Tron: A User's Rise

Chapter 5: A Programs Memories: Part 2

[Beck's Pov]

It's been a few cycles since me and the others had gone and hung out, and it's been crazy busy. I'm honestly surprised none of us have keeled over already.

Looking around, I see everyone tirelessly repairing bikes, cars, aircraft, and all sorts of vehicles. Sighing, I look back at the vehicle I'm working on.

"Users… how the heck do programs get their bikes so badly damaged?"

Groaning, I bend down as I use my gloves to open the light cycle's inner components. Looking inside, I see broken parts littered everywhere.

Sighing in frustration, I get to work on the repairs, using the gloves to interact with the bike's code as I try fixing the most damaged parts before moving on.

"This would be so much easier with Bodhi's wrench." Huffing, I continue to work on the bike.

"Ugh, I'm exhausted." Zed groaned as he slumped over the table.

"Come on, it's only been a few hours." I said, slumping over as well.

"Yeah, a few hours of pain and misery. My hands feel like they're about to fall off." Mara whined as she entered the breakroom.

"Hopefully this cycle ends quickly." I sighed.

As we talked, the door to the break room swung open. Looking over, we saw a slouched Bodhi staring at us before silently joining the group.

"This cycle sucks." He said, smacking his head onto the table.

"No kidding." Me and the others all agreed in unison.

Sitting there silently, we did nothing but relax until someone else busted into the break room.

"Alright guys! Break time's over. Back to work."

"Aw, come on, Able." I groaned, the other joining in on my disapproval.

"Sorry, but you have a job to do, and I need all the hands I can get today. So get to it." He said before turning to leave.

"I wanna sleep." Mara said.

"What she said." Zed added.

"Welp, come on guys, we have a long cycle ahead of us." I said as they all groaned a bit more before silently following after me.

It's been some time since that horrid work cycle, and we finally had a bit of time to rest and relax, but like always, it was back to work as usual. As I was working on another bike, I heard someone creep up behind me.

"What do you want, Bodhi?"

"Are you almost done with that bike yet?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Because I want my rematch."

"Hmm, let me finish this bike, then I'll come." I told him.

Sighing, he pulled out his "oh so famous wrench" that he created, and to be fair, it was the most helpful thing a mechanic like me could have.

"Here, just use this. I made a lot more, so giving one to you won't hurt." He laughed.

"Wow, how gracious of you." I smirked at him before activating the wrench.

Placing the wrench on the light cycle, it derezzed the shell as the chassis of the vehicle was revealed. Taking the main engine, I tap it, making different panels pop up as I read them.

As I finished reading the panels, I grabbed a part of the engine, taking out a small piece inside it before pulling on it, and making a cylindrical piece appear.

Twisting the piece a few times, I was finally satisfied enough to put it back in place before putting everything together again and placing the engine back into the bike as the shell rematerialized.

"Now for the final test." Revving the bike, it roars to life as I turn to Bodhi, who is now joined by Zed and Mara.

"You know you're a showoff, right?" Mara deadpanned as she stared at me.

"Hey, some of us gotta use our natural talents." I said right before dodging a can thrown at me. "Hey!" Laughing, the others ran away as I gave chase.

Throwing my disc at Bodhi, he flipped up in the air, catching it before landing and doing a spinning throw with my caught disc and his own as they rapidly approached me. Backflipping, I dodge the discs as they ricochet off the light barrier.

As we flipped through the arena, we caught our discs before throwing them at one another, causing them to bounce off each other as I started throwing insults.

"Wow, Bodhi, it looks like you're getting better." I say before pausing, "Well, actually, you being better is subjective." I smirked, dodging his disc before hurling my own.

"I don't need your input, Beck." He scowled as he flipped over my disc, landing as he caught his own before he had to block the ricocheted disc, not having enough time to dodge.

"Looks like you do." I shouted as I grabbed my disc.

Throwing his disc at me, I somersault over it, catching it midair as he had done mine before throwing both of them at him. As he flipped between them, I expected it as the two discs came bouncing back from the barrier and smacking him right dab in the face.

"Ooh, that's gotta hurt." I grimaced, catching the discs before walking up to him as we heard the voice of the arena speak.

"Player 2 Defeat. Game Over. Would you like to play again?"

"Wanna go again, tough guy."

"I'm just getting started, Beck. This is nothing." He said confidently.

"That's what we like about you, Bodhi. You never seem to give up." I say grinning.

Right as we were about to start up another round, we heard a loud blaring sound go off. Turning toward the noise, we see a huge orange aircraft surrounded by many recognizers.

"Greetings Programs. My name is General Tesler. In the name of our great leader Clu, I now claim Argon as occupied territory." The voice from the airship said.

As we looked into the sky, we saw multiple recognizers hover over us before dropping a rectangular pod. As it fell, we all scattered so as not to be crushed by it.

As it landed, an explosion of orange burst out, turning the entire arena orange as it unraveled itself to reveal a statue of Clu inside it.

"Users!" I hear Mara cursed as she and a few others get thrown back from the explosion.

Going to help her up, I watch as guards and light tanks approach. As a crowd began forming, I couldn't help but say what was on my mind as soon as I saw them.

"If Tron were here, these guys would be sent packing."

"Yeah, let's just hope Tron comes out of nowhere and saves us." Zed sarcastically said, causing me to slightly glare at him.

I was about to respond when we saw Bodhi begin approaching a guard.

"Hey! That's our field you just took over." He shouted at the guard.

"This field belongs to the occupation. It's ours now."

'You can't just-" About to argue, Bodhi was slapped in the face with the guards staff, sending him crashing to the ground, causing a multitude of gasps in the crowd.

"No more playing around, scram."

Getting back up, Bodhi began approaching the guard again.

"You think I'm afraid of y-"

Before he could finish his sentence, we saw the staff the guard was holding glow orange before slamming it into Bodhi. I didn't even have time to react as he crashed into the ground hard.

"Bodhi!" I shouted as I ran up to him.

He lay there, a hole in his chest that began to disintegrate his body slowly but surely. He was dying, and I wasn't happy. No, in fact I was furious.

"Bodhi, we'll get you help... we'll-" Stopping me, he motioned for me to come closer.

Leaning in, he whispered in my ear, and then he turned into cubes. Gritting my teeth, I picked up the now-ownerless disc left atop the many voxels before activating its blade.

"You won't get away with this." I told the guard that has just derezzed my friend.

"You want to be next."

Just as I was about to attack him, Mara grabbed my shoulder before mournfully shaking her head. Deactivating the disc, I stared the guard down.

'This isn't over.' I thought holding in the rage I felt as we all turned to leave.
