Chapter 37 - The Blame Others Tournament
Day 1.
I did a cam broadcast.
Enduring the embarrassment, I even did the Zero Two dance that’s popular these days.
Then the viewers teased me, saying I was as stiff as a log.
Still, thanks to the carrying power(?) of the mid swaying according to the law of gravity, many water balloons burst.
I cleared the mission.
I diligently gathered points.
Day 2.
I did a cam broadcast.
A big spender came.
They said they would shoot 5000 water balloons if I cleared the horror game they proposed as a mission.
Foolish guy.
I’m a man. And I’m quite strong against scary things.
I thought how easily I could earn water balloons like this… but it was the first time since my body changed to female.
Just like my reduced alcohol tolerance, my changed heart couldn’t stay still.
From the moment the dark and scary background music started playing, it was already pounding as if I had sprinted 100m, and eventually, screams kept coming out of my mouth.
And from the next day, my sobbing clips and photos with bizarre expressions spread everywhere.
Yeah, it’s my karma. Damn… viewers will milk this to tease me for a while.
Day 3.
I did a cam broadcast.
I cleared another mission.
Points are coming in steadily.
But the firepower of water balloons shown by viewers is gradually weakening.
It seems viewers are showing slight fatigue, perhaps because it’s the first time doing cam broadcasts for 3 consecutive days.
Moreover, it was still a cam broadcast wearing a mask, not gradually upgrading like before.
Day 4.
I got harsh words from Mia.
She said I seem to have changed lately.
She got a bit angry, saying I’m only doing cam broadcasts and seem distracted when the tournament is just a few days away.
As expected, straightforward Mia who doesn’t mince words.
Although the other team members didn’t say anything, they seem to have similar thoughts, looking uncomfortable.
I felt hurt too.
This is also an effort to win the game, after all.
But since I can’t talk about the program or points I have, I swallowed my feelings and finished today’s team game practice.
I asked myself.
Am I frustrated?
Then let’s work harder and win for sure.
Day 5.
Combining the remaining 250 points with about 180 points I’ve scraped together recently, I now have 430 points.
This is not enough yet.
Although I didn’t turn on the cam broadcast because I felt uncomfortable, I focused on missions given by viewers and diligently gathered water balloons.
Perhaps thanks to that, I ranked 63rd in this week’s water balloon ranking posted in the gallery.
Recently, chat messages saying I’m a “money-obsessed bird” often appear because of water balloons.
Of course, it’s mixed with jokes, but I think I should stop obtaining points by clearing missions with water balloons here.
If this continues, it might negatively affect my image in the long run.
And finally, I achieved it.
500 points, which was my first goal.
If I try a bit harder tomorrow and the day after, I might be able to gather close to 600 points.
Let’s give it a try.
Day 6.
Fighting!
Day 7.
I succeeded. Better than expected… Now I’m out of points.
Let’s show it through games and results!
Four teams participate in the Blame Others Tournament.
SupportBlame, IkuEku, Lark, and AltF4 Team.
The match format is simple.
Each team has a total of 3 official matches on the first day.
[SupportBlame vs IkuEku / Lark vs AltF4]
[SupportBlame vs Lark / IkuEku vs AltF4]
[SupportBlame vs AltF4 / IkuEku vs Lark]
After these results, the top 2 teams advance to the finals the next day, and if there’s a tie, those teams have a rematch.
The schedule is expected to start at 5 PM and end around 11 PM or midnight at the latest.
“Alright, we can do this.”
“Let’s go!”
“I’m no longer the one who collapses helplessly.”
“Let’s show them something great today.”
“I’ll carry.”
Unlike usual, my confident statement surprised all the team members.
But then they respond by saying they’ll carry too, trying to raise the mood together.
While it might be a conscious act for the team members, it’s different for me.
Actually, I’ve been hiding it all along, even during team practice games.
My improved and grown skills.
I secretly tested and got a feel for it by playing solo ranked on a sub-account.
How much my current skills have improved through abilities.
‘I completely avoided revealing my strength. That means other teams’ understanding of my skills is still the same as when I was struggling in the Yeti range.’
Diamond 4.
The cursed range also called Yeti.
A place where intentional trolls act as Diamond rank gatekeepers and torment people who sincerely play the game.
Because of that, it’s often disregarded as not much different from Platinum 1.
I somewhat agree with that part.
A hardworking Plat 1 player would be much better than a Diamond 4 who throws games on a whim and ignores teamwork.
‘But that’s not the case anymore. Diamond 4 will become a word completely unrelated to me.’
I proudly checked the newly acquired abilities softly glowing in the game category.
[Agile Control 2, Guillotine Match 4, Wide Vision]
Guillotine Match 4, which cost a total of 600 points (30-100-180-290), and Wide Vision ability acquired by investing the remaining 40 points.
