Trillionaire's Slice of Life

Chapter 426 Crisis_2

The encounter with the ponytailed girl was indeed a coincidence.

Chu Mo returned the cell phone to the other party, and at this moment, the gang of ruffians at their feet finally made a new move. They began to search every household in the old quarter in an organized and disciplined manner. It was evident that they had already been instructed beforehand.

They were relatively restrained and not too arrogant, and even if there were occasional disputes, a large number of their companions would immediately arrive to suppress them.

The search operation was exceptionally rapid. From the moment they knocked on the first resident's door, it only took a few minutes for a third of the households in the old quarter to be searched. It would take at most one or two minutes for them to reach the lighthouse, and given this group's thoroughness, they would surely send someone up to check the lighthouse.

By then, Chu Mo's exposure was almost a certainty.

"All this is because of me. If I turn myself in, everything here will end, right?"

The ponytailed girl's soft whisper came from beside him. Chu Mo's gaze shifted back from the distance. He took out his cell phone to check the time. After a delay, it was now 8:40 pm. It had been ten minutes since he last contacted Fang Lihu. By his estimation, the reinforcements led by the detective agency's president, Jiang Tao, should have already arrived.

Chu Mo suddenly felt his phone vibrate. He had already set his phone to silent, fearing that an incoming call might reveal his position. When he picked up the phone, the caller ID showed it was Jiang Tao.

He gently pressed the answer button, and immediately Jiang Tao's calm voice came from the other end.

"Mr. Chu, sorry for the scare. Our people are already gathered at the south end of the alley. Your current position is relatively safe. Please do not move around arbitrarily. I'm about to lead my team in to meet you."

Chu Mo answered softly and then hung up the phone. When he turned his attention back to the girl beside him, he saw despair flickering in her bright eyes.

She seemed to be a very obedient girl, at least she looked gentle and innocent on the outside. She perfectly fit the image of a well-behaved girl. Chu Mo couldn't imagine what kind of trouble she must have gotten into to be involved with the gang of ruffians below.

Taking a deep breath and looking at the girl beside him, who was clearly struggling internally, he casually said:

"Don't worry. I said I would save you, and I won't go back on my word. Actually, you are in trouble because of me. Otherwise, a little girl like you could not possibly cause such a big stir.

We are both to blame. Let's not talk about who owes whom."

The girl beside him clearly didn't understand what Chu Mo meant. Just as a bitter look crossed her face, Chu Mo suddenly turned his head. His eyes fixed on a certain direction in the distance, a glint of sharpness flashing in his gaze.

A puzzled expression appeared on the girl's face. She followed Chu Mo's line of sight and saw that at the entrance to the old quarter's alley, dozens of black sedans pulled to an abrupt stop. Then, countless burly men in black jumped out of the cars. Each of them was tall and moved swiftly.

Immediately, a large group of men in black rushed toward the alley entrance. When the gang inside responded and swarmed them, a fierce battle quickly ensued.

Despite the distance, the girl at the top of the tower could still clearly see that the burly men in black who had emerged from the sedans were like warriors possessed, knocking down a group of ruffians to the ground like mud. It took only the time for the ponytailed girl's eyes to widen slightly for at least a dozen ruffians to fall.

However, within the broadening gaze of the girl, the ruffians scattered throughout the alleys converged toward the men in black. At least five or six hundred ruffians filled the old quarter's alleys. When they all swarmed in, the southern part of the alley was completely blocked.

Numerous ruffians roared and charged at the men in black, but they faced professional bodyguards. Among the more than a hundred bodyguards in black, the leaders were over a dozen men over two meters tall, like human tanks. Each one was as fierce as a tiger, and even if the ruffians hit them with sticks, they would merely rub their arms and then knock a ruffian to the ground with a single punch.

At the rear of the men in black were more than forty professional female bodyguards.

These women were equally skilled, capable of taking on three to five petty thugs even on a regular day. With the big bodyguard leading the way, they took charge of the rear. Even when the thugs tried to outflank them, this group of female bodyguards fought with fearless ferocity.

The two at the very front were Fang Lihu and Jiang Tao, akin to human tanks, truly like reincarnations of war gods. Any thug who crossed their path was knocked down with a single punch. Their strength was unparalleled, and for any thug on the receiving end of their fists, there was no chance of getting back up.

With Jiang Tao and Fang Lihu clearing the path, a hundred or more professional bodyguards advanced. Even though the alley ahead was completely blocked by hoodlums, the bodyguard crowd moved steadily towards Chu Mo's position.

One by one, thugs were knocked to the ground, and one biker gang member after another was trampled underfoot. In just two minutes, at least a hundred or two hundred thugs lay defeated in the alley.

However, the ragtag group clearly included some professionals whose skills were not inferior to those of the bodyguards in black. Although few in number, they blended in with the common thugs, launching surprise attacks on the bodyguards, inflicting considerable injuries.

Moments later, at least a dozen bodyguards behind Jiang Tao were ambushed and injured; those wounded could only be sheltered at the center, moving slowly with the crowd.

From the top of the tower, Chu Mo watched as thug after thug fell, yet they fought with reckless abandon, showing no sign of backing down. His eyes narrowed slightly.

If they were just ordinary thugs, facing his professional bodyguards, with nearly half of their number taken out, the rest should have scattered. But they didn't flee. There must be someone directing them, which equally suggested that the power behind them was anything but ordinary.

Five minutes later, when Jiang Tao's team of bodyguards made it to the base of the lighthouse, Chu Mo saw that at least dozens of bodyguards were seriously injured. Even those who could still fight were all more or less wounded. But similarly, of the four to five hundred thugs in the alley, at least two to three hundred lay on the ground.

Yet, by delaying for nearly ten minutes, these thugs had also bought time for reinforcements. From the top of the tower, Chu Mo could clearly see that more thugs were arriving from a distance. By now, at least seven to eight hundred had gathered in the old district, and among them was a large number of tall, professional fighters.

"Mr. Chu, our second wave of reinforcements has arrived. With our protection and coordination from inside and out, we can certainly fight our way out," said the short-haired female bodyguard Sun Qing, who had also witnessed everything from her vantage point, speaking with utmost confidence.

Chu Mo didn't say a word, now certain that the mastermind behind this truly intended to drive him into a corner.

The biker gang's few hundred thugs were not a concern, but the professional fighters hiding among them were the real challenge. These fighters each had the skills to take on his bodyguards one-on-one, and there were no fewer in number.

It was easy for Jiang Tao and his men to charge in, but to break through against hundreds of thugs and countless fighters would be difficult indeed.

Taking a deep breath, Chu Mo naturally did not want to sit idly by and wait for death. He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number lightly.

After several rings, the call was answered, and Chu Mo spoke in a cold voice:

"President Lin, regardless of whether or not this is your doing, if anything happens to me tonight, what you'll face is the full force of retaliation and annihilation from all my power.

I don't care about the eight major families, but your Lin family in Modu will surely be obliterated.

If President Lin doesn't believe it, then let's wait and see!"
