did I do?”
Feng Yudie wiped her chin and scowled. “Why are you lifting my chin? You sneaky devil, trying to trick me when I’m not paying attention. I won’t fall for it! Hmph—”
“…?”
Ye Anping couldn’t wrap his head around her logic. She had been staring at his crotch, and yet now she was accusing him of deceiving her? The nerve!
At that moment, two golden streaks of light cut across the sky, accompanied by a howling wind overhead.
Ye Anping looked up and saw the lights landing in the courtyard they had just left. He immediately realized that the two Nascent Soul elders, Elder Tian Xing and Elder Wu, had likely arrived.
After a moment of thought, he said,
“Senior Sister Feng, Yun Yiyi will be entering the Thousand Swords Pool with Elder Tian Xing and Elder Wu, along with Yun Jiujiu, either today or tomorrow. I need you to go with them and ensure their safety.”
Feng Yudie furrowed her brows, contemplating, and asked,
“Can I really go with them? There are two Nascent Soul elders, right? If even they can’t protect them, how could I?”
Ye Anping shook his head slightly, explaining,
“Elder Tian Xing and Elder Wu will focus on fighting Zhuang Yan and Yun Kunwu. Although Yun Kunwu has appeared in his Cursed body form, his cultivation technique is already incredibly defiant. Even against a Void Return cultivator, he wouldn’t be defeated immediately.
“The battle between those four will create shockwaves that could kill Yun Yiyi and Yun Jiujiu dozens of times over.”
“……”
“Moreover, the elders will have to use all their strength to deal with Zhuang Yan and Yun Kunwu. They won’t have the capacity to protect the two of them.”
“So, my job is just to hide with them?”
“Yes.”
“Are you sure I can handle it? They’re Nascent Soul cultivators! Last time, Elder Li from the Chi Dragon Mansion waved his hand and nearly killed me.”
Ye Anping smiled faintly and nodded.
“Your Immortal Emperor Dragon Body is more than sufficient.”
Stare~~~
Feng Yudie narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
Last time at Chi Dragon Mansion, Ye Anping had said the same thing. The result? A mid-stage Core Formation demonic cultivator had skewered her shoulder clean through, leaving her in pain for days.
Seeing her expression, Ye Anping pursed his lips in mild frustration. He suddenly felt that his subordinate was becoming more cunning—refusing to work without a promise of higher rewards.
After hesitating briefly, he said,
“I promise you’ll emerge unscathed. Also, once this matter is resolved, I’ll give you a reward that will leave you satisfied.”
“Hmm… Junior Sister Pei?”
“Huh?”
Feng Yudie blinked and asked eagerly,
“Can I kiss Junior Sister Pei?”
“Out of the question.” Ye Anping smiled amicably and raised his hand to stop her. “It’ll be better than Junior Sister Pei.”
“…What could possibly be better than Junior Sister Pei? Even spirit stones pale in comparison to her!” Feng Yudie said proudly, puffing out her chest. “Junior Sister Pei is the greatest treasure in my world!”
Ye Anping rolled his eyes at her and continued,
“It’s a cultivation technique. One that’s almost perfectly suited for you.”
“Pfft~~” Feng Yudie immediately gave him a big eye-roll, looking utterly uninterested. “I’d rather have more spirit stones.”
Ye Anping shook his head slightly. Out of habit, he reached for his storage bag, intending to show her the two incomplete volumes of the Mysterious Yin Art he had obtained earlier. But remembering that his storage bag was with his junior sister, he gave up.
“I don’t have it on me, but I promise you’ll love it when you see it.”
“Fine.”
Feng Yudie pouted slightly, looking a bit disinterested. After thinking for a while, she seemed to find a loophole and frowned in doubt,
“But can I even go in with them? Isn’t that the Shadowmoon Sword Sect’s forbidden ground? Besides, Jiujiu is still mad at me.”
“She won’t be.”
“How do you know?”
“Yun Jiujiu has a fiery temper—it flares up quickly but dies down just as fast. She’s spent so much time with you; she can’t forget the days you spent drinking, eating roast chicken, and sparring together. That emotional sunk cost is there. She might ignore you on the surface for a while, but inside, she’s extremely conflicted. If you take the initiative and talk to her, she’ll agree to let you come along.”
Feng Yudie froze for a moment, her brows furrowing tightly as she sneered sarcastically,
“Wow, you’re quite the expert at deceiving girls, aren’t you?”
“Thanks for the compliment.”
“Who complimented you?! You scumbag!” Feng Yudie crossed her arms and turned her head away, but after thinking for a moment, she asked,
“And you? What are you going to do? Don’t tell me you’re just going to sit around and wait for my good news.”
“I’m going with my junior sister to rescue Yun Xi. I also need to support the two elders in their fight against Zhuang Yan and Yun Kunwu. When two evenly matched sides face off, even the smallest advantage can determine the outcome.”
“Oh…”
Feng Yudie waved her hand dismissively, shot one last glance at Ye Anping’s lower half, and turned to head back toward Yun Jiujiu.
“Alright, I’ll head back now.”
“Mm…” Ye Anping nodded but suddenly paused and called out,
“Wait.”
“What now…”
“Let me borrow your flying sword.”
Feng Yudie narrowed her eyes, raised her hand, and spread five fingers, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Five hundred?”
“…Fine, five hundred later.”
“Hmph!”
Feng Yudie pouted, pulled her flying sword out of her storage bag, and tossed it to him before turning to leave down the veranda’s corridor.
Ye Anping caught the sword, watching her walk away. He looked down at the weapon in his hand, murmuring,
“Deceiving…”
It seemed to him that Feng Yudie had recently grown resentful toward him. Her earlier comment, “Wow, you’re quite the expert at deceiving girls,” gave him a faint inkling.
Could it be that Feng Yudie thought he was flirting with her?
As the idea crossed his mind, Ye Anping furrowed his brows, lost in thought. He hadn’t noticed it before, but reflecting on the past year, their interactions did seem to carry an inexplicable ambiguity.
Subtle and unintentional…
A suspicion rose in him—was this the result of the “Fated Bond” that Sima Xuanji had mentioned? Perhaps the will of Heaven was drawing him and Feng Yudie closer without either of them realizing it.
Pondering this, Ye Anping found himself idly imagining what Feng Yudie would look like unclothed.
Feng Yudie, with her ageless features and perfectly proportioned figure, should have stirred something within him. Instead, his thoughts were as calm as a gentle breeze. His heart remained still, untroubled, as though he were meditating in a tranquil temple.
In fact, if he lingered on the image much longer, Ye Anping felt he might achieve enlightenment on the spot.
Shaking his head, he dismissed the matter from his mind. He threw out Feng Yudie’s flying sword, stepped onto it, and soared toward Xiri Peak.