The effect of this ability is very limited.
That’s why it required fewer points compared to other more versatile abilities.
But it was also an ability I desperately needed right now.
‘Guillotine Match… Simply put, it’s an ability with powerful synergy in 1v1 battles. It’s an ability I didn’t have at all until now.’
The Guillotine Match ability only applies when fighting 1v1.
League of Legends is basically a team game… so the evaluation of this ability was bound to be poor.
But there’s always a way out even when the sky falls.
Moreover, it was also the way to shine the most in the game.
‘Backdoor, side lane management, and counter jungling! Above all, it’s a way to stand out alone!’
The more limited the range of application, the greater the effect of the ability.
That’s why, even though it’s level 4, it demonstrates ability no less than other level 5 abilities in 1v1 battles.
Moreover, other teams will face our team with data from before, so my new abilities and actions will be completely unexpected.
Of course, to deceive the enemy, you must deceive your allies first… Since the team members are also unaware of the situation, I’ll have to persuade them first.
The broadcast began.
“To the many viewers who have been waiting for and supporting the Blame Others Tournament! I’m BJ Life, who will be hosting the broadcast for these two days, today and tomorrow. Greetings to all viewers!”
“This is BJ Summer, co-hosting. We’ll repay your support with sincere and clear commentary.”
As the viewer count has already surpassed 30,000, which is too much for a single BJ to handle, they recruited friendly BJs to help with the hosting.
Life and Summer, who have 15,000 and 8,000 fan club members respectively, start the hosting skillfully without getting flustered.
As if they’ve practiced in advance, they throw well-matched hosting comments and announce the start of the first match.
The match between SupportBlame and IkuEku team.
My teammates and I continuously exchange opinions while observing their team’s ban-pick and strategies.
The fiercely contested match ends with SupportBlame team’s victory just short of 45 minutes.
It was a typical ADC carry game that dragged into the late game.
IkuEku team with their Challenger jungler had the advantage in the early game, but as SupportBlame’s core items started coming out one by one after tenaciously holding on, the game slowly started to turn around.
Items start coming out faster as the team focuses CS and kills on them.
IkuEku team tried to end the game using their early-mid game advantage, but lacked sharpness.
Eventually, after 35 minutes, the Challenger ADC SupportBlame reaches almost full build.
It was a game that once again confirmed how important the carry power of ADCs is when the game goes to late game.
“Now it’s our turn. Everyone get ready.”
“Ang.”
“I’ll hold on tenaciously!”
“Don’t be nervous. If we avoid mistakes, we can definitely beat AltF4 team.”
I had already told the team members during the previous game.
That I would play more aggressively in this match and take on more roles.
I didn’t reveal the whole big picture I’m drawing from the start.
Sudden changes and reforms tend to face opposition.
For now, it’s time to show ‘results’.
Then the team members will trust my opinions more.
In that sense, the champion I prepared today is quite aggressive.
“Are you really going with that? You haven’t used it much until now, right?”
“I haven’t in team practice games, but I’ve handled it a lot in ranked games. And it’s also what I’m most comfortable with recently. Please trust me once.”
“… Alright. I think it’s fine. Maybe throwing them off like this in strategy could confuse the opponent team.”
Wagyu slightly expresses his agreement.
As the mid laner, he’ll surely like my pick that can go quite strong from the early game.
“Okay. Then let’s go with that.”
Blue Team (Lark Team)
Top – Renekton
Jungle – Graves
Mid – Orianna
ADC – Miss Fortune
Support – Leona
Red Team (AltF4 Team)
Top – Sett
Jungle – Nocturne
Mid – Azir
ADC – Jinx
Support – Zyra
The ban-pick phase ended.
Top lane, as always, is ready for their own battle, and mid is also evenly matched.
In fact, the ‘hottest’ spot was the bottom lane.
Miss Fortune + Leona vs Jinx + Zyra composition.
Anyone can see it’s strength vs strength.
If Leona successfully initiates against Jinx and Zyra, we’ll have an advantage, but if the opponents maintain perfect distance control and don’t give angles, they can gain one-sided benefits through Zyra’s poke.
Actually, if the skills are similar, our team was bound to have a harder time.
‘Assuming there’s no gank, Zyra is a complete bully. And she’s in the hands of a Grandmaster support.’
The early bottom lane phase is mostly controlled by the support’s hands.
Given that, putting aside the tier difference between Gold and Grandmaster, such a powerful pick was given to the enemy support, so I can predict how aggressively they’ll come out.
‘They’re probably trying to make me constantly spend my jungle turns towards bottom like in our previous practice games. Clever.’
It was a strategy that had been quite effective during our team practice games so far.
That’s why they’ll be surprised.
Because they’ll be facing a completely different person than before.
